After Huo Zhanbai learned about Xue Ziye's background, he grew increasingly anxious. No wonder she had always avoided answering his questions about how she ended up in Medicine Master Valley. Huo Zhanbai picked up his brush and wrote a letter to his master, hoping to obtain clues regarding the massacre of Mo Village. Xue Ziye had gone out and returned at dawn, having just collected rootless water.

Xia Qianyu, who was about to leave, had learned from Feng Lv that Xue Ziye had been treating the surrounding villages and had helped many children. He realized he had misunderstood her and intended to bid her a proper farewell. Huo Zhanbai advised him against it, worried that it might lead to the topic of Mo Village.

Xue Ziye instructed Huo Zhanbai to get a physical examination, saying that if there were no major issues, he could soon recover and leave. Today, Huo Zhanbai was unusually quiet, unlike his usual chatty self. He looked at Xue Ziye with newfound sympathy, realizing that she had been carrying so much burden on her own. Huo Zhanbai had mostly recovered and was finally ready to set out in search of the next medicinal ingredient.

Xue Ziye gave him a jar of her homemade wound medicine and, despite her tough demeanor, reminded him not to die, as his debt had not yet been repaid. When bidding farewell to Xia Qianyu, the latter apologized once more for what had happened earlier, admitting that his anger over his Fifth Brother’s matter had somewhat unjustly affected Huo Zhanbai. After Huo Zhanbai left, Xue Ziye took out his wooden hairpin to try it on.

While tidying the guest room, she found Huo Zhanbai’s wine flask had fallen, and she recalled the scene of them drinking together that night, a faint smile appearing on her face. When passing by Brother Meng's house, a few people invited Huo to stay and have a drink with them. While there, someone had injured their leg, so Huo Zhanbai offered them the wound medicine Xue Ziye had given him.

As he wandered around year after year, rarely settling down, Brother Meng sent him off with plenty of wine. Tong unleashed a massacre in the Heaven Kingdom Paradise, killing everyone. This was because Zhang Wujue had personally told him that the people there were at his disposal. Zhang Wujue was not angry; on the contrary, he seemed quite satisfied. Qiu Shuihe, the leader of the Tianshan Sect, received a letter from Huo Zhanbai mentioning the massacre of Mo Village.

While Huo Zhanbai was searching for medicine for Mo'er, Qiu Shuihe descended from the sky to deliver the sought-after herb to him. In Qiu Shuihe's eyes, both Huo Zhanbai and Qiu Shuiyin were like his own children. The road ahead was treacherous, and Qiu Shuihe didn’t want Huo Zhanbai to carry such a heavy burden. He needed to feel reassured.

Qiu Shuiyin and Mo'er were likely at Medicine Master Valley seeking treatment, so Huo Zhanbai invited Qiu Shuihe to accompany him to the valley to check on the mother and son. When the topic of Mo Village came up, Qiu Shuihe’s eyes flickered, and he claimed not to have any leads. Qiu Shuiyin brought Mo'er for treatment, but each time, they seemed to miss Huo Zhanbai. Xue Ziye arranged for her to stay in the valley.

On the road, Huo Zhanbai and Qiu Shuihe were ambushed by Yuan Yi Palace, and Huo Zhanbai was severely poisoned. While Xue Ziye was collecting dew, she suddenly felt uneasy and looked worriedly toward the road outside the valley. Not long after, Qiu Shuihe arrived, carrying Huo Zhanbai, who was slumped over the horse's back, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Huo Zhanbai was gravely injured, and Xue Ziye quickly began treating him.

Qiu Shuihe reunited with Qiu Shuiyin and Mo'er, handing over the dragon tongue herb to Xue Ziye, as Huo Zhanbai had instructed before he fell unconscious. Over the years, Huo Zhanbai had returned time and again with medicinal ingredients, often either poisoned or utterly exhausted, as if he never tired. Unknowingly, a deeper connection had developed between Xue Ziye and Huo Zhanbai.

When Huo Zhanbai woke up, his first concern was his master and Mo'er's medicine, but his throat was damaged, leaving him unable to speak. Xue Ziye sarcastically remarked that it was good he would be speaking less. She then noted that while Huo Zhanbai didn’t seem worried about being disabled for life, he immediately grew anxious when told he couldn’t retrieve the medicine right away.

Xue Ziye approached Huo Zhanbai, asking him to remove his clothes so she could perform scraping therapy (gua sha) on him. Huo Zhanbai, feeling flustered, grabbed the tool and insisted on doing it himself. However, seeing that his technique was clumsy, Xue Ziye took over and performed the treatment herself. Although his throat had improved, it still hurt a lot. This time, Huo Zhanbai had been injured while saving Qiu Shuihe, whom he viewed as his own father, so naturally, he had given it his all.
