The Japanese snipers hesitated to shoot at Chen Jiaping because they were unsure if Lu Fangfang was his superior. They began to have doubts about the intelligence but knew these doubts wouldn't last long. The two of them got close, appearing intimate, but were discreetly exchanging information in hushed voices. Lu Fangfang provided a clue: "Xin Di." Chen Jiaping wondered if it might be a place name, but Lu Fangfang had checked, and there was no place called "Xin Di" in Shanghai. After the intelligence exchange, the immediate concern was how to escape. Not far away was the Suzhou River, and jumping into it would allow them to evade the snipers' fire. Lu Fangfang didn't touch the box; she and Chen Jiaping acted together, preparing to leave. The Japanese snipers, of course, didn't allow them to leave and shot at Lu Fangfang.

Lu Fangfang got shot in the arm, and they were surrounded by many snipers, including one impersonating a mother with a child. After being shot, she ignited a bomb on the baby carriage. Chen Jiaping, in an attempt to protect Lu Fangfang, didn't hesitate to throw the bomb into the river. The bomb exploded in mid-air, and the tremendous impact threw him into the river. Later, Zuo Shuangtao arrived at the Bund Park, confirming that Lu Fangfang was Chen Jiaping's superior. In the box was likely the copper plate. Zuo Shuangtao had done something to Lu Fangfang, but what exactly was unknown. When Chen Jiaping woke up by the river and returned to the Bund Park, he only found Lu Fangfang's lifeless body with a knife stabbed into her abdomen, which was the signature style of Zuo Shuangtao. At that moment, Chen Jiaping suddenly realized that it was Zuo Shuangtao who killed her.

Chen Jiaping returned home, and at that time, Zuo Shuangtao was casually cutting fruits. They had a conversation, but when Chen Jiaping learned of Liu Wuchang's death, he seemed somewhat surprised. He had never harbored any intentions of killing Liu Wuchang. Chen Jiaping explained that someone must have framed them, attempting to sow discord between them. As for Lu Fangfang's death, Zuo Shuangtao was also surprised because she hadn't killed Lu Fangfang. She had even saved her from Tao Dachun's clutches. Zuo Shuangtao made it clear that their issues were personal, and the military intelligence couldn't get hold of the copper plate. She returned the substituted copper plate to Lu Fangfang. After that, Lu Fangfang got out of the car. Zuo Shuangtao candidly said that she would know nothing about what happens next.

After hearing each other out, they both seemed to trust each other, but that was just a brief moment of peace. Next, both of them almost simultaneously initiated a fight, which escalated into a gunfight inside the house. The gunfight extended from the house to the outside, all the way to the dock. It was here that Zuo Shuangtao produced a hand grenade, but unexpectedly, she chose to go down with Chen Jiaping to kill him. Monitored and followed by Qian Chengyi, the hand grenade exploded, and it appeared that both of them had perished. Afterward, Qian Chengyi reported to Shan Xia Wufu, saying that Mei Hua Si and Hong Tao Wu both died. Shan Xia Wufu was overjoyed and intended to make Qian Chengyi the manager of the business. Little did they know that this was all a play, orchestrated by Zuo Shuangtao and Chen Jiaping, to make it look like they had turned against each other and for the eyes watching them to see nothing but deception.

Before this, Zuo Shuangtao had gone to interrogate Hu Jun to confirm that this was all a scheme by Jiang Zhaoguo to sow discord between her and Chen Jiaping. Three days before the operation, the news of Shan Xia Wufu and Han Lu's upcoming wedding was reported. Jiang Zhaoguo secretly met with Han Lu at a cafe, trying to persuade her to leave Shanghai with him for Hong Kong. Han Lu didn't agree or refuse. Gao Fang was involved in the operation, cooperating with others to rescue the kidnapped workers and experts, while also aiming to destroy the equipment in the counterfeit money factory.

Through intercepted telegrams, they found out that "Xin Di" was not a place but a movie about to be released at the Ruhua Cinema, and the counterfeit money factory was located beneath the Ruhua Cinema. On the day of the wedding, Hata Shunroku was scheduled to attend the ceremony. Using the pretext of signing a movie contract, he initiated the second phase of the Sugihara Chiune Rescue Plan. However, they realized they needed the key to the iron gate of the counterfeit money factory to ensure the safety of the workers. On the day of the wedding, Er Ba Dao intentionally released Xiao Douzi to cause chaos during the wedding, allowing Han Lu to seize the opportunity and get the key to the iron gate hidden in Shan Xia Wufu's fan.
