Perfect Match Episode 35 Recap
> Perfect Match Recap
For three years, Yang Xian had frequently sent people to inquire about Jiang Chaozong’s whereabouts. Eventually, he learned that Jiang had joined the treacherous Prime Minister Cui Weizhi, and he began planning to lure him out for revenge. Meanwhile, Le Shan, who had been absent from the matchmaking event, infuriated Madam Li, who scolded her fiercely.
Le Shan, feeling remorseful, apologized to her mother and learned that the embroidery ball had fallen into the hands of a passing young man and General Zhe Conghuai. Du Yangxi investigated Zhe Conghuai’s identity and revealed the Zhe family’s background to everyone. Madam Li warned Le Shan that the best course of action now was to marry into the Zhe family as soon as possible.
Elsewhere, Zhe Conghuai was chatting with his adoptive mother, Madam Liu, and his younger brother Zhe Min. The guards reported to him the latest news from the Li family. When Zhe Conghuai heard this, his expression changed dramatically, and he rushed out the door. Zhe Min, confused, looked at his mother, whose face also darkened, suspecting that Zhe Conghuai must have some connection with the Li family. Zhe Conghuai personally went to the Li family to visit.
Coincidentally, Le Shan and Chun Lai were on their way to the Zhe family but were kidnapped halfway by the Yang family. Yin Yao, disguised as a man, treated Le Shan warmly and prepared an array of expensive jewelry and ornaments, intending to marry her. She led Le Shan into the garden, where Yang Xian, along with his servants, was planting flowers. His intention was to repair the Yang residence and then personally bring Le Shan back home.
However, when Le Shan saw Yang Xian, whom she hadn’t seen in three years, her emotions were stirred. She was also angry that he had been in Bianjing but had not come to see her. Yin Yao asked Le Shan if she recognized Yang Xian, but Le Shan, looking at him, acted as though she had never met him.
Zhe Conghuai, who had earlier witnessed Le Shan being kidnapped, followed her all the way to the Yang family to rescue her. Le Shan borrowed a sword capable of cutting through gold and jade and used it to sever the golden staff that was being carried with her, severing all ties with Yang Xian. Zhe Conghuai followed Le Shan into the sedan chair, almost getting kicked out by her, which left him both speechless and amused.
He had no choice but to reveal his identity. Le Shan, upon recognizing him, felt a whirlwind of emotions and immediately took him back to the Li family. It was only then that the Li family learned that Zhe Conghuai was actually the only son of the family who had been swept away by the river years ago. Zhe Conghuai kneeled before Madam Li’s bed, volunteering to tell her the story of his experiences over the past ten years.
He explained that he had been swept away by the river and had been saved by Madam Zhe, who took him back to the Zhe family, where he had lost his memory. According to Zhe Conghuai, the Zhe family rose to prominence in the late Tang Dynasty and had been stationed in the northwest for generations. The men in the family had all died defending the borders, with no one surviving past their forties.
The Zhe family’s loyalty and sacrifice earned them the highest honor from Emperor Taizu, and they were granted the hereditary position of Governor of Fuzhou. However, there were powerful enemies surrounding them, and internal conflicts were rife. Without a legitimate heir, the family’s governance and military power would not be able to be passed on. It was also for this reason that Madam Zhe secretly sent her eldest son to be raised in Luoyang for his safety.
But the night before they were to reunite, Zhe Conghuai was assassinated. Madam Zhe, unable to grieve, immediately sealed off the news and had to let Zhe Conghuai take the place of her real son. Later, Zhe Conghuai began to suspect the truth about his identity, and Madam Zhe, feeling guilty, eventually told him the real story. Now, mother and son, along with siblings, were reunited. The family was overjoyed and cried tears of happiness.
Qiong Nu, standing in the corner, also shed tears at the scene. Meanwhile, Jiang Chaozong, who was seeking beautiful young women for Cui Weizhi, fell into Yang Xian’s trap. He was captured and hung from a tree, where he was beaten by Yang Xian before being sent to the authorities. The next morning, Madam Li opened the door to find Yang Xian standing there, wearing clothes she had personally made for him.
Yang Xian sincerely expressed that he had been thinking of reconciling with her and would never be ungrateful. He even offered to stay in the Li family as a servant to ease Le Shan’s resentment. Madam Li could not refuse and agreed. Le Shan, however, gave him trouble at every turn, though she gradually began to care about him. Because Cui Weizhi had interceded on Jiang Chaozong’s behalf, he was soon released from prison and swore to kill Yang Xian.
Yang Xian sought the help of the courtesan Tao Niangzi, who cleverly executed a plan to drop a handkerchief from the sedan, luring Jiang Chaozong into the trap. Le Shan, hearing that Zhe Conghuai had been injured after falling off his horse, hurried to the Zhe family. To her surprise, Yang Xian followed her, and together they discovered that someone had deliberately attempted to harm Zhe Conghuai, and that the culprit was the treacherous Prime Minister Cui Weizhi.
With a common enemy, Yang Xian was willing to join forces with the Zhe family to deal with Cui Weizhi, and Le Shan did not oppose this. Le Shan later found out that Cui Weizhi had gathered 2,000 children to enter the capital for the Emperor’s birthday celebration, but this “gathering” was actually a forcible abduction, which greatly angered her.
Jiang Chaozong sent six women to Cui Weizhi, but their convoy was stopped by local villagers, and Yang Xian’s people knocked out the bearers and infiltrated the group. At the same time, Chen Xiaogu was abducted and woke up to find Le Shan and Yang Xian standing before her. The two of them deliberately staged a scene, making Chen Xiaogu believe that the Yang family had a chest of gold.
