> Perfect Match Recap
While Fan Lianghan was reprimanding Yan Zimei, he was unexpectedly caught by Mrs. Cui, who quickly devised a plan. She pretended to be ill and sent her daughter Rong Mei to ask Madam Li for help. Madam Li, being kind-hearted, went along with Rong Mei to her house. However, when they arrived, they found a corpse lying in bed. Mrs.
Cui claimed that the deceased was Yan Zimei, who had been beaten to death by Fan Lianghan, and threatened Madam Li for a large sum of money. Madam Li, recalling that she had instructed Fan Lianghan to discipline Yan Zimei, believed Mrs. Cui's words to be true. Fearing that her second daughter, Fu Hui, would not be able to bear the news, she decided to pay off the money to resolve the matter. However, Mrs.
Cui's greed knew no bounds, and she kept demanding more, draining Madam Li's finances. Madam Li was forced to pawn her valuables, which caught the attention of her daughters. Soon, the Li sisters gathered again and, after redeeming the items, questioned their mother. Madam Li, left with no choice, confessed the truth. Originally, Fan Lianghan had followed Madam Li’s advice and fled with Fu Hui that very night.
However, upon hearing the news, Chai An brought a group of people to track Fan Lianghan down and forcibly brought him back. The three sons-in-law and all the daughters gathered, with only Du Yangxi being the last to understand the full situation. Chai An considered reporting the incident to the authorities, but Madam Li vehemently opposed it, fearing that once it went to the court, they would be forced to confess under duress, leaving no room for negotiation.
Kang Ning and Shou Hua also couldn’t bear to see Fu Hui lose her husband so early, with the child inside her being fatherless, so they suggested that their husbands first try to settle things peacefully. Taking advantage of the situation, Madam Li cried and pleaded, urging her sons-in-law to find a solution. Du Yangxi, seeing no other option, suggested that Madam Li calm Mrs. Cui by agreeing to give her 1,000 guan.
After returning home, Du Yangxi couldn’t help but complain that Shou Hua had not informed him earlier, feeling that she didn’t treat him as her husband, and once again resorting to petty jealousy. Shou Hua, amused and helpless, could only laugh at his childish behavior. One night, Mrs. Cui received the money and planned to escape with her daughter Rong Mei, but she was caught red-handed by Chai An.
It turned out that Du Yangxi and Chai An had intentionally set a trap, using a theft case to check for stolen goods. Madam Li and her family were worried about being exposed and were on edge throughout the ordeal. Unexpectedly, the officers found a corpse in the well. Enraged and embarrassed, Mrs. Cui publicly accused the Li family of murder, offering to cover it up with gold and silver. The situation turned chaotic.
What had started as a theft case quickly became a murder investigation, drawing significant attention from the authorities. Chai An doubted the identity of the body, and the coroner confirmed that the deceased had been a cripple, making the crowd realize that Cui Jia’s adopted son, Cui Wu, was indeed the limping gambler. The truth was soon revealed: Cui Wu had attempted to assault Rong Mei but failed, and in her desperation to protect her daughter, Mrs.
Cui had killed him. To cover up the murder, she had framed Fan Lianghan by pretending the dead man was Yan Zimei, hoping to both conceal the crime and extort money from Madam Li. With no more excuses to make, Mrs. Cui was arrested, and Rong Mei, in tears, begged to go to jail with her mother. The Li family, witnessing the tragic fate of Mrs. Cui and her daughter, felt sorrowful but powerless to help.
After the storm subsided, Kang Ning and the others discussed the events and were infuriated by the fact that after Yan Zimei had been punished, Mrs. Cui had helped him escape. Before leaving the capital, he had even left behind a blood-stained brocade robe. While it was unclear whether he had secretly instructed Mrs. Cui to deceive the Li family, the Cui family was now imprisoned, leaving him the only one still free of suspicion.
Shou Hua comforted Kang Ning and Fu Hui, telling them not to be upset. Their husbands were both good men, but the two of them believed that their brother-in-law loved their sister deeply and was overly sensitive and jealous. The Emperor hosted a banquet at Jinming Pool and ordered the officials to compose poems. Du Yangxi, praised for his poetic talent, was awarded a flower hairpin by the Emperor.
However, in a moment of clumsiness, he dropped the lotus flower from the pin. Just then, the noblewoman Yu Xiulian, who had already taken a liking to him, kindly gave him her own flower pin. Du Yangxi, forced to accept, reluctantly accepted the gift and made small talk to brush off the awkward moment. When Du Yangxi and Sang Yan returned home, they found that Shou Hua was building a vegetable garden for Du’s mother.
Touched by her gesture, Du Yangxi decided to give her the flower pin as a token of appreciation. Shou Hua, in turn, changed the name of the maid Chou’er to Runyue. Runyue later discovered that the flower pin was actually gold-inlaid, and Shou Hua guessed it must have been a gift from a noblewoman. The sisters encouraged her to stay calm, assuring her that Du Yangxi was not a heartless person. Inspired by the flower pin, Shou Hua began creating scented flower decorations and sold them at a perfume shop, receiving rave reviews.
