Echo of Her Voice Episode 2 Recap
> Echo of Her Voice Recap
Su Ruofei's band's music flowed effortlessly, exuding freedom and ease, but Yun Mu dismissed it as noise. He felt that listening to it for even a minute longer was a waste of time, and its closure was already decided. Su Ruofei blocked Yun Mu, cursing him for being deaf; otherwise, how could he possibly find their music unpleasant?
At that moment, a trap net suddenly fell, but Yun Mu’s subordinate slashed it apart with one stroke, accusing Su Ruofei of setting the trap to target Yun Mu. Su Ruofei didn’t explain herself, instead leaping onto the roof, provoking Yun Mu to chase her. Yun Mu pursued Su Ruofei, and the two of them dashed through the air with ease. Yun Mu effortlessly caught Su Ruofei, whistled to summon his horse, and the two rode back together.
As soon as they arrived at the city lord's mansion, Su Ruofei started vomiting uncontrollably. Yun Mu, amused, couldn't help but laugh—he hadn’t expected horse riding to make her this nauseous. Yun Mu once again proposed that Su Ruofei become his lifelong personal musician, or he would have her executed for attempting to assassinate him. Seeing that she was about to be taken away, Su Ruofei reluctantly agreed to be his musician for five years.
However, Yun Mu was unsatisfied, ordering his men to take Su Ruofei away and imprison her. A bodyguard named Xiao Qi, who had been assigned by Lord Huang to Yun Mu’s side since childhood, looked on. Ever since Yun Mu had been attacked and entered the Phantom Music Forest, he came out holding something green, but his ears could no longer hear any sounds.
When Yun Shang finally found Yun Mu, Yun Mu was still in shock, looking towards Lord Huang. Yun Shang, heartbroken, embraced Yun Mu tightly. After returning, Yun Mu held a dagger to Xiao Qi’s throat, forcing him to reveal why he had come. Xiao Qi insisted he was only there to protect Yun Mu.
Yun Mu confided in Xiao Qi that he had gone deaf and ordered him to teach him lip-reading from that day forward, making him swear to keep it a secret. Over the years, Yun Mu had relied solely on lip-reading to communicate with others. Xiao Qi noticed Yun Mu spacing out and deliberately waved his hand in front of Yun Mu's face to snap him out of it. Xiao Qi then asked why Yun Mu had imprisoned Su Ruofei.
Yun Mu smiled faintly, saying that to make a little kitten submit, you must scare it first. He decided to keep her locked up for a couple of days and planned to visit Su Ruofei's house the next day. The next day, Yun Mu arrived uninvited at Su Ruofei's father’s house to discuss Su Ruofei’s assassination attempt, frightening Su’s father, who immediately knelt down to beg for mercy.
Yun Mu seized the opportunity to propose making Su Ruofei his personal musician, and Su’s father readily agreed. Su’s father complained that Su Ruofei had always been disobedient, even turning down the Qingyin position she had earned, and that she had also visited the Phantom Music Forest before. Yun Mu was curious, feeling that there was nothing particularly special about Su Ruofei, yet he alone could hear the sound of her instrument.
Yun Mu, narcissistic and arrogant, believed that the reason Su Ruofei refused to follow him was because he was too exceptional, fearing that his brilliance might overwhelm her. He even understood why Xiao Qi, who had been with him for years, must have felt a great deal of pressure. Xiao Qi marveled at his young master’s inexplicable confidence. Su Ruofei was brought before Yun Mu, tightly bound.
Yun Mu threatened her with death, and Su Ruofei pleaded for mercy, hastily agreeing to become his musician. However, she asked to return home once to say goodbye. Yun Mu agreed on the spot, confident that Su Ruofei would return. Yun Mu watched Su Ruoshan play the zither. Though he couldn’t hear, her posture convinced him that her music must be beautiful.
By chance, Yun Mu noticed a green jade plant next to Su Ruoshan, believing she was the girl he had encountered in the forest long ago. He immediately announced that Su Ruoshan, along with her band, would be invited to compete. Su Ruoshan recalled the jade plant from when she was in Lüguang Forest, where she had seen two of them and shared one with a boy, hoping they would meet again through it.
Just as she was lost in thought, Yun Mu knocked on the door. He had even crafted a jade brooch, intending to give it to Su Ruoshan. Su Ruoshan joyfully accepted the brooch and took the opportunity to plead for her sister, and Yun Mu promised not to make things difficult for Su Ruofei, out of respect for Su Ruoshan. When Su Ruofei did not return at the agreed time, Yun Mu concluded that she was too insecure to come back.
Xiao Qi, however, believed it wasn’t insecurity. Yun Mu issued a wanted notice, convinced that once Su Ruofei saw it, she would return on her own. Su Ruofei soon saw her own wanted notice, and when she noticed pursuers searching for her, she hurriedly hid in a tavern and shared a table with a young man.
The young man immediately recognized Su Ruofei as the person from the wanted poster, but instead of exposing her, he hid the poster and helped her evade the pursuing soldiers. Su Ruofei generously offered to treat him to a meal. While they were eating, a beautiful young woman walked in, startling the young man so much that he ducked down. Su Ruofei, seeing his reaction, smiled knowingly.
