Feng Tianlan attended Zhang Haibei's funeral. During the funeral, he told Zhang Haibei that Wang Putao had released a new book, and their favorite game had a new version. Zhang Haibei's parents were deeply saddened by their son's departure. His mother handed a USB drive to Feng Tianlan, which contained recordings of Feng Tianlan and Zhang Haibei singing together.

Afterwards, Feng Tianlan studied even harder and quickly improved his grades. He couldn't believe that he, a fool, could rank among the top students in the entire grade. He felt that he was able to achieve this because of the strength Zhang Haibei had given him. While studying, he would unconsciously think of the 20 promises he and Zhang Haibei had made. Once in college, Feng Tianlan pinned those 20 promises on his bookshelf and gradually fulfilled them one by one. When he drank with his roommates, he couldn't help but remember his promise with Haibei. After turning 18, they had planned to legally drink together and get drunk. In his mind, Feng Tianlan felt that Haibei was always with him, accompanying him to fulfill those wishes.

After graduating from college, Feng Tianlan rode his bike to the seaside. He happily shouted Zhang Haibei's name to the ocean, complaining that Haibei shouldn't have left him alone. He always thought that he was living a life meant for two people because of that list. He had fulfilled many of their dreams, made many friends, and won numerous awards all because of that list. It had made his life different. After graduating, his parents hoped he would become a teacher, but Feng Tianlan had his own unique perspective. He initially worked as a waiter in a bar before joining Sanguan Culture as an intern editor. Although he didn't interact with Wang Putao much, he noticed her uniqueness and the pain in her heart. He told Wang Putao Zhang Haibei's story to convey that life is full of challenges.

When he saw her fainting in the water, he felt genuine fear because of Haibei's previous example. He didn't want to face another separation in life, so he hoped Wang Putao wouldn't give up hope. Even if it was just a little bit, he wanted her to hold on to the belief of living. There are many retreats in life, and there's no need to shoulder everything alone. After listening to Feng Tianlan's recording, Wang Putao angrily said that nobody said she wanted to take her own life. If she found Feng Tianlan, he would be in trouble. Feng Tianlan sat by the sea, pouring out his heart to Zhang Haibei when suddenly he received a call from Wang Putao. Because he didn't want to endure that pain again and didn't want to be entangled with Wang Putao, he hung up the phone. However, before he could leave the beach, Wang Putao found him and expressed her gratitude. Somehow, Feng Tianlan ended up going back to the hotel with her.

Feng Tianlan had a video call with the chief editor who informed him that he had been Wang Putao's longest-serving editor so far. Other members of the editing department had only lasted three or five days with Wang Putao. Upon hearing their complaints, Feng Tianlan couldn't help but speak up for Wang Putao, saying that she was actually very considerate. This remark from Feng Tianlan left the entire editing department in shock, as if they had turned to stone. Looking at his phone, Feng Tianlan thought there might be a network issue.
