Qiong Nu personally went to the Yang family to visit Le Shan, but unexpectedly, Yin Ping quietly sneaked into Le Shan’s room, rummaging through the clothes, attempting to find the golden staff. Le Shan noticed her and immediately questioned Yin Ping. Yin Ping claimed she was only cleaning the room, and although Le Shan had suspicions, she remembered Madam Li’s previous instructions and decided to let Yin Ping go for the time being.

As for the golden staff, Le Shan had already hidden it under the bed, preventing Yin Ping from taking it. Yang Zhu Niang anxiously waited for Yin Ping’s report, but her husband, Jiang Chaozong, suddenly appeared and shared a plan to deal with Le Shan. That night, Yin Ping threw herself into the well, and the Yang family was thrown into chaos.

The family quickly called for Le Shan, but by that time, Le Shan had already closed the door to rest and ignored the commotion outside. Yang Xian, seeing this, secretly admired Le Shan’s calmness. Le Shan decided to set aside the matter for now and come up with a new strategy to prevent others from taking advantage of the situation. The next morning, Le Shan hurriedly left to return to the Li family, but was scolded by Yang Zhu Niang.

Le Shan was carrying the golden staff, and although Yang Zhu Niang spoke harshly, she no longer dared to stop her. Jiang Chaozong comforted Yang Zhu Niang, saying that even if Le Shan escaped, the people from Si Fu Zhai were still in Bianjing, so there was no need to worry too much. Le Shan returned to the Li family and informed Madam Li and the others about the incident.

She also summoned her fourth sister Hao De to inquire about the laws regarding the death of a servant and how the case would be judged if Shen Huizhao were to handle it. Meanwhile, Yang Dema praised the academic achievements of his illegitimate son, Yang Yi, saying that his success brought honor to the family. Concubine Chen Xiaogu was overjoyed upon hearing this. However, Yin Ping’s parents suddenly burst into the Yang family, causing a commotion.

They claimed that when Yin Ping threw herself into the well, she was already pregnant. Yang Dema was furious and immediately summoned Yang Xian. The whole family began to accuse Yang Xian, claiming that the unborn child in Yin Ping’s womb was his flesh and blood. Yang Xian vehemently denied the accusation, insisting that he was innocent and refused to accept the blame. Despite his denials, Yang Xian was harshly criticized by his father, mother, and both older sisters and half-brother.

Everyone pressured him to admit guilt. Yang Dema, enraged by Yang Xian’s rebuttal, whipped him across the face, leaving a bloody mark, and threatened to punish him severely. Fortunately, Le Shan returned just in time to support Yang Xian’s innocence. Madam Li also stepped forward to defend her son-in-law, declaring that as the Li family’s son-in-law, Yang Xian was like her own child, and she would not allow anyone to slander him.

Yang Xian felt an unprecedented sense of support and trust from Le Shan and Madam Li, warming his heart. He, too, refused to back down, repeatedly emphasizing that as the legitimate son of the Yang family, his grandfather had said that all of the family’s ancestral properties, shops, and land belonged to him, and no outsider could covet them.

Le Shan decided to take the matter to court, instructing her people to take Yin Ping’s parents away and then holding Yang Xian’s hand as they returned to their room. Under Madam Li’s guidance, Le Shan personally applied medicine to Yang Xian’s wounds, and his affection for her deepened. Seeing their growing bond, Madam Li excused herself, leaving the couple alone. Le Shan, however, was not content with this and sent someone to secretly follow Yin Ping’s mother, Jiang Shi.

They discovered that she had been secretly meeting with Jiang Chaozong’s servant. Yang Zhu Niang had already suspected the affair between Jiang Chaozong and Yin Ping and believed that Jiang Chaozong had orchestrated Yin Ping’s death to frame Yang Xian. The crafty Jiang Chaozong denied everything, but as an outsider, he had long coveted the Yang family’s wealth, and Yang Xian had become a thorn in his side.

Yin Ping’s death was the perfect opportunity for him to frame Yang Xian. Soon, rumors spread among the people, claiming that Yin Ping had been forced to death by Le Shan because she was pregnant. Le Shan not only bore the reputation of a jealous woman but also found herself facing a manslaughter charge, which enraged her. Yang Zhu Niang took advantage of the situation and invited monks to hold a memorial for Yin Ping, lasting for a hundred days.

Le Shan suspected that Yang Zhu Niang had malicious intentions and instructed her maid, Yu Zan, to act secretly. That night, after applying medicine to Yang Xian’s wounds, Le Shan went to the garden to enjoy the cool evening and admire the moon. Yang Xian, worried for her safety, couldn’t sleep and decided to go outside to check on her.

To his surprise, a witch named Qiu Pozi appeared in the garden, claiming that Le Shan had been possessed by evil spirits. Yang Zhu Niang seized the opportunity and ordered Le Shan to be captured. Le Shan, taking advantage of the situation, ordered her servants to beat the captors and, with Yang Xian’s protection, severely punished Yang Zhu Niang and Jiang Chaozong, finally venting her anger.
