Echo of Her Voice Episode 7 Recap
> Echo of Her Voice Recap
Su Ruoshan sent some of Yun Yao's compositions to Lady Yaoshan, knowing these were songs Lady Yaoshan often listened to back in Yaoshan. Su Ruoshan claimed she had organized them after hearing Yun Mu mention them, which deeply moved Lady Yaoshan, increasing her affection for Su Ruoshan. Yun Shang had people secretly investigate Yun Mu and found that he either spent his time indulging in pleasure or flirting with the female musicians.
Relieved, Yun Shang thought Yun Mu was just a frivolous playboy. However, Lord Huang believed Yun Mu was doing this deliberately, recalling how heroically he acted during the assassination attempt in the woods. Yun Shang also found this suspicious and decided to keep a closer watch. Su Ruofei made a hammock and hung herself in a tree, hoping to avoid Yun Mu and slack off. When Yun Mu came looking for her, he noticed but chose not to expose her.
Su Ruofei suddenly realized the rope was about to break, and she had no choice but to call Yun Mu to help her down. However, Yun Mu, who had an ear problem, didn’t hear her, leading to the rope breaking. Su Ruofei almost fell, but Yun Mu caught her just in time. Their lips accidentally brushed against each other, making Su Ruofei furious as she suspected Yun Mu had pretended not to hear on purpose.
After Yun Mu left, Jin Shangyu came to invite Su Ruofei to go out. Su Ruofei agreed but waited until Yun Mu was asleep before sneaking out. She thought Jin Shangyu had already left, but to her surprise, Jin Shangyu had prepared a shadow puppet show that reenacted their childhood encounter. This made Su Ruofei realize that Jin Shangyu was the chubby boy from her childhood. She couldn’t believe how much he had changed.
The once-chubby boy’s face used to be twice the size of his current one, and she never imagined that the musical genius she admired was once her childhood follower. Jin Shangyu only hoped not to embarrass Su Ruofei. Su Ruofei couldn’t resist reaching out to pat his head, but now he was too tall. Jin Shangyu knelt on one knee so that Su Ruofei could touch his head. As they happily chatted, Yun Mu and Xiao Qi arrived.
Despite Jin Shangyu being his honored guest, Yun Mu didn’t hesitate to scold him, forbidding him from meeting his female musician in private. He then took Su Ruofei away. Just as Jin Shangyu frowned, Huang Ying suddenly appeared behind him. She had been following Jin Shangyu and witnessed the entire scene, learning that Jin Shangyu and Su Ruofei were childhood friends. Back at the residence, Yun Mu also scolded Su Ruofei, teaching her the rules.
He had Xiao Qi read aloud the terms of her commitment letter, which included not meeting Jin Shangyu at night. Su Ruofei argued that she hadn’t known Jin Shangyu was her childhood friend before, so the commitment letter didn’t count. But Yun Mu insisted it still applied, stating that even childhood friends couldn’t ignore the differences between men and women. Yun Mu claimed he wanted to watch a puppet show and asked her to perform one for him.
Left with no choice, Su Ruofei agreed. During the puppet show, Su Ruofei deliberately cursed Yun Mu, but since Yun Mu could only see the puppets and not hear her, he thought the performance was quite spirited. He believed the story was about a mountain ghost capturing a beautiful maiden and watched with great interest. This action made Su Ruofei realize that Yun Mu actually had hearing problems.
Without saying much to Jin Shangyu, who had come to see her, she rushed to Yun Mu and secretly followed him, planning to scare him. Instead, Yun Mu suddenly turned around and scared her. Su Ruofei initially thought she was overthinking, but then she noticed a mirror on the beam above. She suddenly realized that all the mirrors around the house weren’t because Yun Mu was vain but because of another reason.
To confirm her suspicion, Su Ruofei deliberately cursed Yun Mu while dancing with the female musicians. Yun Mu didn’t react to her words but immediately noticed when she missed a beat on her drum. This revealed to Su Ruofei that Yun Mu was deaf in both ears but could still hear the sound of her drum, deepening her confusion. At the same time, she began to feel some pity for him.
Yun Mu later staged an attack, having someone pretend to be an assassin to test whether Su Ruofei knew about his weakness. Though Su Ruofei cursed Yun Mu in many ways, she didn’t reveal his deafness. When Su Ruofei woke up, Yun Mu was standing beside her, realizing that Su Ruofei had discovered his secret. He bluntly warned her that knowing someone’s secret could lead to only one path—death. Su Ruofei promised to keep his secret.
Yun Mu, seeing the situation, laid his cards on the table. He asked Su Ruofei to be his ears, helping him in situations where he couldn’t hear what others were saying. He also showed her many musical scores, explaining that he needed to memorize all the pieces so that during performances, he could pretend to know what was being played, thus concealing his deafness. Su Ruofei suddenly felt sympathy for Yun Mu, realizing how impressive he was.
If she were in his shoes, she would have been lost and helpless. Su Ruofei promised she would be Yun Mu’s ears. Yun Mu, pleased that his plan had succeeded, gave her a secret codebook to memorize, stating that they would use handbells in combination to communicate, and only he would be able to understand the code. He hoped Su Ruofei would commit it to memory.
