Lin Bao'er brought in a detective to help her investigate the Ciyu Orphanage. This time, she wanted to investigate Mr. Zhu, as she suspected that he was involved in illegal activities using the orphanage, although Zhu Guanwen was unaware of this. Zhu Guanwen invited Lin Jiacheng for a meeting, disguising it as an expression of gratitude. In reality, both of them knew they had feelings for Lin Bao'er, but they hadn't revealed their emotions yet. Zhu Guanwen expressed his willingness to protect Lin Bao'er, and Lin Jiacheng asked him what he would choose if he had to pick between the Zhu family and Lin Bao'er. Zhu Guanwen made it clear that he would choose Lin Bao'er without hesitation.
Soon, Lin Bao'er arrived and declared that she intended to spend quality time with her brother. To Lin Bao'er's surprise, Lin Jiacheng ordered dishes that she liked. He even held Lin Bao'er's hand, which made Zhu Guanwen jealous. He purposely challenged Lin Jiacheng, suggesting that he intended to buy the restaurant and received a kick from Lin Bao'er.
During the meal, both Lin Jiacheng and Zhu Guanwen tried to serve Lin Bao'er. Lin Jiacheng mentioned that he was returning to Southeast Asia and entrusted Lin Bao'er to Zhu Guanwen. He made it clear that if Lin Bao'er suffered any harm under Zhu Guanwen's care, he would hold him accountable. While Zhu Guanwen was briefly away from the table, Lin Jiacheng asked Lin Bao'er if she had any leads. She couldn't be certain at the moment but said she was sure the items were still at the Zhu residence.
Dou Lili couldn't let go of her grudge and believed that Lin Bao'er was causing trouble. She asked her father how to refute these accusations, but he remained silent. Dou Lili was frustrated, but her father told her that they needed to plan carefully.
Mayor Dou provided a strategy to his daughter, and it seemed like they had a winning hand. After bidding farewell to her brother, Lin Bao'er noticed Zhu Guanwen's jealousy. She explained that Lin Jiacheng had provided her with strong support during her return and asked Zhu Guanwen what would happen if she ever hurt him. Zhu Guanwen jokingly said he would hate her forever, which worried Lin Bao'er. However, Zhu Guanwen quickly lightened the mood by asking for candy, relieving Lin Bao'er's concerns.
