Echo of Her Voice Recap

Episode 1 Recap

In Yun Yao City, part of the Dongsheng Kingdom, Yun Mu, the Young Lord of Huanle City, was a youthful and handsome man with a deep passion for music. Every time he went on patrol, he was always accompanied by many dancers and musicians, drawing the adoration of the city's people. This time was no exception.

On the deck of a pleasure boat, a group of women sang and danced, while inside the cabin, the Young Lord in red robes sat admiring a cup of tea. His bodyguard mistook his silence for suspicion that the tea was poisoned, quickly drawing his sword in a defensive stance. Unexpectedly, Yun Mu was merely captivated by his own reflection in the cup, marveling at how there could be such beauty in the world.

His bodyguard couldn’t help but roll his eyes. However, Yun Mu’s attention then shifted to the sword’s reflection, where his image was even clearer, causing him to praise his appearance once more. At that moment, the sound of countless voices outside could be heard, urging the Young Lord to step out and take a look.

The bodyguard, fearing an assassin might be among the crowd, tried to persuade Yun Mu to stay inside, but Yun Mu paid no heed and confidently walked out. Upon hearing the praise of the people, Yun Mu’s heart was filled with satisfaction, and he swiftly joined the dancers, gracefully moving among them. In the midst of this festive atmosphere, an unexpected figure appeared on the rooftop — Su Ruofei. She held a drumstick and struck in Yun Mu’s direction.

The powerful beat pierced through the noise, striking directly at the hearts of all who heard it. Yun Mu was momentarily stunned but quickly moved by this sudden music. Smiling, he leaped up to the roof where Su Ruofei stood. Su Ruofei loudly declared her intention to lodge a complaint, but before she could finish, Yun Mu scooped her up by the waist, flying with her onto the boat.

Learning that Su Ruofei could also play other instruments, Yun Mu eagerly invited her into the cabin, pulling out a pipa and asking her to perform. Meanwhile, Yun Shang, Yun Mu's uncle and the Lord of Yun Yao City, arrived with a group of people to fetch Yun Mu. Seated on horseback, Yun Shang praised Yun Mu endlessly and expressed his own desire to someday travel the mountains and rivers on a pleasure boat.

Yun Shang congratulated Yun Mu on his accomplishments, but Yun Mu humbly remarked that he was merely a small pawn under his master’s command, and that his true passion lay in music. He specifically requested that his musicians be well taken care of, as they were his greatest source of joy during his travels. His uncle fondly agreed and even mentioned introducing Yun Mu to a famous musician, which greatly piqued Yun Mu's interest.

At Lüguang Music Hall, Su Ruofei’s friends were frantic with worry over her sudden disappearance. Some began to waver, believing that constantly being dragged into the disputes of the city lord's mansion was not a sustainable path. Meanwhile, Su Ruofei’s elder sister, Su Ruoshan, driven by concern for her sister's safety and a desire to defend their family’s honor, arrived at Lüguang Hall to investigate her sister’s whereabouts.

Upon learning that Su Ruofei had been taken to the city lord’s mansion, she immediately gathered her people to rescue her. Inside the city lord’s mansion, under Yun Mu's arrangements, Su Ruofei requested a bath. She mistakenly believed Yun Mu had fallen in love with her and, taking advantage of a moment of inattention, tried to escape. By sheer accident, she ended up near the bathhouse.

Seeing the flower petals scattered in the water, she assumed it was meant for a woman. Hearing footsteps, she quickly hid, only to discover that the person bathing was none other than Yun Mu. Attempting to sneak away, Su Ruofei was caught by Yun Mu, whose sharp senses detected her presence. Frightened, she almost stumbled, but Yun Mu caught her in his arms.

Rather than reprimanding her for her intrusion, Yun Mu teased her for trying to run away after seeing his body. Finally, Su Ruofei had the chance to explain her real purpose for coming. She had wanted to participate in a musician selection competition but had been denied the opportunity.

Her sister had tried to dissuade her from competing with Lüguang Music Hall, but Su Ruofei didn’t understand why her hall wasn’t allowed to compete, which led her to come and beat the drum to file her complaint. Yun Mu suggested that she become his personal musician, but Su Ruofei refused. She wanted to preserve her music hall but had no desire to become anyone’s personal musician.

Yun Mu agreed to visit Lüguang Music Hall with her, promising that if it truly had talent, they would be allowed to participate in the Huanle City competition. As Su Ruoshan arrived at the city lord’s mansion, she happened to see Su Ruofei coming out and finally felt relieved. She scolded Su Ruofei for causing trouble.

Su Ruoshan had also come to see Yun Mu, intending to participate in the Huanle City competition, but Yun Mu was still bathing, and neither of them managed to meet him, leaving disappointed. However, Yun Shang seemed reluctant to part with Su Ruoshan. Su Ruofei rushed back to Lüguang Hall to share the good news. Her friends were overjoyed and pledged to give their all in preparing for the upcoming selection.

At the same time, Yun Mu, with his subordinates, sped through the woods. His thoughts drifted back to a time when, as a child, he had been hunted down. While fleeing for his life, he encountered a girl. Yun Mu coughed up blood as the girl worriedly asked after him. Suddenly, a bright light flashed in the sky, and Yun Mu was snapped out of his thoughts by the voice of his subordinate.

Su Ruoshan went to find Su Ruofei and, hearing that Yun Mu was coming to visit, was in disbelief. But Yun Mu did arrive, and Su Ruoshan hurriedly greeted him. However, Yun Mu remained stern and did not smile at her. Urged by Su Ruofei, Yun Mu finally sat down, assuming a formal posture, ready to listen to their performance.

Episode 2 Recap

Su Ruofei's band's music flowed effortlessly, exuding freedom and ease, but Yun Mu dismissed it as noise. He felt that listening to it for even a minute longer was a waste of time, and its closure was already decided. Su Ruofei blocked Yun Mu, cursing him for being deaf; otherwise, how could he possibly find their music unpleasant?

At that moment, a trap net suddenly fell, but Yun Mu’s subordinate slashed it apart with one stroke, accusing Su Ruofei of setting the trap to target Yun Mu. Su Ruofei didn’t explain herself, instead leaping onto the roof, provoking Yun Mu to chase her. Yun Mu pursued Su Ruofei, and the two of them dashed through the air with ease. Yun Mu effortlessly caught Su Ruofei, whistled to summon his horse, and the two rode back together.

As soon as they arrived at the city lord's mansion, Su Ruofei started vomiting uncontrollably. Yun Mu, amused, couldn't help but laugh—he hadn’t expected horse riding to make her this nauseous. Yun Mu once again proposed that Su Ruofei become his lifelong personal musician, or he would have her executed for attempting to assassinate him. Seeing that she was about to be taken away, Su Ruofei reluctantly agreed to be his musician for five years.

However, Yun Mu was unsatisfied, ordering his men to take Su Ruofei away and imprison her. A bodyguard named Xiao Qi, who had been assigned by Lord Huang to Yun Mu’s side since childhood, looked on. Ever since Yun Mu had been attacked and entered the Phantom Music Forest, he came out holding something green, but his ears could no longer hear any sounds.

When Yun Shang finally found Yun Mu, Yun Mu was still in shock, looking towards Lord Huang. Yun Shang, heartbroken, embraced Yun Mu tightly. After returning, Yun Mu held a dagger to Xiao Qi’s throat, forcing him to reveal why he had come. Xiao Qi insisted he was only there to protect Yun Mu.

Yun Mu confided in Xiao Qi that he had gone deaf and ordered him to teach him lip-reading from that day forward, making him swear to keep it a secret. Over the years, Yun Mu had relied solely on lip-reading to communicate with others. Xiao Qi noticed Yun Mu spacing out and deliberately waved his hand in front of Yun Mu's face to snap him out of it. Xiao Qi then asked why Yun Mu had imprisoned Su Ruofei.

Yun Mu smiled faintly, saying that to make a little kitten submit, you must scare it first. He decided to keep her locked up for a couple of days and planned to visit Su Ruofei's house the next day. The next day, Yun Mu arrived uninvited at Su Ruofei's father’s house to discuss Su Ruofei’s assassination attempt, frightening Su’s father, who immediately knelt down to beg for mercy.

Yun Mu seized the opportunity to propose making Su Ruofei his personal musician, and Su’s father readily agreed. Su’s father complained that Su Ruofei had always been disobedient, even turning down the Qingyin position she had earned, and that she had also visited the Phantom Music Forest before. Yun Mu was curious, feeling that there was nothing particularly special about Su Ruofei, yet he alone could hear the sound of her instrument.

Yun Mu, narcissistic and arrogant, believed that the reason Su Ruofei refused to follow him was because he was too exceptional, fearing that his brilliance might overwhelm her. He even understood why Xiao Qi, who had been with him for years, must have felt a great deal of pressure. Xiao Qi marveled at his young master’s inexplicable confidence. Su Ruofei was brought before Yun Mu, tightly bound.

Yun Mu threatened her with death, and Su Ruofei pleaded for mercy, hastily agreeing to become his musician. However, she asked to return home once to say goodbye. Yun Mu agreed on the spot, confident that Su Ruofei would return. Yun Mu watched Su Ruoshan play the zither. Though he couldn’t hear, her posture convinced him that her music must be beautiful.

By chance, Yun Mu noticed a green jade plant next to Su Ruoshan, believing she was the girl he had encountered in the forest long ago. He immediately announced that Su Ruoshan, along with her band, would be invited to compete. Su Ruoshan recalled the jade plant from when she was in Lüguang Forest, where she had seen two of them and shared one with a boy, hoping they would meet again through it.

Just as she was lost in thought, Yun Mu knocked on the door. He had even crafted a jade brooch, intending to give it to Su Ruoshan. Su Ruoshan joyfully accepted the brooch and took the opportunity to plead for her sister, and Yun Mu promised not to make things difficult for Su Ruofei, out of respect for Su Ruoshan. When Su Ruofei did not return at the agreed time, Yun Mu concluded that she was too insecure to come back.

Xiao Qi, however, believed it wasn’t insecurity. Yun Mu issued a wanted notice, convinced that once Su Ruofei saw it, she would return on her own. Su Ruofei soon saw her own wanted notice, and when she noticed pursuers searching for her, she hurriedly hid in a tavern and shared a table with a young man.

The young man immediately recognized Su Ruofei as the person from the wanted poster, but instead of exposing her, he hid the poster and helped her evade the pursuing soldiers. Su Ruofei generously offered to treat him to a meal. While they were eating, a beautiful young woman walked in, startling the young man so much that he ducked down. Su Ruofei, seeing his reaction, smiled knowingly.

Episode 3 Recap

The young girl sat there without any intention of leaving. Su Ruofei noticed that there was something unusual between the two of them and could tell that the young man was avoiding the girl, so she decided to help cover for him. However, things took a turn when some people in the tavern began speaking rudely about Jin Shangyu. The girl didn't hesitate to teach them a lesson, showing no mercy to anyone who insulted her Jin Shangyu.

The girl's name was Huang Ying, and the young man she was with was Jin Shangyu, a renowned musician. Seeing Huang Ying injure someone, Jin Shangyu had no choice but to step forward and reveal his identity. When the crowd realized Jin Shangyu was right in front of them, they all began to shower him with praise.

Su Ruofei admired two people in her life: one was Jin Shangyu, and the other was Lady Yaoshan, who happened to be Yun Mu’s mother. Jin Shangyu, unwilling to talk much with Huang Ying, took advantage of the chaos to pull Su Ruofei away and escape. That night, they camped on a mountain by a bonfire.

The name Jin Shangyu reminded Su Ruofei of her childhood friend, "Little Fatty," but she refused to believe that the elegant man before her could be him, thinking it was just a coincidence of names. As Su Ruofei fell asleep, Jin Shangyu covered her with his coat, feeling a warmth in his heart. She was still the same girl. From the moment he saw the wanted notice, he had recognized her.

Jin Shangyu wasn’t in a hurry—he was curious to see when Su Ruofei would finally recognize him. The next day, Su Ruofei and Jin Shangyu arrived in town, where they heard about a musician competition taking place. They decided to check it out. By that time, Su Ruoshan had already won eight consecutive matches.

Watching the current contestant about to lose, Su Ruoshan was overjoyed, but Jin Shangyu commented that while Su Ruoshan's zither skills were excellent, they were not the best. Just as he said this, Su Ruoshan won her ninth match. Yun Shang urged Yun Mu to announce Su Ruoshan as the champion, but they were interrupted by Huang Ying’s voice. Huang Ying entered as the tenth challenger.

Yun Shang was reluctant to let anyone challenge Su Ruoshan further, but Huang Ying sarcastically implied that the city lord was favoring Su Ruoshan. Not wanting to be accused of bias, Su Ruoshan agreed to the match. Jin Shangyu predicted that Su Ruoshan would lose this time, as Huang Ying had recently challenged several music houses, with some competitors even coughing up blood. She had earned the nickname “Little Demoness.

”Yun Shang, worried that Su Ruoshan would get hurt, warned Huang Ying that if she harmed Su Ruoshan, she would pay the price. Huang Ying's pipa playing did indeed cause discomfort; halfway through, Su Ruoshan felt tightness in her chest and found it hard to breathe. Su Ruofei, watching from the audience, pulled out a whistle, disrupting the music. Enraged, Huang Ying chased Su Ruoshan, capturing her and dragging her to an abandoned temple.

Jin Shangyu and Yun Mu, both alarmed, hurried after them. Huang Ying angrily confronted Jin Shangyu, asking if he had feelings for Su Ruofei. Jin Shangyu didn’t answer directly, but the flicker in his eyes revealed his feelings, infuriating Huang Ying. In a rage, she pulled out a dagger and stabbed Su Ruofei in the chest before fleeing, only to be stopped by Xiao Qi outside.

Jin Shangyu and Yun Mu rushed to check Su Ruofei's wound, only to find that the dagger was retractable. Su Ruofei then realized that Huang Ying wasn’t truly malicious. Huang Ying, blocked by Xiao Qi, was spared when Jin Shangyu pleaded with Yun Mu on her behalf, offering to go to Phantom City as a resident musician. Yun Mu’s father had previously invited Jin Shangyu multiple times, but he had always refused.

This time, however, he agreed, all for the sake of a young girl, much to Yun Mu’s surprise. Yun Mu didn’t immediately agree and instead pointed out that Huang Ying had just injured Su Ruoshan. Yun Shang had already sent people to capture her, and if she were caught, she’d be sentenced to death. He demanded that Jin Shangyu choose whom to save, Huang Ying or Su Ruofei.

As Jin Shangyu hesitated, the pursuers arrived, forcing him to choose to let Huang Ying go. Yun Mu took Su Ruofei back with him, demanding that she become his personal musician. Left with no choice, Su Ruofei agreed. Yun Mu believed that the reason Su Ruofei hadn’t been willing to return with him earlier was that she felt inferior, thinking he was too dazzling. He promised that he would help Su Ruofei improve.

However, Su Ruofei finally voiced her true feelings: she found Yun Mu’s arrogance insufferable and called him a narcissist. Her words left Yun Mu stunned, though in the end, Su Ruofei still agreed to become his musician. Yun Mu, in turn, promised that if she performed well, he would restore her status as a musician and reopen the Lüguang Music House. Whether it was for practical reasons or not, Su Ruofei staying behind gave Yun Mu some satisfaction.

