Ding Haichuan had a premonition that the situation was different this time, so he hoped that the boss would give him more money and let him flee. The boss told him not to panic and promised to send the money to his house that night. Ding Haichuan left with gratitude, but the boss immediately ordered his men to take care of Ding Haichuan. Ding Haichuan disappeared without a trace, and neither Xing Yi nor Huo Qing could find him.
Mei Niang woke up and didn't see Xian Ge, so she hurriedly went out to look for him. Xian Ge came back with food and told her that he went to buy supper for her. Mei Niang was moved but reminded him to be careful.

Huo Qing came to tell him that Ding Haichuan's body was found in a makeshift grave. He seemed to have been killed by someone he knew, as there were no signs of struggle and the fatal blow was from behind.
Xing Yi met with Lao San and spoke the secret codes fluently, impressing him and gaining his trust. Lao San promised to arrange a meeting between Xing Yi and Feng Datou soon.
Huo Qing and Yan Er went to investigate in Zhou Mansion again and took away an unfinished portrait. They found a white-clothed figure, which was rumored to be a ghost, and were frightened. They left the mansion and told Xing Yi about it, suspecting that the person was related to the murder case. Huo Qing asked Xing Yi to continue preparing for the meeting with Feng Datou while she went to ask for information from Liu, the town mayor.
