Shen Jiangli’s stepmother, Concubine Zou, was swayed by Wang Danling’s mother-in-law's instigation and began plotting. Upon returning home, she immediately started whispering in Shen Jiangli’s father’s ear. What was meant to sow chaos in Lu Jingming’s household ended up backfiring. When the Lu family patriarch asked Lu Jingshu if it was true, he actually admitted it.
Though Wang Danling was vehemently opposed, the patriarch had already agreed to let the legitimate son take a concubine, believing it would help him produce heirs sooner. Shen Qilan, hearing that her wish was finally coming true, was so thrilled she couldn’t sleep all night. She secretly met with Wang Danling and pledged her loyalty, promising to know her place and serve Wang Danling with utmost respect. But Wang Danling, full of disdain, didn’t even bother to pretend. She directly warned Shen Qilan not to harbor foolish dreams and told her it would be best to stay far away in the future.