He gave her a bracelet, symbolizing that she now belonged to him. After Su Ruofei left, Yun Mu asked Xiao Qi if he truly was as narcissistic as Su Ruofei had claimed. Xiao Qi, not wanting to offend, falsely praised Yun Mu as a charming gentleman, saying it was confidence, not narcissism. Su Ruofei went to visit Su Ruoshan, only to be scolded.

Su Ruoshan felt that Su Ruofei was lucky to have survived, and becoming a musician wasn’t such a big deal. Su Ruofei noticed the brooch on Su Ruoshan’s clothing and complimented it, making Su Ruoshan hastily cover it. Su Ruofei then asked if Su Ruoshan had seen her Lüguang jade. She was still waiting for that "stingy brat" to return, which was why she hadn’t wanted to leave.

Su Ruoshan knew that Yun Mu was the "stingy brat" but mistakenly believed Su Ruoshan to be Su Ruofei. Yun Mu invited Su Ruoshan to Phantom City for the competition, marking her first trip far from home. Yun Shang was very concerned about this and was preparing to see Yun Mu off when Yun Mu presented a letter from their father. The letter requested that Yun Shang personally escort Yun Mu back, which delighted Yun Shang.

Lord Huang advised Yun Shang to use the opportunity to kill Yun Mu, worried that Yun Mu might take over his protector role. However, Yun Shang dismissed the idea, believing Yun Mu was too focused on indulgence to be a threat. He reassured Lord Huang not to stir up trouble. Jin Shangyu later arrived at Lüguang Music House and began playing, his thoughts drifting back to his childhood.

At that time, Su Ruofei had passed the Qingyin exam but withdrew, believing that music should be free and unrestrained, not bound by rules. She dreamed of creating her own carefree music house and had invited Jin Shangyu to be its first musician. Motivated by Su Ruofei's words, Jin Shangyu practiced hard, eventually becoming the most famous musician in the land.

Episode 4 Recap

Su Ruofei happily tore off the seal, calling out the names of Hou'er, A Biao, and Shiyi, but the three band members had already left. Su Ruofei left three letters behind, hoping they would see them, and vowed to make Luguang Music House a success. She also hoped that Yun Mu would keep his word. The next morning, everyone was preparing to depart.

Su Ruofei wanted to ride in the same carriage as Jin Shangyu, but Yun Mu forcibly pulled her into his carriage. Su Ruoshan intended to be with Yun Mu, but Yun Shang led her away. Everyone had their own thoughts. Su Ruofei didn’t understand why Yun Mu insisted on making her his music maid. Yun Mu teasingly replied that it was because he had taken a liking to her.

When Su Ruofei grew anxious, Yun Mu drew out his words, revealing that he was actually interested in her hands. Just then, music started playing outside—Hou'er and the others were performing a song to send Su Ruofei off. Su Ruofei promised to return soon. Jin Shangyu joined in with his flute, and Su Ruofei played her pipa, the music full of reluctance and sorrow.

Yun Shang couldn’t help but praise how beautiful it sounded, but Su Ruoshan dismissed it as a simple rural tune. Seeing Su Ruofei's tears, Yun Mu handed her a handkerchief, but she did not accept it. Annoyed, Yun Mu told Su Ruofei to play more music, to which Su Ruofei retorted that Yun Mu was being heartless, deliberately making things difficult for her.

During a rest stop, Su Ruofei spent time chatting with Jin Shangyu, and the two were having such a great conversation that Yun Mu, seeing them, became jealous and distracted. Yun Shang called out to Yun Mu, but because Yun Mu was lost in thought, he didn’t hear. Fortunately, Xiao Qi reminded him in time.

Although Yun Mu sat down at Yun Shang’s table for dinner, he asked Su Ruofei to play the pipa, clearly intending to separate her from Jin Shangyu. Su Ruofei wasn’t happy about being asked to perform while everyone else ate, but Jin Shangyu volunteered to play instead. Su Ruofei watched in admiration, her eyes filled with awe and admiration as she appreciated Jin Shangyu's music, which she thought was heavenly. This scene made Yun Mu even more displeased.

Su Ruofei sulked in the woods, having not eaten a proper meal. Just then, Yun Mu brought over a chicken leg, having noticed earlier that Su Ruofei had been eyeing it. As she was about to reach for it, Yun Mu pulled it back to tease her. At that moment, Jin Shangyu also appeared with a chicken leg, and Su Ruofei happily accepted it.

Yun Mu, seeing something on her mouth, wiped it away before Jin Shangyu could offer his handkerchief, causing Jin to quietly put it away. As the group was about to leave the woods, a band of assassins blocked their way. Yun Mu’s fighting style was impressive, and Su Ruofei was mesmerized. However, she quickly realized she shouldn’t be so captivated, thinking that no matter how handsome Yun Mu was, he was still too cruel.

Yun Shang arrived in time to drive off the black-clad assassins, who were actually disguised soldiers under Master Huang’s command. Yun Shang realized this and ordered them to leave. Upon investigating the defeated assassins, it was found that their legs were calloused from long periods of horseback riding, indicating they were soldiers. Although Yun Mu knew they were Yun Shang’s subordinates, he didn’t expose him. Instead, he asked Yun Shang to investigate the matter.

Yun Mu also suspected that Yun Shang might have been behind an assassination attempt on him twelve years ago but decided now wasn’t the time for a confrontation, so he let Yun Shang handle it. Meanwhile, Yun Shang scolded Master Huang, who explained that he only wanted to eliminate Yun Mu to secure Yun Shang’s position as protector, but Yun Shang warned him not to harbor such thoughts.

The next day, Yun Shang noticed Su Ruoshan speaking with Yun Mu and became jealous, ordering Su Ruoshan to leave. Yun Mu saw this and assumed that Yun Shang had deep feelings for Su Ruoshan, prompting Yun Mu to distance himself to avoid upsetting his uncle. Huang Ying, knowing Jin Shangyu was heading to Huancheng City, decided to go there ahead of time. Yun Mu’s group also arrived at Huancheng City, which seemed like a paradise on earth.

The sounds of silk and bamboo filled the air, and everyone eagerly peeked out to see, enchanted by the place. Su Ruofei especially loved it, but Yun Mu remarked that since they would be living there, there was no need to be so excited now. In the other carriage, Su Ruoshan was deep in thought and showed no interest in the music outside.

Yun Shang assured her that he would recommend her to the lord of the city and ensure she became a grand musician, finally bringing a smile to Su Ruoshan’s face. Huang Ying, who had been waiting, finally saw Jin Shangyu poking his head out of the carriage and called his name, startling him into quickly ducking back inside. After meeting his father, Lord Yun, Yun Mu went to visit his mother, leaving Yun Shang alone to speak with Lord Yun.

During their conversation, Lord Yun praised Yun Shang’s achievements and entrusted the future of Dongsheng to both Yun Shang and Yun Mu. However, Yun Shang deliberately downplayed this, mentioning that it was under Lord Yun’s leadership that they had built their empire, while Yun Mu had grown up in peace and only knew how to indulge in music and dance.

Lord Yun expressed his concern that Yun Mu was still too young and said that he had specifically brought Yun Shang here to guide him. He hoped that after attending his sister-in-law's birthday banquet, they could reminisce. This made Yun Shang very happy, as it meant he could stay close to Su Ruoshan.

Episode 5 Recap

Su Ruoshan played the harp in front of Lady Yaoshan, who looked on with admiration. This was the same piece that Lady Yaoshan's mother used to play, and she loved it. Upon hearing that Su Ruoshan was the girl from the forest all those years ago, Lady Yaoshan became even more fond of her, believing their meeting was fated. She even gifted Su Ruoshan a jade pendant, thanking her for saving her son back then.

These words made Su Ruoshan nervous, as she was unaware of some of the details from that time. Yun Mu arranged a luxurious residence for Su Ruoshan, and she was surprised by how useful the identity of the "Jade Girl" had become. Looking at her own jade pendant, Su Ruoshan felt compelled to continue using this identity. She hoped to gain the title of grand musician, even if it meant betraying her sister.

As Yun Mu stepped out, he ran into Yun Shang, who had brought gifts and clothing. Yun Mu could see that his uncle was serious this time. Jin Shangyu arrived at Huanyue Pavilion, where he was admired by everyone. Men chased after him, asking about his music, while women were captivated by his talent. Su Ruofei, however, snuck into Yun Mu's room alone and discovered it was full of mirrors. She laughed at how narcissistic Yun Mu seemed.

Just then, Yun Mu and Xiao Qi arrived. Xiao Qi warned Su Ruofei that entering Yun Mu's study without permission was a capital offense. Xiao Qi solemnly placed the jade pendant on the table, but Yun Mu pulled Su Ruofei away before noticing it. Yun Mu told Su Ruofei to choose fabrics for her clothes, his real motive being to please his eyes. He also demanded that Su Ruofei memorize all the musical scores.

Xiao Qi led Su Ruofei to a room and told her she could stay there. Looking around at the beautifully furnished room, Su Ruofei couldn’t resist the urge to lie down and rest. To her surprise, this was Yun Mu’s room. Yun Mu reminded her that she wasn’t allowed to sleep in his bed, only on the small one behind the screen.

In the courtyard, Jin Shangyu played his flute, his mind filled with memories of meeting Su Ruofei as a child. Just then, Huang Ying suddenly appeared, startling Jin Shangyu, who quickly hid. Huang Ying, unable to find anyone, left. Jin Shangyu worried that his peaceful days were over. Yun Mu noticed that Su Ruofei was too nervous to sleep and kept sitting up.

To resolve this, he tied their wrists together with a silk ribbon, so if Yun Mu moved, Su Ruofei would notice and could relax. However, Su Ruofei kept tossing and turning, causing the bell on her wrist to ring throughout the night. The next day, Su Ruofei’s new clothes were ready. Seeing her in the new outfit, Yun Mu thought she looked stunning and asked her to create a different kind of music using the handbell.

Yun Mu also sent Su Ruoshan some herbs and clothes, explaining that the climate here was different from their hometown, and she could take the herbs if she felt unwell. Su Ruoshan keenly realized that Yun Mu's kindness was entirely due to her identity as the "Jade Girl" from back then. Jin Shangyu, having just avoided Huang Ying, now had to evade the group of admirers chasing after him, leaving him exhausted.

He confided his frustrations to Yun Mu, who agreed to let him stay in his residence. Su Ruofei was forced to practice with the handbell every day, but she often pretended to have a stomachache to escape to the bathroom. One day, while lazily hiding in a tree, she ran into Jin Shangyu again. He gave her a gift, hoping she would still see him as the Jin Shangyu from their childhood.

However, Su Ruofei struggled to connect the man before her with the boy from her past. Just as Jin Shangyu was about to explain, Su Ruofei heard someone calling her name, and in a panic, she ran away.

Episode 6 Recap

Today, Yun Mu unexpectedly gave Su Ruofei two extra hours to rest. Su Ruofei found it hard to believe and worried that he might be up to something. Just then, she noticed the servants pushing a cart full of musical instruments that were about to be thrown away. Su Ruofei quickly stopped them and took the instruments back to her room. She was overjoyed, thinking Yun Mu was wasting valuable items.

In reality, Yun Mu was secretly watching this unfold; he had intentionally arranged for the instruments to be given to Su Ruofei. He remembered seeing her use random objects as instruments and decided to gift her real ones. He also ordered that she be given two hours of rest every day. Ling Lezheng gathered the new musicians and gave them a speech, announcing that one of them would be chosen as the new Grand Musician.

Su Ruoshan was excited, believing she had the best chance. Su Ruofei, frustrated with her handbell practice, thought that no matter how well she mastered it, all it did was produce different rhythms. She suspected Yun Mu was just trying to make things difficult for her. Xiao Qi came to check if Su Ruofei was practicing, but he quickly sensed that an assassin had infiltrated the area.

Su Ruofei snuck back to her room, relieved that an assassin had shown up, thinking no one would be able to keep an eye on her anymore. Just as she said this, a dagger was suddenly placed at her throat. Su Ruofei recognized the assailant as Huang Ying. Under Huang Ying's threat, she was forced to take her to see Jin Shangyu. Jin Shangyu, afraid of harming Su Ruofei, didn’t dare to run.

Huang Ying believed that Jin Shangyu used to like her, but now he was avoiding her. Jin Shangyu tried to persuade Huang Ying to leave quickly. Just then, Yun Mu and his men arrived on patrol and asked if there was anyone in Jin Shangyu’s room. From a single sound, Yun Mu instantly knew Su Ruofei was inside and entered the room without hesitation.

Su Ruofei hid under the bed but was pushed out by Huang Ying, who was also hiding there. Su Ruofei quickly lied, saying that she and Jin Shangyu were studying musical instruments, and even pulled out the pan flute Jin Shangyu had given her. However, she didn’t know how to play it and was about to give herself away, but Jin Shangyu took the flute and played it, covering for her.

Yun Mu pretended to understand and took Su Ruofei away. In truth, Yun Mu knew Huang Ying was still under the bed but spared Jin Shangyu the embarrassment by not exposing her. After they left, Yun Mu exposed Su Ruofei’s lie and demanded she explain everything from the beginning. Su Ruofei honestly recounted being captured by Huang Ying. Yun Mu warned Su Ruofei that if she didn’t practice seriously, her return to the music academy would be delayed.

At her current level, she would only embarrass him and be unworthy of the Grand Musician title, not to mention unfit to be taught by Lady Yaoshan. He angrily called her a piece of rotten wood that couldn’t be carved and pretended to throw her out. Su Ruofei, panicked, apologized and acknowledged her mistakes, even writing a formal letter of commitment.

Yun Mu added a condition: Su Ruofei was not allowed to visit Jin Shangyu at night, and she must refer to him as “sir” instead of calling him by name. Su Ruofei agreed not to visit Jin Shangyu at night but explained that it was Jin Shangyu himself who had asked her to call him by name, so she couldn’t change it. Yun Mu reluctantly agreed, satisfied that she wouldn’t visit Jin Shangyu at night.

He instructed Xiao Qi to carefully store the letter of commitment. Later, when Su Ruofei was about to sleep, she suddenly realized she had been tricked again. In retaliation, she played the suona loudly at Yun Mu, acting as if she were practicing diligently. Annoyed, Yun Mu pushed her out of the room. Su Ruofei decided she needed to steal back her letter of commitment first.

As Su Ruofei was in the middle of stealing the letter, Xiao Qi and Yun Mu entered the room, scaring her into hiding. Yun Mu intentionally told Xiao Qi that a thief had entered the room and that anyone who entered the study would be doomed. He sent Xiao Qi to investigate. As soon as Xiao Qi left, Yun Mu picked up the suona and started playing it near the spot where Su Ruoshan was hiding.

Startled, Su Ruoshan bolted from her hiding place, only to be blocked at the door by Xiao Qi. She realized too late that she had fallen into Yun Mu’s trap again. Yun Mu smugly held up the letter of commitment and reminded her to follow through with what she had promised. Early the next morning, Yun Shang brought Lord Huang to Yun Mu’s residence. Yun Mu deliberately had a large group of people attend to him.

Yun Shang scolded Yun Mu for neglecting important matters and only indulging in food, drink, and entertainment. After they left, Yun Shang reprimanded Lord Huang, saying that with all the women around Yun Mu, there was no way he could be a serious competitor, and it wasn’t worth gathering any information on him. Su Ruoshan came to see Yun Mu, but Yun Mu realized that someone had entered his residence to gather information.

