Yang Xian, accompanied by Wu Niang, returned to the Li family with lavish gifts to pay their respects. Yang Jieyu promised Le Shan that if she could reform Yang Xian, she would petition the emperor for their separation in a year. Le Shan agreed eagerly, secretly making up her mind to help Yang Xian return to the right path.

After Yang Jieyu left, Yang Zhu Niang feared that Le Shan would misuse the golden staff to gain power and ordered her maid, Yin Ping, to secretly steal it. Yin Ping, who had feelings for Yang Xian but failed to win his favor, was caught by Le Shan. Le Shan used this opportunity to enforce discipline in the household and punished Yin Ping severely. Madam Li, along with Qiong Nu, brought oil, honey, and steamed cakes to the Yang family. Yang Xian was overjoyed and felt deeply grateful for Madam Li’s thoughtful care.
