As the gun was aimed at Lin Bao'er, he said that only if she died in front of Zhu Guanwen would he understand his efforts in vain. Zhu Guanwen stated that Mr. Zhu caused his mother's death and vowed not to spare Mr. Zhu, yet Mr. Zhu denied murdering Zhu Guanwen's mother. He claimed to have fallen in love with Zhu Guanwen's mother at first sight and wasn't bothered by her past marriages. Feeling threatened by Zhu Guanwen's mother, Mr. Zhu decided to kill her because she knew too much, leading to her decision to expose him.
Just as Mr. Zhu prepared to shoot Lin Bao'er, she skillfully untied herself and turned the gun against him. Mr. Zhu tried to call his men, only to find out that they were already dead. It turned out that Lin Bao'er and Zhu Guanwen had planned this in advance. Lin Bao'er didn't shoot Mr. Zhu but aimed for non-lethal shots, eventually ending his life with one decisive shot. She had finally avenged her parents. Zhu Guanwen embraced Lin Bao'er, marking the end of their struggle, and they could finally return to a peaceful life.
Lin Bao'er and Zhu Guanwen went to visit their respective parents in the mountains, seeking a final closure for them. Lin Bao'er introduced her fiancé to her parents, and Zhu Guanwen introduced his fiancée to his parents. Before leaving, Zhu Guanwen gave Lin Bao'er a lollipop. Lin Bao'er proposed the idea of an exceptional wedding, to which Zhu Guanwen joked if she was proposing to him. At night, they looked at the twinkling stars, Lin Bao'er wearing a white wedding dress, feeling as if her parents were watching her happily. She once thought the fire eighteen years ago had destroyed all her love until she met Zhu Guanwen. She realized she wasn't alone, and it was like going back in time, where they finally found happiness together.
When Xue Tong's father was the mayor, the people greatly admired him, but he was killed. Zhu Guanwen searched for Lin Bao'er after her departure, believing that she would appear in the town. He revealed he knew Mayor Dou was involved in illegal businesses but was shocked by the involvement in opium trade. He warned Lin Bao'er not to act recklessly, as it might implicate his father.
Zhu Guanwen went to the police and disclosed information to them. The police arrived at the docks to inspect the cargo, and Lin Bao'er deliberately obstructed them. Soon, a new inspector and Zhu Guanwen arrived, and Mayor Dou calmly allowed them to inspect the cargo. When Zhu Guanwen's men opened it, they discovered that the opium had been swapped with canned goods. Mayor Dou accused Lin Bao'er, but Zhu Guanwen protected her. Later, Zhu Guanwen left with Lin Bao'er. Back home, Zhu Guanwen apologized to Lin Bao'er for not being prepared, and she didn't blame him, acknowledging that Mayor Dou was too cunning and that they should not have acted impulsively. Zhu Guanwen never felt that what he did was unnecessary and regarded Lin Bao'er as everything to him. He assured her that they weren't fighting alone.
Lin Bao'er suspected someone had tipped off Mayor Dou. She witnessed Dou Lili talking to a reporter.