He made an excuse to avoid seeing Su Ruoshan and instead pretended to be affectionate with Su Ruofei for the sake of their performance. Su Ruofei, eager to retrieve her letter of commitment, played along with Yun Mu, successfully fooling the spy. Waiting outside, Su Ruoshan, who didn’t get to see Yun Mu, tried to meet with Su Ruofei but heard from the servants that Su Ruofei seemed to be “busy” with Yun Mu. Disheartened, she left.

Episode 7 Recap

Su Ruoshan sent some of Yun Yao's compositions to Lady Yaoshan, knowing these were songs Lady Yaoshan often listened to back in Yaoshan. Su Ruoshan claimed she had organized them after hearing Yun Mu mention them, which deeply moved Lady Yaoshan, increasing her affection for Su Ruoshan. Yun Shang had people secretly investigate Yun Mu and found that he either spent his time indulging in pleasure or flirting with the female musicians.

Relieved, Yun Shang thought Yun Mu was just a frivolous playboy. However, Lord Huang believed Yun Mu was doing this deliberately, recalling how heroically he acted during the assassination attempt in the woods. Yun Shang also found this suspicious and decided to keep a closer watch. Su Ruofei made a hammock and hung herself in a tree, hoping to avoid Yun Mu and slack off. When Yun Mu came looking for her, he noticed but chose not to expose her.

Su Ruofei suddenly realized the rope was about to break, and she had no choice but to call Yun Mu to help her down. However, Yun Mu, who had an ear problem, didn’t hear her, leading to the rope breaking. Su Ruofei almost fell, but Yun Mu caught her just in time. Their lips accidentally brushed against each other, making Su Ruofei furious as she suspected Yun Mu had pretended not to hear on purpose.

After Yun Mu left, Jin Shangyu came to invite Su Ruofei to go out. Su Ruofei agreed but waited until Yun Mu was asleep before sneaking out. She thought Jin Shangyu had already left, but to her surprise, Jin Shangyu had prepared a shadow puppet show that reenacted their childhood encounter. This made Su Ruofei realize that Jin Shangyu was the chubby boy from her childhood. She couldn’t believe how much he had changed.

The once-chubby boy’s face used to be twice the size of his current one, and she never imagined that the musical genius she admired was once her childhood follower. Jin Shangyu only hoped not to embarrass Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei couldn’t resist reaching out to pat his head, but now he was too tall. Jin Shangyu knelt on one knee so that Su Ruofei could touch his head. As they happily chatted, Yun Mu and Xiao Qi arrived.

Despite Jin Shangyu being his honored guest, Yun Mu didn’t hesitate to scold him, forbidding him from meeting his female musician in private. He then took Su Ruofei away. Just as Jin Shangyu frowned, Huang Ying suddenly appeared behind him. She had been following Jin Shangyu and witnessed the entire scene, learning that Jin Shangyu and Su Ruofei were childhood friends. Back at the residence, Yun Mu also scolded Su Ruofei, teaching her the rules.

He had Xiao Qi read aloud the terms of her commitment letter, which included not meeting Jin Shangyu at night. Su Ruofei argued that she hadn’t known Jin Shangyu was her childhood friend before, so the commitment letter didn’t count. But Yun Mu insisted it still applied, stating that even childhood friends couldn’t ignore the differences between men and women. Yun Mu claimed he wanted to watch a puppet show and asked her to perform one for him.

Left with no choice, Su Ruofei agreed. During the puppet show, Su Ruofei deliberately cursed Yun Mu, but since Yun Mu could only see the puppets and not hear her, he thought the performance was quite spirited. He believed the story was about a mountain ghost capturing a beautiful maiden and watched with great interest. This action made Su Ruofei realize that Yun Mu actually had hearing problems.

Without saying much to Jin Shangyu, who had come to see her, she rushed to Yun Mu and secretly followed him, planning to scare him. Instead, Yun Mu suddenly turned around and scared her. Su Ruofei initially thought she was overthinking, but then she noticed a mirror on the beam above. She suddenly realized that all the mirrors around the house weren’t because Yun Mu was vain but because of another reason.

To confirm her suspicion, Su Ruofei deliberately cursed Yun Mu while dancing with the female musicians. Yun Mu didn’t react to her words but immediately noticed when she missed a beat on her drum. This revealed to Su Ruofei that Yun Mu was deaf in both ears but could still hear the sound of her drum, deepening her confusion. At the same time, she began to feel some pity for him.

Yun Mu later staged an attack, having someone pretend to be an assassin to test whether Su Ruofei knew about his weakness. Though Su Ruofei cursed Yun Mu in many ways, she didn’t reveal his deafness. When Su Ruofei woke up, Yun Mu was standing beside her, realizing that Su Ruofei had discovered his secret. He bluntly warned her that knowing someone’s secret could lead to only one path—death. Su Ruofei promised to keep his secret.

Yun Mu, seeing the situation, laid his cards on the table. He asked Su Ruofei to be his ears, helping him in situations where he couldn’t hear what others were saying. He also showed her many musical scores, explaining that he needed to memorize all the pieces so that during performances, he could pretend to know what was being played, thus concealing his deafness. Su Ruofei suddenly felt sympathy for Yun Mu, realizing how impressive he was.

If she were in his shoes, she would have been lost and helpless. Su Ruofei promised she would be Yun Mu’s ears. Yun Mu, pleased that his plan had succeeded, gave her a secret codebook to memorize, stating that they would use handbells in combination to communicate, and only he would be able to understand the code. He hoped Su Ruofei would commit it to memory.

Episode 8 Recap

Su Ruofei agreed to be Yun Mu's ears, and Yun Mu trusted Su Ruofei's loyalty. He scolded Xiao Qi for scaring Su Ruofei and cutting her neck with a blade, emphasizing that he shouldn't have gone that far. Yun Mu instructed Xiao Qi to fetch the best medicine to ensure there wouldn't be a scar. Xiao Qi hurriedly knelt to apologize, and Yun Mu didn't blame him further.

In the days that followed, Yun Mu and Xiao Qi noticed that Su Ruofei seemed like a different person. She diligently practiced the secret handbell signals, even during meals and in her sleep, muttering them in her dreams. Yun Mu even started to think that Su Ruofei had fallen for him, captivated by his charm. The next morning, before Su Ruofei was awake, Yun Mu applied medicine to her wound.

Just then, Jin Shangyu arrived and, learning that the two were staying in the same room, rushed over, only to see Yun Mu drawing a butterfly over Su Ruofei's wound to make it look prettier. Jin Shangyu was furious, thinking that Yun Mu’s behavior toward Su Ruofei could ruin her reputation. Seeing the tension between them, Su Ruofei hastily explained that their relationship was innocent, and Yun Mu had only been applying medicine.

Yun Mu rudely sent Jin Shangyu back to the Huan Yue House to stay. Su Ruofei wanted to see him off, but Yun Mu stopped her. Yun Mu then gave an order: whenever Jin Shangyu comes looking for Su Ruofei, block him if possible, and if not, prevent him from meeting her. His reasoning was that Jin Shangyu wanted to steal his person.

Xiao Qi felt that Yun Mu had changed and couldn’t understand when Su Ruofei had become Yun Mu’s "person. "Yun Shang had a set of expensive clothing made for Su Ruoshan, as well as a carriage, and even considered getting her a house. Su Ruoshan accepted the dress and carriage, promising to behave well and not disgrace Yun Yao.

With the upcoming music gathering, Su Ruoshan wasn’t sure if Yun Mu would attend, but she believed Yun Mu’s feelings for the Jade Maiden were different. She secretly vowed to play a matching tune with Yun Mu. Jin Shangyu came to ask Su Ruofei to leave with him, but Su Ruofei refused. She didn’t reveal her reason for staying to help Yun Mu but instead shared her personal aspirations.

She expressed her hope of becoming the Chief Musician so she could change the system, ensuring that talented musicians like Hou’er and Shiyi wouldn’t remain overlooked. Jin Shangyu supported her ambition. To test the results of their secret bell code, Yun Mu deliberately blindfolded himself and had Su Ruofei use the bells to guide his archery, indicating where a hidden girl was located. Each time, Yun Mu accurately hit the target.

But on the final shot, Yun Mu intentionally aimed at Su Ruofei, as he was upset, knowing that Jin Shangyu had come to see her again. When Su Ruoshan came to find Su Ruofei, she overheard the female musicians gossiping, speculating that Yun Mu treated Su Ruofei differently, not as a musician but as a favored concubine. This made Su Ruoshan feel uncomfortable.

After delivering her invitation to Yun Mu and leaving, she specifically warned Su Ruofei to keep her distance from Yun Mu to avoid rumors. Yun Mu planned to attend the gathering, as he had always wanted to repay the Jade Maiden, but had been delayed by training Su Ruofei, the "wild cat. " Now, it was time to fulfill that debt. Huang Ying brought buns for Jin Shangyu.

Although Jin Shangyu was very hungry, he was afraid to eat them for fear of being judged for his weight. Under Huang Ying’s persistent persuasion, he finally ate one bun. When Huang Ying heard that Jin Shangyu had been kicked out, she assumed he was bullied and wanted to confront Yun Mu. However, Jin Shangyu explained that he had left to train the female musicians, which made Huang Ying even happier, as it meant she could see him every day.

Jin Shangyu immediately lost his appetite for the buns. Su Ruoshan was delighted to see Yun Mu arrive, but when she saw that he had brought Su Ruofei with him, jealousy surged in her heart. However, she pretended to be natural and acted kindly toward Su Ruofei. Curious, Su Ruofei wandered around and eventually encountered Jin Shangyu. Jin Shangyu told her that today was a day for musicians to "exchange tunes," seeking understanding through music.

Su Ruofei suddenly realized that her sister had likely invited Yun Mu to befriend him through music, and she wondered if Yun Mu had the same intention. Jin Shangyu wanted to connect with Su Ruofei through music, but Su Ruofei thought she was merely accompanying Yun Mu and didn't consider herself qualified for such an exchange, leaving Jin Shangyu disappointed. As everyone played their music, Su Ruofei shook the bells, allowing Yun Mu to sense the tunes.

Yun Mu accurately guessed the piece being played and praised Su Ruofei's performance. The bells scratched Su Ruofei’s wrist, and Yun Mu carried medicine with him to apply to her wound. When Su Ruoshan played, Su Ruofei recognized it as one of Lady Yaoshan’s songs, which was also her own favorite. If she were in Su Ruoshan’s place, she would play the same piece. To satisfy Yun Mu's curiosity, Su Ruofei transmitted the melody through the bells. Yun Mu suddenly realized that Su Ruoshan wanted him to hear the Jade Maiden’s song.

Episode 9 Recap

This tune reminded Yun Mu of the past, specifically of the girl he met in the Green Light Forest, who had played this very piece. After Su Ruoshan finished playing, she placed the konghou on a small boat and sent it downstream, hoping Yun Mu would take it. However, Yun Shang ended up taking it instead, which infuriated Su Ruoshan, who silently cursed him as a fool. Yun Mu suggested that Su Ruofei play next.

Though Su Ruofei initially wanted to refuse, she couldn't withstand Yun Mu's sarcastic taunts, so she reluctantly agreed. Since she didn’t bring her instrument, she borrowed Su Ruoshan's konghou. After playing, she had to place the konghou on the small qin to see if anyone would respond musically. Su Ruofei was worried that no one would respond. At the crucial moment, both Yun Mu and Jin Shangyu stood up.

Yun Shang was surprised to see Su Ruofei being so sought after, with both men stepping forward. Many people gathered to watch the excitement, and in the commotion, someone accidentally pushed Su Ruofei into the water. Without hesitation, Yun Mu caught her mid-fall, but a railing suddenly fell and struck Yun Mu's shoulder. In pain, Yun Mu accidentally dropped Su Ruofei into the water, but fortunately, both emerged unharmed.

Jin Shangyu, deeply concerned for Su Ruofei, carried her away, but Su Ruofei suddenly remembered that Yun Mu couldn’t hear anything. She quickly went back to find him. Yun Mu, lost and confused, heard the sound of bells. When he saw Su Ruofei return, he was overjoyed. Despite the crowd, Yun Mu held Su Ruofei close when he heard her sneeze and left with her.

Yun Shang praised Yun Mu for treating Su Ruofei so well, saying they made a great match, though this comment displeased Su Ruoshan. She knew Yun Mu liked Su Ruofei but couldn’t afford to lose Yun Shang’s support, so she also complimented Yun Shang, who was delighted by her words.

Su Ruofei felt guilty for causing Yun Mu to get hurt, but Yun Mu didn’t mind at all and cared more about Su Ruofei’s feelings, which made her feel sweetly comforted. Lord Huang thought back to Yun Shang's reminder to Yun Mu about the railing, but Yun Mu seemed not to have heard, which led to him being hit.

This wasn’t the first time—Yun Shang had called out to Yun Mu before, but Yun Mu had explained that he didn’t hear because he had just woken up. Lord Huang felt there must be a connection between the two incidents, but Yun Shang dismissed it as overthinking. Unconvinced, Lord Huang requested more time to investigate. After returning, Yun Mu unknowingly began drawing Su Ruofei's portrait. Xiao Qi suspected that Yun Mu might have feelings for Su Ruofei.

Similarly, whenever Su Ruofei closed her eyes, Yun Mu’s face would appear in her mind, which made her restless. She shouted, telling the thoughts to go away, only to be surprised when Yun Mu suddenly entered the room, making her feel a bit awkward. Seeing Yun Mu with medicine in hand, Su Ruofei volunteered to help apply it, but she blindfolded herself.

As she applied the medicine, a breeze blew the white cloth covering her eyes, and Yun Mu, unable to resist, leaned in to kiss her. Su Ruofei instinctively dodged, and both immediately realized the awkwardness of the situation, quickly pulling apart in embarrassment. Su Ruofei’s heart raced, unsure if she had been enchanted or if she had truly fallen for him. That night, amidst the flashes of lightning and thunder, Su Ruoshan felt a twinge of guilt.

If she had reminded Su Ruofei earlier, she wouldn’t have fallen into the water. However, she had hesitated, knowing there was an issue with the railing for a while. Another voice in her mind reminded her that to succeed, she couldn’t afford to be soft-hearted. She couldn’t lose control over her feelings for a man. Su Ruoshan told herself that she had never loved any man; all men were just stepping stones to her success.

Meanwhile, standing in the heavy rain, Jin Shangyu felt sorrow. Su Ruofei’s sudden return earlier made him realize that the person Su Ruofei liked was Yun Mu. Huang Ying, despite the storm, stood by Jin Shangyu’s side. Frightened by the thunder and lightning, she screamed continuously but still refused to leave him. Feeling compassion, Jin Shangyu carried Huang Ying back to his room, where she soon developed a high fever.

Looking at the feverish Huang Ying, Jin Shangyu recalled the day he went to visit her home, only to find it empty. Inside, he had discovered Huang Ying hiding under the table. Her parents had died in a mountain flood, and everyone had left, believing she was cursed. Terrified by the storm, Huang Ying had covered her ears, but Jin Shangyu wasn’t afraid of her supposed curse.

He had given her warmth, and from that day on, Huang Ying followed him. When she was hungry, Jin Shangyu bought her buns, and it was during that time that Huang Ying began affectionately calling him "Jin Jin. " At this moment, Huang Ying woke up and saw Jin Shangyu beside her.

