Perfect Match Episode 33 Recap
> Perfect Match Recap
The lion dance contest suddenly became chaotic, naturally attracting the Emperor’s attention, who summoned Yang Xian and Le Shan for questioning. Le Shan, unafraid of the Emperor’s authority, boldly claimed that there had been malicious intent to win at any cost, resulting in fighting, and she answered the Emperor’s questions truthfully.
Initially, Yang Jieyu had been deeply worried, but when the Emperor heard Le Shan’s daring words, he laughed heartily and praised her courage, promising to severely punish those responsible for causing the disturbance. After returning to the Yang family, Le Shan personally examined the wound on Yang Xian’s waist, feeling both anger and concern for him. Zhao Liangcheng hurriedly arrived and explained the situation about the lion dance contest.
It turned out that the Bai Fan Tower had set up a gambling match, with many high-ranking officials placing heavy bets, which led to the incident. As for the person who had used a sharp weapon from above to injure someone, they had indeed been paid to do so, and their aim was to kill Yang Xian. The contact person had long since disappeared, and the mastermind’s identity remained unknown.
After Yang Xian passed the first test, Le Shan immediately presented the second one. She ordered Yu Zan to bring the sweat towel she had found in the garden and tasked Yang Xian with finding the owner of the towel and uncovering the story behind it within three days.
Yang Xian, seeing the stitching on the towel as familiar, quickly summoned all the female servants and maids in the household, falsely claiming that Le Shan wanted to make clothes for everyone and needed them to stitch auspicious and exorcising patterns on the fabric. Soon, Yang Xian gathered all the embroidered towels from the female servants, but none of them matched the stitching pattern on the sweat towel.
Le Shan suspected that the person who had lost the towel might be one of the Yang family’s masters. Madam Li’s sisters had varying opinions on this matter and jokingly remarked that Yang Xian had married such a ruthless and difficult wife. Yang Xian continued his investigation and traced the towel back to his stepmother, Chen Xiaogu. He pretended to ask Chen Xiaogu to help him stitch the clothes for everyone.
Yang Yi, acting out of character, scolded Yang Xian for treating his mother like a servant. Yang Xian presented the sweat towel to Chen Xiaogu, who, in an attempt to avoid blame, directly shifted the responsibility onto Yang Yi. She claimed that Yang Yi was having an affair with one of the female servants. Yang Yi had no choice but to swallow his anger and accept this false accusation.
Despite this, Yang Xian remained troubled, insisting that Yang Yi was not such a person. Meanwhile, Jiang Chaozong, realizing that Chen Xiaogu had been exposed, blackmailed Yang Wan Niang to secretly assist him. Yang Wan Niang was forced to meet with Le Shan and begged her to spare Yang Yi, retracting her earlier words, and suggested that Le Shan meet Yang Yi at the ancestral hall.
That night, Le Shan indeed fell into the trap, going to the ancestral hall to question Yang Yi. However, before she could say much, she was knocked unconscious by a sleeping incense. The men who had been lying in wait outside took the opportunity to start a fire, causing the Yang family’s ancestral hall to burn. Yang Xian heard that Le Shan was in the fire and rushed in without hesitation to save her.
Le Shan emerged safely, and Yang Xian, both shocked and overjoyed, rushed forward to embrace her tightly. Meanwhile, Chen Xiaogu, Jiang Chaozong’s aunt, had been instigated by him to plot for the family’s wealth. Her son, Yang Yi, had been born from an affair outside the marriage, a secret known only to Jiang Chaozong. Now, Jiang Chaozong wanted to use Yang Yi’s death to eliminate Yang Xian.
Although Chen Xiaogu felt guilty, her desire for profit clouded her judgment, and she allowed Jiang Chaozong to do as he pleased. Le Shan, however, had already noticed something was wrong. She turned the situation to her advantage once again, pretending to faint and waiting for others to arrive, thus escaping the fire. Yang Xian and Le Shan played their roles perfectly, working together to expose the arsonist, Liu Gui, and reveal Jiang Chaozong’s plot.
As expected, Jiang Chaozong’s conspiracy was uncovered, and Yang Dema ordered his arrest. Luo Shi, realizing that someone with such malicious intent was within the family, ordered Yang Shusheng to search Jiang Chaozong’s room for any hidden wealth. Yang Shusheng, however, refused to hand over a box he was protecting until Yang Wan Niang stepped forward and insisted that he give the box to Yang Xian.
It was then that Yang Xian discovered that his older sister had secretly given birth to a son outside the family, though the child had died young. Jiang Chaozong had held this secret over her, and she had been under his control ever since. Yang Xian returned the box to Yang Wan Niang, agreeing to keep the secret for her as his sister.
Unexpectedly, news came from the palace that the Empress was jealous and had clashed with others, leading to Yang Jieyu being implicated and punished by being sent to the Daoist temple for spiritual cleansing. The Yang family was thrown into chaos, their wealth confiscated, and the family was left on the streets.
Fortunately, at this moment, Madam Li arrived in her carriage and, out of consideration for their familial ties, invited the Yang family to move into the small courtyard next door.
