Pretty Boy Episode 19 Recap
> Pretty Boy Recap
When Qing Cai was roasting meat for Gan Pu, he noticed the guards Chunlan and Qiujü nearby, eyeing the food hungrily. Unable to resist their expressions, he invited them to join. Chunlan and Qiujü, having witnessed Qing Cai’s genuine care for Gan Pu, were deeply moved. They remembered how Qing Cai once shared the rabbits he hunted with them. Touched by his kindness, the two guards gradually became his friends.
Once the meat was cooked, Qing Cai gave each guard a skewer before bringing some for Gan Pu. Standing outside her door, Qing Cai passed the food to Gan Pu, who watched his efforts through the crack in the door. Her eyes welled with tears at his devotion. After ensuring Gan Pu finished eating, Qing Cai heard her say she didn’t want to sleep. He reached his hand through the door to hold hers.
The guards, unable to bear their separation, opened the door, allowing Qing Cai and Gan Pu to be together. Finally able to spend time together, Qing Cai and Gan Pu embraced, crying over their uncertain future. They cherished every moment they had, not knowing what lay ahead. Gan Pu fell asleep in Qing Cai’s arms, pushing aside thoughts of the consequences they faced.
Meanwhile, Hong Hui continued to send wild chickens and rabbits from his hunts, which the guards delivered to them. One day, when the guards opened the door to deliver the food, they saw Qing Cai and Gan Pu peacefully asleep together. The guards asked Qing Cai to come outside to roast the meat but refused to let Gan Pu leave. Qing Cai then asked, “Would a rabbit eat a chicken? ” Confused, the guards replied, “Of course not.
” Qing Cai used this analogy to explain that, even if he and Gan Pu were allowed into the courtyard, they wouldn’t escape. They had no desire to separate, even for a minute, and with the manor heavily guarded, fleeing was impossible. Persuaded by Qing Cai’s eloquence, the guards relented, letting Gan Pu join him. Together, they prepared meals and roasted meat. Tragedy struck when Yin Niang passed away. This meant that Gan Pu now had to face judgment.
The manor guards separated Qing Cai from her and took him away. Gao Yin, reflecting on Yin Niang’s injuries, recalled her earlier diagnosis. Yin Niang had been gravely wounded in a critical area, and if she hadn’t turned slightly at that moment, she wouldn’t have survived the night. Gao Yin had also received a covert order from her superiors: she was to poison Qing Cai. With Yin Niang gone, the pressure to complete this mission intensified.
Qing Cai and Gan Pu were taken to a hidden chamber by the manor guards. There, Hong Xiu revealed that Wang Yishao had contacted them earlier, saying the king would soon arrive with reinforcements. When that time came, they would cooperate to stage a performance for the king. Hong Xiu then admitted that she was also a survivor of the Mohist sect.
She explained that when Yin Niang returned to the Mohist camp to rescue survivors, she saved many widows and orphans, who were later well cared for. Hong Xiu also revealed that the former king’s death had been orchestrated by Yin Niang herself. Hearing this, Gan Pu realized that members of the Mohist sect had been by her side all along. Hong Xiu further shared that before her death, Yin Niang had decreed that Gan Pu be spared.
Additionally, based on recent intelligence, the messages Wang Yishao had received were likely false. The current king was not as ruthless as they thought. Years ago, when someone suggested wiping out Mingyi Manor, the king ultimately decided against it after weighing his options. With this information, everyone awaited the king’s arrival to resolve the matter. The following days passed peacefully. Han Aizhen, Hu Jiao, and Hong Hui passed the time by playing music together. Despite their calm exteriors, tension lingered. Several factions were present, and no one knew which side would ultimately prevail.