She reached out to hold his hand, and though Jin Shangyu understood her fear, he placed his hand in hers, but reminded her that this was a one-time exception. Huang Ying felt warmth in her heart, knowing that no matter what, Jin Shangyu would never abandon her.

Episode 10 Recap

The next day, when Huang Ying woke up, Jin Shangyu had already left, leaving behind a letter. He gave the house to Huang Ying to live in but made it clear that he did not have feelings for her. He warned Huang Ying not to go to the Huan Le Fang to find him and cautioned her not to cause any trouble, or he would no longer help her.

Huang Ying went to register at the Huan Le Fang, and though the person in charge was initially persuaded by her, Yun Shang stopped her from filling out the registration form. Yun Shang warned Huang Ying not to come back again and instructed the registration officer never to allow her in. Yun Mu deliberately prepared several portraits of beautiful women and invited Su Ruofei to help him choose one.

Su Ruofei was displeased and inwardly cursed Yun Mu for being a flirt. Yun Mu hinted that Su Ruofei could express her feelings in advance, making it easier for him to accept her. However, Su Ruofei completely misunderstood and thought Yun Mu was being terrible, suggesting that whoever confessed first would win. Frustrated, she randomly pointed at one of the portraits, not realizing it was actually her own portrait that Yun Mu had drawn.

Yun Mu misunderstood again, thinking Su Ruofei had chosen herself as his girlfriend. Su Ruofei noticed that Yun Mu had prepared an elaborate reception for this supposed girl, making her feel even more uncomfortable. She made an excuse to leave, and Yun Mu tried to show her the painting, but she refused to look. She assumed the girl must be unattractive, while Xiao Qi could tell that Su Ruofei was actually jealous.

Su Ruoshan came to find Su Ruofei, deliberately talking about what it feels like to like someone. Su Ruofei suddenly realized that the feelings she had were for Yun Mu. Su Ruoshan reminded Su Ruofei that no matter who she liked, she must keep her eyes open and make sure the other person was reliable. Su Ruoshan said she would make an effort to impress Yun Mu because he had agreed to let her enter the Huan Le Fang.

Su Ruoshan took Su Ruofei to check the registration list, but they didn’t find Su Ruofei's name on it. Su Ruoshan was secretly relieved, thinking that perhaps Yun Mu didn’t care about Su Ruofei that much. Su Ruofei, however, was upset and rushed back to confront Yun Mu, accusing him of failing to restore her musical status and not allowing her into the Huan Le Fang.

Yun Mu explained that it wasn’t the right time yet but promised to fulfill his commitment. Su Ruofei didn’t believe Yun Mu, but with no other options, she stormed off angrily. Yun Mu, seeing her anger, was glad he had other plans prepared. Yun Mu specially prepared some fine rouge to visit his mother, also asking her for the musical scores she had copied last time.

His mother talked about Yun Mu’s current big matters, guessing that Yun Mu might like Su Ruoshan. Yun Mu hurriedly left without giving much explanation. Jin Shangyu tried to persuade Su Ruofei to return to Yun Yao with him, but Su Ruofei refused, determined not to let Yun Mu get off easily. She was resolved to vent her anger.

Jin Shangyu promised to help her with all his might, but he could see that Su Ruofei had developed feelings for Yun Mu. As Jin Shangyu was about to leave, he ran into Yun Mu, who scolded Jin Shangyu for coming to see his music courtesan without permission and ordered the guards to be replaced so no one could enter the residence without authorization. Jin Shangyu accused Yun Mu of breaking his promise.

Yun Mu originally intended to let Su Ruofei enter the Huan Le Fang but was worried that she might get too close to Jin Shangyu, causing him to change his mind. When Su Ruofei saw Yun Mu approaching, she cursed him thoroughly, but Yun Mu wasn’t angry. He believed that since she was his woman, it was his duty to spoil her. At this moment, Yun Shang also arrived to see Yun Mu.

He mentioned that tomorrow he had arranged for Su Ruoshan to lead the music performance and hoped to be the most impressive person in front of her. Tomorrow was a grand centennial celebration, and Yun Mu also planned to take Su Ruofei to witness it. Su Ruofei outwardly agreed to behave well but secretly planned to give Yun Mu a "surprise" as revenge. Yun Shang had specially made a luxurious outfit for Su Ruoshan and sent it to her.

Su Ruoshan pretended to decline it several times, but after putting it on, she admired herself in the mirror, thinking she looked stunning. She knew all of this was the result of her own hard work. The next day, at the grand performance, Su Ruoshan’s konghou performance was exceptional. Yun Mu praised her as unparalleled, and Su Ruofei also complimented her sister’s skill.

Yun Shang took the opportunity to compliment Su Ruofei as well, but Su Ruofei didn’t relay this message to Yun Mu. Yun Mu reminded Su Ruofei that she needed to pass on every message. Su Ruofei agreed outwardly but secretly planned to play a trick on Yun Mu by deliberately passing on the wrong message. Luckily, she corrected it at the last moment.

Yun Mu, seizing the opportunity to liven up the atmosphere, invited Yun Shang to beat the drum and gong. Yun Shang was pleased but reminded Yun Mu that no jokes should be made on such important occasions in the future.

Episode 11 Recap

Yun Mu left the scene in despair. Su Ruofei, realizing she had made a mistake, hurried to apologize, but Yun Mu only wanted some peace and quiet. Xiao Qi, dissatisfied with Su Ruofei's actions, scolded her for betraying Yun Mu and nearly exposing him. However, Yun Mu couldn’t bear to scold Su Ruofei, so he took Xiao Qi and left. Later that evening, Xiao Qi brought some snacks to Su Ruofei, who innocently ate them.

Xiao Qi pretended to have poisoned the snacks to scare her, and then he revealed to Su Ruofei how hard things had been for Yun Mu over the years, including his hearing loss and the constant dangers surrounding him. He told her how happy Yun Mu had been when he first heard Su Ruofei’s drum sound. Feeling guilty, Su Ruofei promised she wouldn’t make the same mistake again.

Xiao Qi then left, telling Su Ruofei that the snacks only had flour in them and were not poisoned. Su Ruofei willingly wrote a letter of apology and sent it to Yun Mu, using a hand bell to play a melody as a gesture of remorse. Yun Mu forgave Su Ruofei and gave her the musical piece his mother had transcribed, practicing it with her. As they looked at each other, their hearts filled with affection.

This piece of music was Su Ruofei’s favorite, and she had even created different versions of it, hoping to one day play it for her idol, Lady Yaoshan. Yun Mu offered to take Su Ruofei to meet Lady Yaoshan, but Su Ruofei declined, feeling unqualified since she was not yet capable of entering the Huan Le Fang. For now, she wanted to be Yun Mu’s ears.

Yun Mu told her that ever since she came into his life, everything had changed. Embarrassed by Yun Mu’s passionate gaze, Su Ruofei shyly found an excuse to leave. Xiao Qi cleaned Yun Mu’s room, and Yun Mu thought Xiao Qi was trying to please him, so he granted Xiao Qi two days of rest. Xiao Qi expressed his loyalty, saying many heartfelt things, which moved Yun Mu, unaware that these were Xiao Qi’s final words.

After Xiao Qi left, Su Ruofei came in with a list Xiao Qi had given her, detailing Yun Mu’s preferences. Yun Mu suddenly realized something was wrong and rushed to Xiao Qi’s room, only to find him attempting to hang himself. Yun Mu managed to save him, and Xiao Qi confessed that, years ago, he had vowed that only two people would know about Yun Mu’s hearing loss. Now that Su Ruofei knew, Xiao Qi felt he deserved to die.

Yun Mu didn’t blame Xiao Qi and urged him never to harm himself again. Xiao Qi, grateful for Yun Mu’s forgiveness, was happy to continue following him. Yun Mu had been haunted by guilt ever since he failed to prevent the suicide of Chief Steward Wang and couldn’t bear the thought of losing Xiao Qi too. Yun Mu decided to go to the palace to plead with his father to let Su Ruofei join the Huan Le Fang.

Unexpectedly, Jin Shangyu was there as well. Both men realized the other’s intentions and raced to see the ruler. Together, they suggested holding another "Hidden Talent" competition to recruit new talented individuals. The ruler, seeing they had the same goal, readily agreed. Jin Shangyu hadn’t expected Yun Mu to be his rival this time, and he silently vowed to win.

Yun Mu brought the good news back to Su Ruofei, not only helping her restore her musical status but also giving her a chance to participate in the "Hidden Talent" competition. He also arranged for Master Ling to personally coach Su Ruofei on the guqin. Su Ruofei felt confident about the upcoming competition.

She went with Master Ling to the Huan Le Fang to practice, but she was worried about Yun Mu, so she came back to discuss it with him. She proposed that Xiao Qi take care of Yun Mu during the day while she snuck back at night to sleep with him. Yun Mu couldn’t help but spit out his water in surprise.

However, seeing how much Su Ruofei cared about him, he told her that everything had been arranged and she should focus on her practice. Word of the competition soon spread throughout the Huan Le Fang, and everyone knew it was Su Ruofei and Jin Shangyu who had jointly proposed the "Hidden Talent" competition. This made Su Ruoshan anxious, suspecting that Su Ruofei was coming back. Sure enough, during the roll call, Su Ruofei’s name was called, along with Huang Ying.

Yun Mu stayed outside the Huan Le Fang, wanting to see Su Ruofei. Xiao Qi suggested he should go inside, but Yun Mu, worried that his presence might affect Su Ruofei, preferred to watch from outside. During the first round of the competition, everyone performed well, and Yun Mu could hear Su Ruofei’s music from outside, thinking it sounded pretty good and that at least she wasn’t nervous.

As more people were eliminated, the competition advanced to the third round, where the difficulty increased. In the end, Wu Wei, Liu Xinnian, Huang Ying, and Su Ruofei stood out from the crowd and earned spots as new members of the Huan Le Fang. Su Ruoshan came to find Su Ruofei, playfully scolding her for not giving advance notice. Su Ruofei explained that she had been busy practicing and didn’t have time.

Su Ruoshan outwardly acted unconcerned and affectionate, happy to be with her sister again, but inwardly she was displeased. She remembered how, when she was accepted into Qing Yin, their father had given her the Qing Yin belt. However, her happiness was short-lived when she overheard people saying that Su Ruofei had already been accepted into Qing Yin long before her.

Episode 12 Recap

After Su Ruofei was accepted into Huan Le Fang, Yun Mu threw a celebration in her honor, with singing, dancing, and a lavish spread of food and drink. Su Ruofei was overjoyed and drank a lot, eventually joining the dancers. Yun Mu, seeing her so beautiful and graceful, couldn't help but be moved. He took her hand, and they danced together, much to Su Ruofei's delight.

After sending her home, Su Ruofei held onto Yun Mu's neck, refusing to let go, and Yun Mu couldn't resist kissing her. The next morning, Su Ruofei woke up with a splitting headache, remembering dancing with Yun Mu but forgetting what happened afterward. As she tried to get out of bed, she noticed Yun Mu sleeping beside her. Alarmed, Su Ruofei quickly checked her body, and after finding nothing unusual, she breathed a sigh of relief.

She tried to quietly get out of bed, but the movement woke Yun Mu. Embarrassed, Su Ruofei shyly asked if anything had happened the previous night, but seeing Yun Mu’s teasing smile, she lost the courage to continue her question and hurriedly found an excuse to send Yun Mu away. In Su Ruofei’s mind, pretending not to know meant she truly didn’t know. When Su Ruofei and the others gathered for practice, Jin Shangyu decided to give them a special lesson.

Huang Ying was convinced that Jin Shangyu had come to teach because she was there. However, the others in Huan Le Fang bombarded Jin Shangyu with questions, so he proposed playing a duet with someone to demonstrate what true musical harmony was. He chose Su Ruofei to perform with him.

Su Ruofei initially thought they wouldn’t play well together without rehearsal, but to her surprise, their performance was seamless, leaving the crowd thinking that Su Ruofei was favored by Jin Shangyu. Yun Mu, seeing that it was late and Su Ruofei hadn’t returned, anxiously paced back and forth. When he spotted Xiao Qi’s figure outside the window, he quickly pretended to calmly sit down and read, but it was obvious his book was upside down.

Yun Mu asked Xiao Qi about the day’s practice, learning about Su Ruofei's duet with Jin Shangyu. Feeling jealous, Yun Mu questioned Su Ruofei when she returned, even bringing up her promise letter. Su Ruofei, realizing Yun Mu had someone watching her, became even more upset. That night, Yun Mu tossed and turned, unable to sleep, constantly thinking about how troublesome Jin Shangyu was. His restlessness kept Su Ruofei awake, as they were tied together by a string.

Annoyed, Su Ruofei explained that her relationship with Jin Shangyu was normal and that she was free to interact with him. Furthermore, Jin Shangyu was a musician, and their learning was legitimate, so there was no need for Yun Mu to keep tabs on her. This only provoked Yun Mu, who explained that he had people watching her purely for her protection and had no other intentions. After saying this, he untied the string and walked out.

Su Ruofei realized that Yun Mu might be jealous and couldn't help but feel a bit pleased. The next morning, Su Ruofei woke up to sweet Hami melon, which made her happy, though she didn’t want to be so easily swayed by a few slices of melon. In Huang Ying’s group, no one liked her, thinking she was hard to work with. Some even thought it was better that she didn’t come to practice.

Jin Shangyu was displeased by this, hoping they could be more understanding and united as a group. Su Ruofei defended Huang Ying, saying she was just eccentric but still a good person. Just then, a commotion arose outside, and everyone went to see what was happening, discovering that Yun Mu had arrived, insisting on joining the practice session. Several girls asked Jin Shangyu what kind of woman he liked, and Jin Shangyu described someone like Su Ruofei.

When asked what kind of woman Yun Mu liked, Yun Mu replied that he liked the same type as Jin Shangyu, sparking a silent rivalry between the two. Su Ruoshan invited Yun Mu to listen to her music. Yun Mu agreed, but his mind was elsewhere, preoccupied with thoughts of who Su Ruofei liked. Su Ruoshan, noticing Yun Mu's distraction, stopped playing and directly asked what he was thinking about.

Yun Mu believed Su Ruoshan knew Su Ruofei best, so he asked her about who Su Ruofei liked. Annoyed, Su Ruoshan replied that Su Ruofei was thrilled to meet Jin Shangyu again, even calling it a long-awaited reunion, causing Yun Mu to suspect that Su Ruofei might like Jin Shangyu. As Su Ruoshan was seeing Yun Mu off, Su Ruofei saw them together and mistakenly thought that Yun Mu liked Su Ruoshan.

Sitting under a tree, Su Ruofei couldn’t help but think about the moment she kissed Yun Mu. At that moment, Jin Shangyu approached, and Su Ruofei asked him about the feeling of longing. Jin Shangyu, flustered, expressed his own feelings for Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei seemed to have an epiphany and patted Jin Shangyu’s hand, thanking him for his insight, as she had gained a vague understanding of longing.

This scene was witnessed by Yun Mu, who angrily grabbed Su Ruofei and tried to leave. Jin Shangyu stepped forward to stop them, and it seemed the two were about to argue again. Su Ruofei quickly stepped in to diffuse the situation and left with Yun Mu.

