One day earlier, while the Japanese soldiers were performing, Chen Jiaping and Wang Dapu cooperated to open the lock on the door. They even knocked out a Japanese soldier, put on their uniforms, and disguised themselves to reach the last door. Unexpectedly, there was another Japanese soldier there who recognized that Chen Jiaping and Wang Dapu were not part of their group. He was about to shout when Chen Jiaping quickly knocked him out. Wang Dapu took the opportunity to open the lock and leave, leaving Chen Jiaping behind. Not only that, he also blocked the keyhole. Chen Jiaping managed to retrieve what was blocking the keyhole, unlocked the door, and was about to leave when he came face to face with Naoshita Naoki. At this point, Chen Jiaping's life was in danger, and he quickly thought of a seamless excuse to deceive Naoshita. Naoshita Naoki chose to believe him and spared his life.

The next day, Zuo Shuangtao and Luo Guanqun arrived at the Military Police Headquarters detention center and learned from Naoshita that Chen Jiaping had died. Zuo Shuangtao couldn't believe it, but Naoshita claimed that Chen Jiaping had escaped with another fugitive and, when confronted, killed him. Luo Guanqun couldn't say that Naoshita had killed an innocent man and could only suggest that Chen Jiaping had met an unfortunate end. However, the truth was that Naoshita and Chen Jiaping had collaborated, and Naoshita had let him go to track Wang Dapu. To make the act convincing, Chen Jiaping had even voluntarily requested that Naoshita give him a wound. Soon, Chen Jiaping was released, and based on his knowledge of Wang Dapu, he discreetly made his way to the oil refinery and indeed found Wang Dapu. Wang Dapu didn't want to stay with him here and continued to cooperate with Chen Jiaping after showing vulnerability.

Left heartbroken, Zuo Shuangtao was overwhelmed, pretending to have something to report to Jiang Zhaoguo. She took a car to Jiang Zhaoguo's location and, when approaching him, suddenly pulled out a gun, instantly alerting Liu Wuchang. Zuo Shuangtao blamed Jiang Zhaoguo for Chen Jiaping's death, stating that if it weren't for Jiang Zhaoguo framing Chen Jiaping, he wouldn't have been arrested, let alone killed by Naoshita. Liu Wuchang took the opportunity to seize her gun and, on her behalf, apologized to Jiang Zhaoguo. Jiang Zhaoguo ordered Liu Wuchang to lock up Zuo Shuangtao. Chen Jiaping had a way to leave the place. He took Wang Dapu with him and secretly attached themselves to the bottom of a cart carrying corpses from Pushan Tang, leaving the area. They encountered a Japanese sentry who was stabbing the bodies with a bayonet to confirm that they were all dead, but Chen Jiaping had the foresight not to hide in the cart with Wang Dapu.

After escaping, Wang Dapu took Chen Jiaping to an inn. According to him, the box was still in its original location, but Chen Jiaping didn't anticipate that he would take out a gun. Wang Dapu had a photographic memory and was aware that when they were at Maoshan, Chen Jiaping had taught him. Chen Jiaping must be a Communist. Chen Jiaping intentionally engaged him in conversation to divert his attention, seize the gun from Wang Dapu, and then escape. Afterwards, Wang Dapu obtained the box containing the copper plates and contacted military intelligence. Liu Wuchang also learned from this that Wang Dapu had escaped with Chen Jiaping and that Chen Jiaping was not dead. Therefore, Liu Wuchang told Zuo Shuangtao about this and advised her to apologize to Jiang Zhaoguo for her impulsive behavior and let him forgive her.

Following Liu Wuchang's advice, Zuo Shuangtao apologized to Jiang Zhaoguo. While they were celebrating with drinks, she secretly stole the copper plates from the box. Wang Dapu quickly noticed and a group of people set out to arrest Zuo Shuangtao. Wang Dapu was the first to catch up with her and grabbed her by the neck. Chen Jiaping, who came out of nowhere, knocked Wang Dapu unconscious, and Zuo Shuangtao immediately stabbed Wang Dapu's heart. They each took a part of the copper plates and were later saved by Liu Wuchang and Zhou Qingfang, then met up in a certain place. Chen Jiaping's identity was no longer a secret, and Zuo Shuangtao and he reminisced about their past paths.