Episode 13 Recap

Because Yun Mu was jealous, he couldn't sleep that night, tossing and turning. Su Ruofei was also unable to sleep due to feeling misunderstood and uncomfortable. They called Xiao Qi to relay their frustrations to each other, leading to an argument between them. Xiao Qi, overwhelmed by the situation, pushed aside the screen to let them argue it out, but surprisingly, the two ended up going to sleep instead.

To find out what kind of person Yun Mu liked, Su Ruofei secretly sneaked into his study and discovered that a portrait there looked familiar—almost identical to her own. She immediately suspected it was a trap. The next day, when Su Ruofei arrived at Huan Le Fang, Yun Mu came along too. Su Ruofei noticed that the girls were all dressed like her, because Jin Shangyu had publicly declared that he liked her the day before.

Su Ruoshan intentionally pulled Su Ruofei aside and asked if her crush was Jin Shangyu. Su Ruofei shook her head, but Su Ruoshan didn't believe her and thought Su Ruofei was lying. Later, after Su Ruofei left, Su Ruoshan deliberately told Yun Mu that Su Ruofei's crush was Jin Shangyu, planting seeds of doubt in Yun Mu’s mind.

Huang Ying knew that Su Ruofei’s favorite was the drum, so she pretended to want to see it but ended up smashing the drumhead with a punch. Yun Mu was furious and warned Huang Ying that if she did it again, she would be disqualified and expelled from Huan Le Fang. Jin Shangyu took Huang Ying aside to reprimand her and asked why she had acted so angrily.

Huang Ying admitted that she was upset because Jin Shangyu liked Su Ruofei. She pointed out that the other girls had dressed like Su Ruofei because they knew Jin Shangyu liked her. Huang Ying sarcastically criticized Jin Shangyu for not having the courage to confess his feelings, suggesting that he was afraid of losing Su Ruofei and might even worry about not being friends in the future.

Huang Ying asserted that Jin Shangyu lacked the courage to confess, whereas she herself could openly express her feelings. Jin Shangyu seemed to be jolted by this and decided to gather his courage to confess to Su Ruofei. He hoped she would accept his feelings, but Su Ruofei responded that she already had someone she liked. Yun Mu then arrived and tried to pull Su Ruofei away.

Jin Shangyu accused Yun Mu of being loved by many, and Yun Mu boldly confessed his own love for Su Ruofei in public, hoping for a response. Su Ruofei nodded and admitted that she liked Yun Mu. Yun Mu then kissed Su Ruofei deeply, and Su Ruoshan, witnessing this, felt an intense jealousy. Jin Shangyu quietly left. On their way home, Su Ruofei felt shy, and Yun Mu hoped she would perform well and not disappoint him during the selection process.

Su Ruofei agreed, but then an elderly man deliberately bumped into Yun Mu. Though the man’s lips moved, he made no sound, seemingly testing Yun Mu. Fortunately, Su Ruofei noticed and warned Yun Mu, ensuring no flaws were exposed. Su Ruofei later asked Xiao Qi to investigate and learned that someone had intentionally tried to test Yun Mu.

The man was sent by Lord Huang, who suspected Yun Mu had a problem with his hearing but had no evidence to prove it. He was afraid that mentioning it might make Yun Shang not believe him. Yun Mu planned to repair Su Ruofei’s drum using the skin of the Ling Xiao drum, a treasured war drum kept by his father.

As the country was at peace, the drum had not been used, and Su Ruofei was touched to learn about its origin. She vowed never to speak ill of Yun Mu again. That night, Yun Mu noticed that Su Ruofei was still awake despite seeming to be asleep. Su Ruofei stopped pretending and asked about Yun Mu's relationship with Su Ruoshan.

Yun Mu explained that he and Su Ruoshan were good friends, and he had been saved by her many years ago. He promised to share their story with Su Ruofei when he had the chance. He had also visited Su Ruoshan to find out who Su Ruofei liked. Su Ruofei felt reassured, and Yun Mu couldn’t help but kiss her. The next day, as Su Ruofei arrived at Huan Le Fang, she was immediately surrounded by a group of people.

Before they could say anything, Yun Mu stepped in to protect Su Ruofei, announcing to everyone that Su Ruofei was his fiancée and his most cherished one, making it clear that Su Ruofei should not be bullied. Su Ruoshan was enraged upon hearing this news. She felt that Su Ruofei was certain to win and that there was no comparison between them. Nonetheless, Su Ruoshan was determined to win.

When the room was empty, her restless alter ego emerged, urging her to continue dealing with Su Ruofei and not let her efforts go to waste. Su Ruofei took out the “Xiang Si Yin” piece and invited Huang Ying to join. Huang Ying agreed graciously, and the previous awkwardness was gone, though Jin Shangyu was still working on his emotional skills and hadn’t emerged yet.

At this point, Su Ruoshan approached Su Ruofei privately, pleading with her to let Yun Mu go. Su Ruofei responded that she couldn’t make decisions for Yun Mu regarding feelings, as love couldn’t be transferred. Su Ruoshan proposed a shared relationship, but Su Ruofei rejected this as well. From then on, Su Ruoshan harbored even more resentment toward Su Ruofei.

Episode 14 Recap

Su Ruoshan specifically invited Yun Mu to listen to her play the konghou. The piece, named "Jadeite Longing," was composed by her for the competition, and she hoped Yun Mu would help compose the latter part. She also wanted to know if Yun Mu still had feelings for her after all these years, as her own heart had always harbored the memory of the young jadeite. At that moment, the chandelier above suddenly fell.

Su Ruoshan protected the jadeite, resulting in an injury to her leg. Yun Mu quickly took her to get treated. Yun Mu hadn’t expected Su Ruoshan to have such deep feelings for her and planned to clarify things quickly. At this point, Su Ruofei arrived, but Su Ruoshan refused to see her, sending her away and continuing to question Yun Mu about his feelings.

Yun Mu expressed that he only felt gratitude towards Su Ruoshan, with no romantic feelings, which left Su Ruoshan uncomfortable. Noticing the tension between the sisters, Yun Mu held Su Ruofei and asked for the reason. Su Ruofei pointed at Yun Mu’s chest, implying that he should know the reason. Yun Mu was puzzled as to why the chandelier had suddenly fallen. After an investigation, he suspected that it might have been chewed through by a rat.

However, after a thorough inspection, Yun Mu found it strange that there would be rats in that area. Yun Shang came to visit Su Ruoshan and showed great concern for her. Su Ruoshan, realizing the importance of this support, improved her attitude towards Yun Shang and even used the cane he gave her to walk. At this time, Yun Mu also came to see the luxurious carriage sent by Yun Shang.

A ragged little girl touched the carriage but was harshly whipped, injuring her arm. Su Ruoshan saw a reflection of her own past and harshly reprimanded the person who whipped the girl. She took the girl onto the carriage and showed her the scars on her own arm, hoping the girl would endure hardships and eventually achieve success. Yun Mu didn’t know Su Ruoshan’s backstory, just that she had a kind heart.

After sending Su Ruoshan back, she remembered her own childhood experience of being whipped after touching a carriage, resulting in scars. Later, Su Ruoshan accidentally saved Su Ruofei, who was adopted by Su Ruofei’s parents, and from then on considered herself a young lady. Su Ruofei’s group performed "Xiang Si Yin" with a tearful and plaintive rendition that was highly appreciated by everyone present.

Ling Le praised Su Ruofei, but Yun Shang felt that no one played as well as Su Ruoshan. After the judges’ evaluation, Su Ruofei’s group won first place. Yun Shang, dissatisfied, insisted that Su Ruoshan, who was injured, should also participate, even suggesting a rematch at Su Ruoshan’s residence. He also criticized Su Ruofei, implying that winning in such a manner was not honorable. Su Ruofei agreed to a second evaluation for Su Ruoshan.

Su Ruofei went to find Su Ruoshan on behalf of everyone. Su Ruoshan intentionally asked Su Ruofei to fetch her a cup of water but accidentally spilled the oil pot. Feeling guilty, Su Ruofei offered to borrow some oil from Jin Shangyu. Su Ruoshan believed that asking Jin Shangyu was inappropriate due to their differing statuses and recommended someone else for Su Ruofei to borrow from.

After borrowing the oil, Su Ruofei mentioned the competition, but Su Ruoshan thought Su Ruofei only agreed because she was confident of winning, similar to Yun Mu’s situation. Su Ruofei explained that Yun Mu was different, but Su Ruoshan refused to listen and sent Su Ruofei away, stating she needed to practice the piano in the instrument room. When everyone arrived, the instrument room was on fire. Su Ruofei stood outside, and people suspected her of starting the fire.

Yun Shang insisted on having Su Ruofei arrested, but Jin Shangyu stepped up to defend her. Su Ruofei insisted she was innocent and would clear things up. Su Ruoshan pretended to be kind, advising Yun Shang not to trouble Su Ruofei. In the jail, when the officer in charge was unsure how to handle the case, Yun Mu arrived.

The officer, aware of Yun Mu’s relationship with Su Ruofei, dared not ask privately and directed his attention to Yun Mu and his group. They questioned Su Ruofei about the incident. Su Ruofei explained everything, but no one could definitively prove that she hadn’t started the fire, nor could they prove she had. Yun Mu whispered reassurances to Su Ruoshan, promising that he would ensure Su Ruofei’s release.

While Huang Ying and Jin Shangyu were investigating in the piano room, they discovered the scent of night-blooming flowers, suggesting that the fire might have been caused by someone within Huan Le Fang. Huang Ying said she could find evidence, and Yun Mu respectfully asked for her help. Huang Ying found an item that had been used to hold lamp oil.

Episode 15 Recap

After Su Ruoshan finished playing, the judges deliberated and concluded that her performance was not as good as Su Ruofei's. However, because Su Ruofei had allegedly set fire to the instrument room, she was disqualified, and Su Ruoshan was declared the winner. Just then, someone arrived with evidence. It was discovered that a significant amount of lamp oil had been found at the scene, more than usual. Someone then mentioned that Su Ruofei had borrowed lamp oil from them.

Su Ruofei explained that she had spilled her sister’s oil and had borrowed some as a result. However, when they checked Su Ruoshan’s lamp oil, it was all there. Su Ruoshan refused to speak on Su Ruofei’s behalf and even accused her of lying, stating that her lamp oil had never been spilled.

Every lamp oil container had its owner’s name on it, and Yun Shang asked everyone to check the bottom of the container, which indeed had Su Ruoshan’s name. Su Ruoshan confidently told everyone that her lamp oil had never been spilled. With no other choice, the officer took Su Ruofei back into custody, as she remained the primary suspect. Yun Mu reassured Su Ruofei to trust him and follow the officer for now, promising to uncover the truth.

Jin Shangyu chased after the officer, attempting to stop them from taking Su Ruofei, but Yun Shang intervened, ordering the officer to arrest anyone who interfered. Not wanting to implicate Jin Shangyu, Su Ruofei willingly followed the officer. In the cell, tears streamed down Su Ruofei’s face as she repeatedly thought about Su Ruoshan's words, confused as to why she would treat her so harshly.

Meanwhile, Yun Mu stayed in his room to investigate the root of the issue, sending Xiao Qi to gather information about Su Ruofei. Yun Mu was certain Su Ruofei had been framed, but without concrete evidence or knowing who was behind it, he couldn’t understand why anyone would harbor such animosity toward an innocent girl. Still, Yun Mu swore to bring Su Ruofei back.

The lord and his wife were watching the musicians perform, and Lady Yaoshan praised Su Ruoshan, having also heard that Yun Mu had once publicly kissed a girl with the surname Su at Huan Yue Fang. She assumed it was Su Ruoshan, and the lord’s opinion of Su Ruoshan improved. The lord praised Yun Mu for his essential role in selecting musicians for the event and rewarded those who performed well.

He especially praised Su Ruoshan, seeing her as a promising candidate for the position of chief musician. He believed Su Ruoshan had the same grace as Lady Yaoshan in her youth. The lord then suggested giving a grand gift to both Yun Mu and Su Ruoshan, strongly implying a potential marriage arrangement. Yun Shang overheard this and quickly pulled Yun Mu aside, scolding him for getting involved with Su Ruoshan.

Yun Mu suggested they go speak to the lord to clarify things. Yun Shang explained to the lord that he and Su Ruoshan were mutually in love, while Yun Mu was actually in love with Su Ruofei. Upon hearing Su Ruofei’s name, the lord immediately recalled that she was the one accused of burning down the instrument room.

In Huan Yue City, such a crime was a serious offense, and the lord declared that Su Ruofei was unworthy of Yun Mu. Yun Mu tried to argue, but the lord was too angry to listen and insisted that a decree for the marriage would be issued in a few days. Yun Mu knelt in the side hall for an entire night, refusing to leave or eat.

When Lady Yaoshan learned of this, she chastised the lord for not caring about Yun Mu. The lord argued that he was only granting the marriage because of Lady Yaoshan’s suggestion, but he wasn’t heartless. However, he also felt that he couldn’t go back on his word. Lady Yaoshan blamed herself for mismatching the couple and vowed to kneel alongside Yun Mu if the lord didn’t forgive him.

Although the lord loved his wife, he still insisted that Su Ruofei could not be with Yun Mu and should be banished from Huan Yue City. Lady Yaoshan went to comfort Yun Mu and learned from him that he didn’t like Su Ruoshan at all but truly loved Su Ruofei.

Lady Yaoshan reflected on how the lord had become a great ruler after marrying her, the chief musician, and hoped that Yun Mu would also marry someone of high standing to secure his position. She then informed Yun Mu that the lord had decided to banish Su Ruofei, considering it the best outcome.

Yun Shang, who had been waiting outside, found out that the issue remained unresolved and immediately declared that he wouldn’t let Su Ruoshan be taken by anyone else. Yun Mu then went to Su Ruoshan and told her that they couldn’t be together, as it would only cause harm. He promised to do anything for her except marry her.

Su Ruoshan, however, expressed that she had spent years dreaming of being with the young jadeite boy, and seeing Yun Mu made her want nothing more than his heart. Unable to convince her, Yun Mu had no choice but to leave. Su Ruoshan’s second personality appeared in the mirror, reminding her that emotions didn’t matter, and her ultimate goal was to advance in her career.

Su Ruoshan had originally concocted the night-blooming flower scent to please Lady Yaoshan, but it had unexpectedly come in handy. She had also planned the chandelier incident, and this latest scheme was no accident either. Yun Mu, feeling helpless and defeated, blamed himself for not being able to protect the one he loved. Though he knew Su Ruoshan was innocent, he couldn’t exonerate her. Desperate, Yun Shang ordered Master Huang to lead an assassination attempt on Yun Mu.

Master Huang hesitated, concerned that this would expose them, but Yun Shang, blinded by love, didn’t care. He had spared Yun Mu before out of sentiment, but now, for the sake of love, he was determined to kill Yun Mu.

Episode 16 Recap

Huang Ying and Jin Shangyu came to visit Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei told them that Su Ruoshan had framed her but didn’t understand why she was being set up. Huang Ying, speaking too quickly, also revealed the news about the lord's arranged marriage, causing Su Ruofei to tear up. She guessed that the reason for the framing was that Su Ruoshan wanted to marry Yun Mu.

Yun Mu carefully inspected the place where the chandelier had fallen and discovered marks on the bamboo from the strings of an instrument, suspecting that Su Ruoshan had orchestrated the event and wondering what her true motives were. People at Huan Yue Fang gossiped, believing Su Ruofei to be a villain, but both Jin Shangyu and Huang Ying defended her. Yun Mu teamed up with the two of them to cautiously investigate Su Ruoshan.

Meanwhile, Xiao Qi was poisoned and injured, remaining unconscious. After examining him, the doctor predicted that he might stay unconscious for several more days. Yun Mu took good care of him. Lord Huang's men were behind the attack on Xiao Qi. Hearing that Xiao Qi had only been injured, Lord Huang felt satisfied, thinking that Yun Mu had lost a key ally, and it was now time to eliminate Yun Mu.

Yun Mu had a nightmare in which Yun Shang captured Su Ruofei for Su Ruoshan and killed her. He woke up in a fright. Su Ruoshan came to visit Su Ruofei in her cell and told her that she could leave, but her musician registration had been revoked, and she had to leave the area.

With only the two of them there, Su Ruoshan dropped her facade and revealed her true nature, admitting that she was only after the position of chief musician. She told Su Ruofei that none of this would have happened if Su Ruofei hadn’t come here. At that moment, Yun Mu arrived and took Su Ruofei’s hand, leading her away, leaving Su Ruoshan visibly disappointed.

Su Ruofei explained that she didn’t commit the crime, and Yun Mu believed her, but he felt powerless because all the evidence pointed to her. Yun Mu suggested that Su Ruofei should leave, as that would be the best option. Su Ruofei, heartbroken, cried as she looked at Yun Mu, thinking that he wanted her gone so he could marry Su Ruoshan.

Su Ruoshan wanted to go explain the situation to the lord, but Yun Mu stopped her, believing that no one would listen to Su Ruofei’s words. He ordered his subordinates to escort Su Ruofei out of Huan Yue City without any stops. As Su Ruofei left, she cried and couldn’t help but look back at Yun Mu, who coldly turned away and walked back inside.

Su Ruofei, drenched in the heavy rain, left, while Yun Mu hid behind the door, crying. On the street, Jin Shangyu and Huang Ying encountered the guards escorting Su Ruofei. Jin Shangyu volunteered to escort her himself, assuring the guards that he would take responsibility if anything went wrong, and the guards left. Su Ruofei, persuaded by Jin Shangyu, decided to return to Lu Guang Music House, where Shi Yi and Ah Biao were waiting.

Huang Ying also agreed to join them. Lord Huang felt that an assassination attempt at this time would be unwise, suspecting that Yun Mu was setting a trap. However, Yun Shang pressured Lord Huang to act, claiming that Yun Mu was celebrating his upcoming marriage to Su Ruoshan since Su Ruofei had already been sent away. Although Lord Huang sensed danger, he couldn’t resist Yun Shang's urging and left with a resolute expression, ready to face death.

Huang Ying, Jin Shangyu, and Su Ruofei drank together, and Huang Ying, without realizing it, got drunk. Craving some candied hawthorn, Jin Shangyu quickly went out to buy some. Huang Ying smugly thought that Jin Shangyu must like her but was too stubborn to admit it. At that moment, they overheard people discussing how Yun Mu's residence had been attacked by assassins and that Yun Mu was injured.

Huang Ying, anxious with worry, asked someone to take care of Huang Ying and rushed back. Lord Huang had indeed fallen into the trap and was captured by Xiao Qi, who revealed that he had faked his injury and poisoning earlier to lure Yun Shang into making a move. Upon realizing it was Lord Huang behind the plot, Xiao Qi’s suspicions were confirmed.

Lord Huang, using a special fire pill called Huo Lin Wan, set himself on fire, reducing his body to ashes and leaving no evidence for Yun Mu. Yun Shang was devastated when he heard the news. He wanted to rescue Lord Huang, but the guards stopped him, telling him that Lord Huang knew he wouldn’t return when he left.

Lord Huang had also instructed Yun Shang to take good care of Yun Mu and to protect him for the rest of his life. Yun Mu was filled with guilt. Su Ruofei came to Yun Mu's room and saw the jadeite stone, surprised to find it there. Upon questioning, they realized that Su Ruofei was the real jadeite youth, and she had named the stone.

Su Ruofei recalled their first meeting in the woods, when they had split the jadeite in half with plans to cultivate it and use it as a symbol of their encounter. However, the larger piece had been taken by Yun Mu, which led Su Ruofei to nickname him “the stingy ghost. ”Su Ruofei took out her pan flute and played the song she had played the first time they met.

Yun Mu, moved, embraced Su Ruofei, realizing that it was really her all along. However, they couldn’t understand why the jadeite had ended up with Su Ruoshan. Su Ruofei had thought she lost the jadeite but was shocked to discover that Su Ruoshan had been using it to impersonate her. Su Ruofei had mistakenly believed that Yun Mu had sent her away because of his feelings for the jadeite girl.

Yun Mu explained that he was forced to act by the lord’s orders, but Su Ruofei was even more heartbroken. She left in tears, thinking Yun Mu had abandoned her for wealth and the jadeite girl. As Su Ruofei walked away, Yun Mu reached out to stop her but, in the end, didn’t extend his hand.

Episode 17 Recap

Su Ruofei came out of the room with tears in her eyes. Jin Shangyu, worried about her, had come to look for her. Seeing Su Ruofei crying, Jin Shangyu didn’t ask many questions. Su Ruofei explained that she had come to take care of some matters, which were now finished, and the two left together. Yun Mu watched Su Ruofei leave, feeling unsettled. Xiao Qi, knowing Yun Mu’s feelings, couldn’t understand why he acted this way.

Yun Mu explained that everything he did was for Su Ruofei, but going to the lord without evidence would be futile. After returning, Su Ruofei kept thinking about her past with Yun Mu. She looked at the bell bracelet on her hand, recalling their every interaction and intimate moment. Finally, Su Ruofei made up her mind to cut the bracelet, and the moment it fell to the ground, it seemed to sever her feelings for Yun Mu.

As Yun Mu was looking at the jadeite, Xiao Qi came to report that all the evidence from Lord Huang had been destroyed. Yun Mu planned to send Yun Shang a gift, but whether Yun Shang dared to accept it was another matter. Yun Shang, on his side, constantly had people gather information. He had instructed them to report immediately if any bones were found.

Upon hearing that Yun Mu had arrived, Yun Shang grabbed a sword, ready to fight, but his subordinates held him back, urging him not to act rashly. When Yun Shang saw Yun Mu, he pretended to be concerned about the assassination attempt on Yun Mu. However, Yun Mu presented him with physical evidence and told him that when Lord Huang attempted to assassinate him, he burned himself with a fire pill.

But Yun Shang wasn’t fooled and instead accused Yun Mu of trying to frame him. He threatened to go to the lord for justice. Yun Mu pretended to admit his mistake, ordering his men to throw the bones into a mass grave. Yun Mu ordered the security of his residence to be strengthened and was sure that Yun Shang would act impulsively due to Lord Huang’s death.

He also instructed his subordinates to secretly protect Su Ruofei and report any news immediately. Yun Shang erected a memorial tablet for Lord Huang, but he couldn’t even put a name on it. Filled with guilt and regret, Yun Shang watched helplessly as the bones were sent to the mass grave. Yun Mu confronted Su Ruoshan, straightforwardly telling her that he was taking back half of the jadeite and exposing her for impersonating Su Ruofei.

Su Ruoshan explained that at first, she did it to protect Su Ruofei from trouble, but after meeting Yun Mu, she fell in love with him and continued the impersonation. Yun Mu warned her not to dream of replacing Su Ruofei in his heart. Regarding the incident in the music room, Yun Mu expressed his belief in Su Ruofei and advised Su Ruoshan to behave wisely.

After Yun Mu left, Su Ruoshan was furious and threw her brooch to the ground. Later, Su Ruoshan went to Yun Shang and expressed that she didn’t like the marriage arrangement either. She explained that the lord granted her the marriage because of the rumor that marrying the chief musician was the key to inheriting the lord’s position.

Yun Shang immediately said he would go and explain everything to the lord and revealed that he was the one who had sent people to assassinate Yun Mu. Su Ruoshan persuaded Yun Shang to stop, but Yun Shang believed that since she had built her own empire, if she raised her arm in command, there would naturally be people willing to support her. He viewed Yun Mu as utterly useless.

Su Ruoshan immediately declared that from now on, she would share Yun Shang's fate, for better or worse. This was exactly what Yun Shang wanted to hear, and concerned that Yun Mu might become suspicious, Su Ruoshan even offered Yun Shang some strategic advice. It had been three days since Su Ruofei left, and Yun Mu hadn’t slept at all during this time.

Xiao Qi urged Yun Mu to rest, reminding him that Su Ruofei would be heartbroken if she knew he wasn’t taking care of himself. Last time, she had rushed back upon hearing he was attacked. Xiao Qi added that when Yun Mu saw her again, he couldn’t let Su Ruofei see him looking so exhausted. Yun Mu seemed to find hope in this, believing that he might see Su Ruofei again.

When Yun Shang paid his respects to Lord Huang, he confided his thoughts. He admitted that he knew Su Ruoshan had been using him all along, but he couldn’t help his feelings for her. For the sake of Lord Huang and Su Ruoshan, he vowed to no longer act recklessly and to secure the lord’s position. He then sent a letter to Yun Yao, asking her to deliver it to Yun Xi’s maid.

When Su Ruofei returned home, her parents were overjoyed. They understood why Su Ruoshan hadn’t returned, as she was busy, and they were proud of her achievements. Upon learning that Jin Shangyu was the same Jin Shangyu from Su Ruofei's childhood, her mother was even happier. Jin Shangyu had visited often as a child and could eat a whole basket of steamed buns every time.

Su Ruofei took Jin Shangyu and Huang Ying to her Lu Guang Music House, and everyone was delighted to see Jin Shangyu. Huang Ying introduced herself as Jin Shangyu’s fiancée and announced that she would be joining the music house as well. Everyone welcomed her warmly. Every time Yun Mu received news about Su Ruofei, he was thrilled and wished he could urge his secret guards to gather information faster.

He looked at the jadeite, thinking about the little wildcat far away and wondering what she was doing at that moment. Su Ruofei sat on the second floor of Lu Guang Music House, playing the familiar melody, as tears once again rolled down her cheeks.

Episode 18 Recap

Su Ruofei posted a recruitment notice for Lu Guang Music House. Many people were infatuated when they saw that Jin Shangyu was there, but when they heard rumors that Su Ruofei had failed to seduce Yun Mu and was sent back, many didn’t dare to join. Jin Shangyu warned everyone that if they continued to slander Su Ruofei, he would not let them off.

Yun Mu had also discovered that A Jin had disappeared, and rumors about Su Ruofei had spread after she returned to Yun Yao. Worried, Yun Mu insisted on going to Yun Yao. Xiao Qi feared it was a trap set by their enemies, but the more Yun Mu worried, the more determined he was to go.

The next day, Yun Mu went to ask his father for permission to go to Yun Yao, but the lord reminded him that he was still bound by an engagement. Yun Mu was willing to give up his position as Shaojun just to go to Yun Yao and find the one he loved. Watching Yun Mu’s retreating figure, the lord was so furious that he slumped into his chair.

Although the notice had been posted for days, due to the rumors, no one dared to apply. It seemed like someone was deliberately spreading slander against Su Ruofei. Many people came to Lu Guang Music House, trying to convince Jin Shangyu to join them, but he rebuked them for not being able to distinguish right from wrong. Su Ruofei also drove them away, but someone led the crowd in mocking her tarnished reputation.

At that moment, Yun Mu arrived and declared that he wanted to join Lu Guang Music House. Holding the house's recruitment notice in his hand, Su Ruofei refused him multiple times, but Yun Mu insisted. To make things difficult for him, Su Ruofei agreed, but only if Yun Mu worked as a mere errand boy, a small qin assistant.

Yun Mu accepted without hesitation and urged Su Ruofei to let him stay, assuring her that if he stayed for a while, the rumors would naturally fall apart. Su Ruofei unceremoniously assigned Yun Mu daily chores, such as making tea and cleaning, and instructed that he couldn’t have any help. She even made him live in the courtyard instead of the house and gave him the nickname "Xiao Mu. " Yun Mu didn’t get angry at all and agreed to everything.

Finally, Su Ruofei told him she didn’t want to see him today, so Yun Mu immediately covered his face with his sleeve. Jin Shangyu was surprised that Su Ruofei allowed Yun Mu to stay, but Su Ruofei said she just wanted to see what Yun Mu’s true intentions were.

At first, Eleven and the others didn’t dare boss Yun Mu around, but when they heard about how Yun Mu used to bully Su Ruofei in Fantasy City, they didn’t hold back. Yun Mu covered his face with a handkerchief while serving Su Ruofei tea, wanting to explain, but Su Ruofei refused to listen. Yun Mu knew she had suffered a lot, so he didn’t blame her for her attitude.

After eating Yun Mu’s cooking, A Biao jumped into a water tank, pretending to be a frog. Huang Ying, frightened, rushed to find Jin Shangyu, only to discover that he had already eaten all the food and was showing signs of poisoning. He demanded that Huang Ying play the qin, while he began to dance in an enchanting manner. It turned out that Yun Mu, not knowing the appearance of vegetables, had mistakenly picked toxic herbs.

Su Ruofei demanded that Yun Mu leave, but Yun Mu insisted that he could learn to identify the poisonous plants. He had Monkey draw pictures of the toxic herbs and set off again to pick wild vegetables. Xiao Qi wanted to go with him, but Yun Mu stopped him, reminding him that protecting Lu Guang Music House was the most important task. Xiao Qi was upset with how Su Ruofei treated Yun Mu, believing that Yun Mu had suffered too much.

He accused Su Ruofei of being heartless. Su Ruofei, worried about Yun Mu, quickly followed him, pretending she was searching for a cure for A Biao. Only then was Xiao Qi satisfied. Meanwhile, in the room, Huang Ying tried to force Jin Shangyu to take his medicine, but he refused. In frustration, Huang Ying fed it to him mouth-to-mouth, and to her surprise, Jin Shangyu became addicted, pulling her in for a kiss.

Su Ruofei quietly followed Yun Mu the entire time, but because Yun Mu couldn’t hear, he didn’t notice. Watching Yun Mu seriously gather herbs, Su Ruofei smiled with relief. But just then, Su Ruofei spotted a snake in the tree. She held her breath and stayed still until the snake left, but when she looked again, Yun Mu was gone. Panicked, Su Ruofei hurried to follow him. She tried to contact Yun Mu, but her bell bracelet was missing.

She took out a panpipe and played from a high place. Yun Mu, hearing the sound, recognized it as Su Ruofei’s and quickly followed the sound to find her. Yun Mu was overjoyed to see Su Ruofei there and knew she was worried about him. Su Ruofei stubbornly denied it, but upon finding the herbs, she immediately led Yun Mu back. In the woods, a group of assassins, afraid of causing a disturbance, quickly retreated.

Jin Shangyu questioned Yun Mu’s true reason for coming here. Why had he driven Su Ruofei away before, only to return now? Yun Mu told Jin Shangyu that he had sent Su Ruofei away to protect her and that now, after resigning from his position as Shaojun, he only wanted to stay by Su Ruofei’s side and be with her forever. Su Ruofei overheard these words, and just as Huang Ying arrived, she marveled at Yun Mu’s devotion.

But Su Ruofei couldn’t help but think of Yun Mu’s past mistake of mistaking her for someone else. Feeling hurt, she turned and left.

Episode 19 Recap

Su Ruofei couldn’t sleep, so she went out to find Yun Mu, who was also awake. Yun Mu explained that when you finally see someone you’ve missed for a long time, you can’t sleep. Su Ruofei felt the same but didn’t admit it and instead made up an excuse to return to her room.

Xiao Qi, noticing the weather turning bad, was worried it might rain and concerned that Su Ruofei wouldn’t let Yun Mu stay in the room, fearing he would get soaked. Yun Mu, however, saw it as a good thing, thinking that if it rained, Su Ruofei might soften her attitude. He even made a bet with Xiao Qi, but after half an hour passed with no sign of Su Ruofei, Yun Mu decided to find Jin Shangyu.

Just as he arrived at Jin Shangyu’s room, Su Ruofei appeared with an umbrella. In Jin Shangyu’s room, Yun Mu changed into dry clothes, and the two chatted about Su Ruofei’s childhood. Yun Mu told Jin Shangyu how Su Ruofei had saved him when they were children, giving him the confidence to learn lip reading. He shared that his return this time was to find Su Ruofei, and hearing her drumbeat seemed like a sign from the heavens.

Yun Mu confided in Jin Shangyu that if Yun Shang couldn’t find a way to deal with him, he would target Su Ruofei. That’s why Yun Mu had come here, and he asked Jin Shangyu to protect Su Ruofei if anything happened to him. Jin Shangyu agreed and assured him that even without Yun Mu, he would protect Su Ruofei. The next morning, when Su Ruofei woke up, Yun Mu had already prepared everything.

Xiao Qi reported that a maid named Shuangxi had spread rumors to harm Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei recognized Shuangxi as a maid from her household, who used to serve Su Ruoshan closely. Even after Su Ruofei’s return, Shuangxi still wouldn’t leave her alone. Yun Mu comforted Su Ruofei, promising to protect her, but Su Ruofei didn’t believe him, reminding him that even in Fantasy City, despite protection, she had ended up in jail.

Yun Mu and Jin Shangyu discussed ways to protect Su Ruofei, suggesting that Huang Ying live with her. Yun Mu also intentionally joined them, proposing to stay next to Su Ruofei, just like before, with red strings tied to their wrists so they could sense any disturbance. He vowed to protect Su Ruofei with his life. A Jin sent a detailed report on Yun Mu’s situation in Yun Yao to Yun Shang.

Yun Shang instructed A Jin not to act rashly without absolute certainty, just in case. Su Ruoshan worried that if they killed Yun Mu, they would be punished by the lord, but Yun Shang, having already considered this, wasn’t afraid. With the officials pleading on his behalf, the most he would face was a few hundred lashes. After all, he wasn’t directly involved. Su Ruoshan noticed that Yun Shang had become more composed than before.

That night, while Yun Mu and Xiao Qi were talking outside, they accidentally lit the red string tied to Yun Mu’s wrist. This led Yun Mu to uncover the truth behind the fire in the qin room. At that time, a wax-soaked fuse had been placed in a designated spot, and after calculating the time it would take for the candle to burn out, it ignited the other items.

The timing was also planned so that she would appear with Ling Lezheng and others, providing her with an alibi. Yun Mu excitedly shared his discovery with Su Ruofei, who was touched that Yun Mu had been thinking about this all along. The next day, she put the bell bracelet back on. While preparing breakfast, Yun Mu heard the sound of the bell, making him happy.

However, Su Ruofei’s inner conflict wasn’t completely resolved, leaving Yun Shang somewhat at a loss. Jin Shangyu suggested that once their emotional bonds were mended, everything would be fine. Yun Shang was pleased and offered to help Jin Shangyu with Huang Ying, but Jin Shangyu hurriedly explained that what happened with Huang Ying before was an accident. That night, everyone secretly planned how to help Su Ruofei resolve her inner conflict.

The next day at dinner, everyone eagerly came up with excuses to take the day off. Huang Ying spent the day shopping with Su Ruofei, and they didn’t return until after dark. As they passed through the Lu Guang Forest, Huang Ying suddenly left. Yun Mu appeared with a wooden box filled with fireflies, making Su Ruofei very happy. Yun Mu took out a piece of jade and asked Su Ruofei to forgive him.

He admitted that he had misjudged things because of the jade maiden, but he assured her that his choice to be with her had nothing to do with the jade maiden. From the moment he first saw her, he had been deeply attracted to her and hoped to be with her forever. Their misunderstandings were resolved, and they embraced tightly.

From their hiding place, Huang Ying and the others teased Yun Mu for being so lovestruck, while Jin Shangyu, embarrassed, tried to sneak away, fearing Huang Ying would scold him. Huang Ying chased after Jin Shangyu, and the others quickly retreated to avoid getting caught and reprimanded. Yun Mu and Su Ruofei drifted on a boat in the lake, and ever since their time in the Lu Guang Forest, their fates had been intertwined.

At that moment, their emotions overwhelmed them, and they kissed passionately. Meanwhile, Jin Shangyu visited a vendor to eat buns. As a child, he loved the buns from this shop but had avoided them later out of fear of gaining weight. Now, he no longer cared, feeling a sense of release from everything.

Episode 20 Recap

Since Yun Mu and Su Ruofei reconciled, their relationship has grown rapidly. They even shared a bun, making the others like Shi Yi feel jealous and copy them, which earned them a stern scolding from Su Ruofei. Xiao Qi was leading the guards to protect them and suddenly noticed something unusual, quickly releasing a signal flare.

Yun Mu saw the flare and realized something was wrong, so he hurried to prepare to leave with the others, but they were surrounded by men in black. A Biao was shot by an arrow and died while protecting Su Ruofei. Huang Ying used her unique qin skills to cause the attackers ear pain, allowing Yun Mu and Su Ruofei to escape. Yun Shang personally led the team this time, aiming to kill Yun Mu.

Before setting out, Su Ruoshan had reminded him that it was enough to injure Su Ruofei's wrist so she couldn’t play the qin, but they mustn’t take her life. Su Ruofei fell to the ground with someone stepping on her wrist, causing her bell to ring. Yun Mu rushed to save her, but Yun Shang shot an arrow from a distance. Yun Mu, unable to hear anything, was saved when Su Ruofei took the arrow for him.

Yun Shang ordered his men to surround Yun Mu, but just as things grew critical, Xiao Qi arrived with reinforcements. Yun Shang realized that Yun Mu was deaf and left with his men, having thought of a better way to deal with him. Yun Mu carried Su Ruofei to the Lu Guang Forest, desperately calling her name, but she remained unconscious.

At that moment, the green light in the forest appeared, and Yun Mu, with tears streaming down his face, knelt and begged for Su Ruofei’s life. When the green light vanished, Yun Mu was at a loss, holding Su Ruofei tightly. Then, Su Ruofei’s hand slowly embraced Yun Mu. Realizing she wasn’t dead, Yun Mu was overwhelmed with emotion.

Su Ruofei comforted him, assuring him that she would be fine because Yun Mu was still in danger, and she needed to be his ears to protect him. Yun Mu, holding her tightly, responded that she wasn’t just his ears, but his everything. As they embraced, the jade pendant turned into a sparkling light and gradually disappeared. Su Ruofei and the others gathered to bury A Biao.

Shi Yi and Hou’er swore to avenge A Biao, while Su Ruofei vowed to return to Fantasy Music Hall, compete, and strive to become the Great Music Master. She promised to make Lu Guang Music Hall famous and not let A Biao down. Yun Mu also found a way to clear Su Ruofei’s name. Hearing this, Huang Ying immediately expressed her support and willingness to return with them.

While Su Ruofei was taking medicine, her injured wrist couldn’t hold the bowl, so Yun Mu personally fed her, feeling guilty for not protecting her better. Su Ruofei was also worried about the conflict between Yun Mu and Yun Shang, fearing it might escalate. Yun Mu explained that he originally didn’t want to compete for the lordship and only wished to travel with the person he loved.

But now, he couldn’t stand by and watch Dongsheng fall into the hands of someone like Yun Shang. Su Ruofei expressed her desire to join him in the fight and stand by his side. Yun Mu agreed but insisted that she focus on recovering first. Huang Ying was also injured in the battle, and Jin Shangyu, concerned for her, brought medicine. Huang Ying boldly removed her clothes, wanting Jin Shangyu to apply the medicine.

In her mind, the two of them were already together, having kissed. However, Jin Shangyu stubbornly insisted that it was all an accident, which deeply hurt Huang Ying. She had believed Jin Shangyu’s hesitation was because of Su Ruofei, but now she realized the problem was herself. Upset, Huang Ying left the room first.

Jin Shangyu searched for her all night but couldn’t find her, so he told Yun Mu and Su Ruofei to leave first, promising to meet up with them after finding Huang Ying. As Yun Mu’s group set out, they remained under Yun Shang’s watchful eye. Yun Shang felt that their return to Fantasy City played right into his hands. Jin Shangyu didn’t find Huang Ying, but after arriving in Fantasy City, he reunited with Yun Mu and the others.

Su Ruofei was confident that Huang Ying would return because the music hall had a place for her. Yun Mu, meanwhile, went to the palace to see the lord, bringing with him the burned table corner from Fantasy Music Hall. He claimed that Su Ruofei had been framed, which enraged the lord, who believed Yun Mu had become reckless in his defense of Su Ruofei.

However, Yun Mu argued that regardless of who was wronged, he would seek justice and not allow an innocent person to be mistreated. The lord agreed to investigate but forbade Su Ruofei from entering the music hall until the matter was resolved. Yun Mu accepted this condition. The lord remarked that his son was deeply in love, while Yun Mu commented that he was more like his father, devoted to only one woman—his mother.

Su Ruofei planned to visit Su Ruoshan first to tell her that she had returned and was no longer the naive person she used to be. Accompanied by Jin Shangyu and others, she went to Fantasy Music Hall and issued a challenge for Lu Guang Music Hall to compete against Fantasy Music Hall. Jin Shangyu’s involvement only made the people of Fantasy Music Hall angrier.

Su Ruoshan, with her usual arrogance, treated Su Ruofei with disdain, infuriating Shi Yi even more. Shi Yi, displeased with Su Ruoshan’s attitude, sarcastically reminded her that she used to be no more than the Su family’s coachman. . . Before he could finish, Su Ruofei stopped him. She had no intention of exposing Su Ruoshan’s true identity but was determined to rise through her own merits and become the Great Music Master with dignity.

Episode 21 Recap

Su Ruoshan and Jin Shangyu led their band, performing in the streets with unique and innovative instruments, gaining much praise from the onlookers. Colleagues from Fantasy Music Hall, upon hearing the performance, were full of admiration and actively chatted with Su Ruoshan, remarking that she didn’t resemble her elder sister at all. Shi Yi nearly revealed Su Ruoshan’s true identity, but Su Ruofei stopped him.

The colleagues who heard the performance later went back and praised Su Ruofei's playing, dismissing previous rumors. They believed Yun Mu truly loved Su Ruofei, as evidenced by the fact that no marriage decree had been issued and Yun Mu had traveled a great distance to find her. Su Ruoshan overheard this conversation and, seeing that everyone wanted to listen to the performance, stepped in to stop them, sarcastically dismissing the performance as mere attention-seeking and lowbrow entertainment.

During dinner that evening, Su Ruofei’s wrist was hurting, but she pretended nothing was wrong, not wanting Yun Mu to worry. Jin Shangyu also seemed deep in thought, as if the absence of Huang Ying had drained his spirit. Yun Mu approached Su Ruofei, gently taking her hand and dancing with her. Immersed in their love for each other, Yun Mu couldn’t help but kiss Su Ruofei again, and she smiled in response.

Su Ruoshan went to Yun Shang, blaming him for failing to deal with Su Ruofei properly, which led to her provocation. Yun Shang hurried to calm her down, explaining that Jin had indeed injured Su Ruofei’s wrist, but perhaps not severely enough. He planned to harm Su Ruofei again, but Su Ruoshan stopped him, saying Su Ruofei was no longer qualified to compete and was not a threat. The real focus should be on dealing with Yun Mu.

As it rained heavily, Jin Shangyu wandered aimlessly with an umbrella and encountered an admirer who drunkenly asked for guidance. Jin Shangyu quickly avoided them, and when he reappeared, the admirer had gone. He thought he glimpsed Huang Ying, but when he looked closer, she was nowhere to be seen. Su Ruoshan's group was assigned to lead the music at the Nine Rites Feast and received an invitation.

Ling Yuezheng held high hopes for Su Ruoshan, believing that after this performance, her status would change. Two members of Su Ruofei's former group overheard this and became resentful. When they went out, they happened to run into Hou’er and told him how Su Ruoshan had persecuted Su Ruofei. Hou’er was furious, cursing Su Ruoshan as the daughter of a coachman who dared to bully the daughter of her master, calling her an ingrate.

After getting this information, the two went back and spread the news. Everyone at Fantasy Music Hall ridiculed Su Ruoshan, calling her a pretentious fraud who was just the daughter of a coachman. Yun Shang stood up for Su Ruoshan, punishing a musician named Xu Hao, who had led the bullying. Yun Shang comforted Su Ruoshan, telling her not to be angry, as those people were just spreading rumors.

Su Ruoshan then revealed the truth, saying if Yun Shang cared about status, they should no longer be in contact. But Yun Shang replied that he would soon become the lord, and Su Ruoshan’s status would surpass anyone else’s. Yun Shang showed Su Ruoshan the items from the qin room that had burned down, knowing all along it was her doing, but he had always protected her.

He wasn’t blind, but he truly loved her and knew she was using him, yet he willingly accepted it. As long as he could be with Su Ruoshan, he didn’t care and promised to stay by her side always. Yun Shang hoped Su Ruoshan wouldn’t have feelings for Yun Mu and offered to help her become the Great Music Master. Touched by Yun Shang’s sincerity, Su Ruoshan kissed him and assured him she had never liked Yun Mu.

When Hou’er was being beaten, someone saved him with a flying knife. Jin Shangyu recognized it as something belonging to Huang Ying. Su Ruofei also scolded Hou’er for revealing Su Ruoshan’s identity. That night, Su Ruofei went to Su Ruoshan’s room and played a funeral song in honor of A Biao, while blaming Su Ruoshan for hurting Hou’er. If Hou’er had a loose tongue, then Su Ruoshan was a villain.

Su Ruofei warned Su Ruoshan that their sisterly bond was over and threatened to play her funeral song if she dared to touch her brothers again. Su Ruoshan sneered, mocking Su Ruofei for being incapable of threatening her. Su Ruofei calmly stated that she would become the Great Music Master. Though Su Ruoshan scoffed at this, she felt a hint of unease.

Su Ruofei and her band returned to the streets to perform, playing a flawless piece that drew a large crowd, who cheered for them. After the performance, someone requested to meet Su Ruofei. Yun Mu accompanied her to meet the person, who turned out to be Madam Yaoshan. Su Ruofei immediately knelt, overjoyed to meet her idol.

Madam Yaoshan greatly admired Su Ruofei’s rendition of her song, "Green Light Chant," and personally handed her an invitation to the Nine Rites Feast, hoping Su Ruofei would bring her band to perform. Madam Yaoshan detected some flaws in Su Ruofei's playing, and Su Ruofei explained it was likely due to playing for too long, though in reality, it was because of her injured wrist.

Madam Yaoshan expressed her desire to hear Su Ruofei’s perfect performance on the day of the feast. Jin Shangyu also sensed something was wrong with Su Ruofei, though she didn’t admit it. Yun Mu, however, noticed it was her hand that was the issue and insisted on taking her to see the royal physician. After an examination, the physician said that with proper treatment and massages, there wouldn’t be any serious problems.

Su Ruofei was relieved that she would be able to perform at the Nine Rites Feast. Jin Shangyu smiled with relief as he watched Yun Mu carefully massage Su Ruofei's arm.

Episode 22 Recap

Su Ruoshan heard that Su Ruofei had received the invitation, which unsettled her to the point that she couldn't continue her performance and asked everyone to leave. She knew that this time, there was no turning back between her and Su Ruofei. Xu Hao came to Su Ruoshan seeking reconciliation. His wrist had been broken by Yun Shang, and the diagnosis was confirmed by Imperial Physician Zhang.

Through him, Xu Hao learned that Physician Zhang was treating Su Ruofei and suggested they take the opportunity to sabotage her treatment. Su Ruofei’s injury didn’t improve but worsened, raising Yun Mu’s suspicions. He demanded a consultation from all the imperial physicians. Fearing exposure, Imperial Physician Zhang sought protection from the musician involved but found that the musician was indifferent to his fate. When Zhang tried to leave, Huang Ying caught him.

The imperial physicians conducted a joint consultation and, fortunately, discovered the issue in time, confirming that Su Ruofei could still be treated, though it would take time. At this point, Huang Ying brought in Imperial Physician Zhang, who explained that he had been blackmailed due to his involvement in selling medicinal materials. He had been forced to deliberately insert the needle incorrectly, worsening Su Ruofei’s condition. He knew Xu Hao was following someone’s orders but didn’t know who.

Su Ruofei guessed it must have been Su Ruoshan. Yun Mu comforted Su Ruofei, assuring her that she would recover. When Huang Ying was about to leave, Jin Shangyu persuaded her to stay. Though Huang Ying stubbornly insisted on leaving, Su Ruofei and Yun Mu both came out to ask her to stay. Pretending to be reluctantly convinced, she agreed but emphasized that her staying had nothing to do with Jin Shangyu.

Xu Hao returned to Su Ruoshan, reporting the information he had gathered. He told Su Ruoshan that even if Su Ruofei’s hand healed, it would take a hundred days, meaning she would surely miss the Nine Rites Feast. He also revealed that Yun Mu was deaf, something Su Ruoshan pretended to be surprised by, though she had already known from Yun Mu himself.

The two of them conspired to make this known to the public, believing that no one would agree to let a deaf person become their lord. Lord Liang sent an invitation to Yun Mu, inviting him to a gathering that included over a dozen city lords. Yun Mu was about to find an excuse to decline when Hou’er and Shi Yi arrived, mentioning rumors circulating in the streets that Yun Mu was deaf, which they found unbelievable.

Xiao Qi believed the rumors had been spread by someone close to them, but Yun Mu suspected it was Yun Shang's doing. Since the assassination attempt, Yun Shang had been lying low, perhaps having figured it out back then and was now using this opportunity against him. Thus, Yun Mu couldn’t refuse the invitation, and Su Ruoshan offered to accompany him. At the gathering, Yun Mu deliberately brought up the rumor about him being deaf.

Everyone hurriedly denied it, but one female city lord, her face covered by a veil, spoke in a deliberately hushed voice. Su Ruofei used a hand bell to pass messages to Yun Mu, allowing him to respond flawlessly. To test him further, they had a girl play the pipa, deliberately making mistakes in the music. Su Ruofei quickly signaled the errors to Yun Mu, who pointed them out.

Su Ruofei then feigned illness to leave, and Yun Mu took the opportunity to escort her out, leaving the lords to speculate that the rumors might have been false. After learning about the test, Yun Shang was puzzled as to how Yun Mu could have heard the conversation, especially since one of the city lords had spoken with her face veiled. Then, he suddenly realized that his earlier analysis was wrong.

It wasn’t Xiao Qi who had been passing messages; it was Su Ruofei. However, he couldn’t yet figure out how she was doing it. Yun Shang planned to test them again at the Nine Rites Feast, this time ensuring that Su Ruofei and Yun Mu couldn’t appear together. Meanwhile, Su Ruofei’s injury had fully healed, and Yun Mu placed anklets on her, giving her an exotic look. Su Ruofei and her band were now ready to make a grand performance.

The musicians from Fantasy Music Hall and Greenlight Music Hall jointly performed the song "Triumphant Song," with Fantasy Music Hall starting first. Su Ruoshan didn’t believe that Su Ruofei could defy fate today and played her part with extra force. She couldn’t resist glancing at Su Ruofei, who was clutching her wrist, causing Su Ruoshan to inwardly rejoice. The "Triumphant Song" was composed in two parts. Madam Yaoshan had originally created it for a lord going to war.

Su Ruofei was responsible for playing the first half, and the second half was also Su Ruofei’s part. Su Ruofei took off her shoes and used the anklets to play while dancing, showcasing her talents. Huang Ying’s pipa playing was lively, and with the addition of Jin Shangyu and Yun Mu, the song had the grand momentum of galloping horses. The lords listened with great enjoyment, tapping along to the rhythm.

Su Ruoshan began to feel nervous, and soon, more spectators joined in, clapping along in support of the performance. At this point, Su Ruoshan’s fingernails were digging into the table out of frustration. Su Ruofei’s performance was a huge success, earning her enthusiastic applause from everyone. One of the lords explained the meaning of the song, praising how Su Ruofei’s performance perfectly captured its essence.

He expressed his hope for peace and prosperity for the nation, and everyone stood up together to toast for peace and stability in the land.

Episode 23 Recap

The lord praised Su Ruofei’s performance endlessly and finally understood why his son was fond of her, but he did not make a decision on the spot about who should be appointed as the Grand Music Master. While Su Ruoshan was drinking with everyone, a maid intentionally spilled meat broth on Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei went to change her clothes and disappeared.

Yun Mu wanted to search for her, but Yun Shang grabbed him and wouldn’t let go, while Jin Shangyu and the others hurriedly went to search for Su Ruoshan. After Su Ruofei vanished, Yun Shang brought up the rumor, suggesting that the claim about Yun Mu being deaf was false. He proposed that they verify it on the spot by having the musicians play, asking Yun Mu to listen, using a screen as a barrier to block Su Ruoshan’s performance.

Su Ruoshan played *The Greenlight Melody*, but Yun Mu had no reaction. The lord and lady believed Yun Mu was just being playful and didn’t think he truly couldn’t hear. Meanwhile, Su Ruofei had been locked in a cellar and realized someone was targeting Yun Mu, which was why she had been confined.

Yun Mu remained silent until Yun Shang pressed further, then he revealed the name of the song, sarcastically remarking that the performer’s skill was far inferior to his mother's. Just as he finished speaking, Su Ruofei and the others arrived at the scene. Together, they managed to rescue Su Ruofei. Outside, Su Ruofei had heard the song and passed messages to Yun Mu using her bell, which allowed him to name the song.

This incident proved everything, and the lord immediately appointed Yun Mu as his Right Hand to assist him in managing state affairs. Everyone knelt in sincere reverence, except for Yun Shang, who stood off to the side, furious. The lord also commanded Yun Shang to assist Yun Mu from then on. Lady Yaoshan awarded Su Ruofei the title of the greatest musician in the land, appointing her as the Grand Music Master.

Su Ruoshan, on the other hand, received only a few silver and gold rewards, leaving her secretly furious at her failure. Su Ruofei made a special request, asking to amend some of the old rules, hoping that anyone with dreams and talent could join, not just those from the official music halls. She wanted private music halls to have the chance to perform as well so that the people of Dongsheng could benefit.

Yun Mu also spoke in support of Su Ruofei, and they eventually gained the lord’s approval. Huang Ying and the others had been waiting for Su Ruofei and Yun Shang to come out. Yun Shang was very grateful that they had rescued Su Ruofei. Huang Ying, who has a keen sense of smell for meat, had found Su Ruofei because the maid had spilled meat broth on her clothes.

After returning home, Su Ruoshan, humiliated by her rewards, furiously denied that she had lost to Su Ruofei. Determined to fight again, she began to provoke Yun Shang into killing Yun Mu, not wanting Yun Mu to admit defeat either. Yun Mu, though expressing his frustration, felt powerless. However, after Su Ruoshan’s persuasion, he eventually regained his resolve, deciding to gather soldiers and launch an attack.

Su Ruoshan believed it was the perfect time, as Yun Mu’s foundation was still weak, and if they sought reinforcements, they would likely be intercepted. Yun Shang promised Su Ruoshan that he could do it, and Su Ruoshan threw herself into Yun Mu’s arms, trusting that he would succeed. Su Ruoshan secretly arranged for people to disguise themselves as musicians from private music halls and infiltrate Fantasy Music Hall to participate in the upcoming celebration.

In reality, they were all Yun Mu’s men, and the boxes containing instruments were actually filled with explosives and weapons. Su Ruofei noticed some unfamiliar faces and questioned Su Ruoshan. Su Ruoshan lied, claiming they were from the private music halls but arrogantly challenged Su Ruofei to check for herself if she didn’t believe her.

Su Ruofei did not check and instead urged Su Ruoshan not to let their parents find out about the tension between them, hoping they could still feel proud of their eldest daughter as before. However, to Su Ruoshan, these words sounded insincere. Su Ruofei talked to Yun Mu about her feelings toward Su Ruoshan. Although Su Ruoshan had harmed her many times, she still couldn’t help but see her as her sister, believing that the love from before was genuine.

The two reminisced about their encounter in the woods, where, after seeing the green light, Yun Mu became deaf. But it was also because of the green light that they escaped the assassination attempt and Yun Mu could still hear Su Ruofei’s music. Perhaps it was fate, and they embraced and kissed, grateful for each other. That night, Su Ruoshan arranged for explosives to be planted under the music stage.

The next day, at Fantasy Music Hall, the lord and lady arrived and announced the abolition of old customs, declaring that from now on, anyone with talent, regardless of their background or appearance, could be admitted. Just as Su Ruofei was about to go on stage to perform, the lord and lady were surrounded by Yun Shang’s men.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Su Ruoshan dressed herself as the Grand Music Master, preparing to replace Su Ruofei. Meanwhile, Yun Shang had already stated that he had deployed ten thousand troops outside the city, demanding the removal of Yun Mu from his position as the Right Hand. Yun Mu swiftly appeared behind Yun Shang, reminding him that it wasn't too late to stop. However, Yun Shang showed no intention of doing so.

At Yun Mu's command, archers released a volley of arrows, killing Yun Shang's men. Xiao Qi also stood guard with his sword in front of the lord and lady. Just as Yun Shang was about to signal his troops outside the city, Yun Mu informed him that they had already been controlled. It turned out that Jin Shangyu had noticed an unusual number of strangers at Fantasy Music Hall.

He threw a steamed bun at them and realized, from their swift reactions, that they weren’t from the Hall. To avoid alerting the enemy, he quietly informed Yun Mu, who then laid a trap to surround them. Yun Mu and Yun Shang started fighting. Seeing that things were going wrong, Su Ruoshan was in disbelief. Jin Shangyu stepped in to assist Yun Mu.

Yun Shang threw something at Yun Mu, and Xiao Qi prepared to shoot an arrow to kill Yun Shang. However, the lord pushed Yun Shang aside, saving both Yun Mu and Yun Shang, and ordered Yun Shang to be taken away for questioning. Su Ruoshan attempted to ignite the explosives, but Su Ruofei informed her that the explosives had already been cleared.

Su Ruoshan, on the brink of madness, declared herself the Grand Music Master, demanding that everyone bow to her. Her behavior was erratic, and Su Ruofei’s eyes filled with tears. The lord lamented that he had treated Yun Shang no differently than his own son, yet Yun Shang had treated him this way.

Yun Shang, however, felt that the lord had disregarded his feelings for Su Ruoshan when he arranged for her to marry Yun Mu in order to secure Yun Mu’s position as the Right Hand. He also recalled a previous promise that the position would be passed to him and that he would be nurtured for it, but once Yun Mu was born, Yun Shang was exiled to Yunyao.

Now, the lord was still planning to pass the position to his son, even though his son was deaf. Hearing this, Yun Mu revealed the truth he had been hiding for years. His deafness was caused by an assassination attempt twelve years ago, and there had been several more attempts since. The lord was shocked that his son had suffered so much.

Yun Shang claimed he had never intended to kill Yun Mu until the arranged marriage with Su Ruoshan, as he didn’t want her to marry Yun Mu. The lord ultimately spared Yun Shang’s life but demoted him to a commoner. Yun Shang pleaded to take Su Ruoshan with him, but Yun Mu informed him that Su Ruoshan had already gone mad. After Yun Shang was taken away, Yun Mu knelt and confessed his guilt for having deceived his father.

However, his father didn’t blame him, stating that Yun Mu’s courage and wisdom in foiling Yun Shang’s plot showed that he would make an excellent lord. Huang Ying pressed Jin Shangyu about how they would resolve their relationship, but Jin Shangyu still hadn’t decided, which infuriated Huang Ying. She turned to leave, but as she walked down the street, she couldn’t help but glance back, only to find that Jin Shangyu hadn’t followed.

Just then, Jin Shangyu’s voice called out from behind. He looked at Huang Ying with deep affection and tenderness, telling her he had come to give her his answer. Together, they left gracefully. Hou'er and Shiyi also planned to leave, as Su Ruofei, now the Grand Music Master, would not return to the Greenlight Music Hall. Su Ruofei promised she would never give up on them.

She then announced that she would delay the marriage proposal and planned to take the Greenlight Music Hall on a tour. Yun Mu was concerned that the journey would take too long, especially since he couldn’t bear the idea of Jin Shangyu spending too much time with Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei explained that Jin Shangyu and Huang Ying had already left, which reassured Yun Mu.

Reluctantly, he agreed but made her promise to write to him no matter where she went. Su Ruofei expressed concern about Su Ruoshan’s whereabouts, as no one had found her yet. At this time, Su Ruoshan, disheveled and dirty, wandered the streets, telling children to call her the Grand Music Master. She sat on the ground, pretending to play a konghou as if it were right in front of her. The children mocked her, calling her crazy.

Yun Shang, however, complimented her playing and introduced himself as Su Ruoshan’s husband. Su Ruoshan, delighted, grabbed Yun Shang’s hand, wanting to go home. This scene was witnessed by Xiao Qi, who now had news of Su Ruoshan. Six months later, Xiao Qi brought a letter from Su Ruofei. Yun Mu, eager to see Su Ruoshan, bid farewell to the lord and set out with Xiao Qi for Yunyao to find Su Ruofei.

Along the way, they heard nothing but praise for Su Ruofei. Her Greenlight Music Hall had just arrived in Yunyao, so they were fortunate enough to see it. Outside the Hall, crowds of people gathered. Jin Shangyu and Huang Ying were also there for their final performance. Dressed in a red robe, Su Ruofei leapt onto the rooftop, with a waist drum tied around her waist, just as when they first met.

Yun Mu quickly flew up to embrace Su Ruofei. He had missed her dearly during the past six months and vowed never to let her leave again. Su Ruofei, however, told him that today she wanted to propose, hoping to become Yun Mu’s wife. Yun Mu, smiling broadly, responded to the proposal with a kiss, sealing their engagement.
