When Qiu Shuihe woke up and saw Huo Zhanbai had returned, he was astonished. Xue Ziye used the excuse that Qiu Shuihe had fainted due to poor health and had asked Huo Zhanbai to return to take care of him. Grandma Ning remarked that Huo Zhanbai was a sensible child with no bias. Some things must be faced head-on, but she wondered how Qiu Shuihe would answer Huo Zhanbai’s questions.

Huo Zhanbai thought deeply for a long time and, late at night, went to Qiu Shuihe’s room, saying he wanted to spend some time with him. Qiu Shuihe, unwilling to do so, drew his sword, ready to make another mistake.

Huo Zhanbai rushed in just in time to block the blow for her. Qiu Shuihe turned to leave, but he was assassinated by Tong. Fortunately, Huo Zhanbai and Xue Ziye arrived in time and found that he was still breathing. After a moment of internal conflict, Xue Ziye decided to save him. By morning, Qiu Shuihe’s life was spared. Huo Zhanbai explained the events to Qiu Shuiyin, saying he would report the matter to the Dingjian Pavilion.

After all, everyone must pay for the wrongs they have done. With the truth finally revealed, Xue Ziye returned to Xue Huai but sent a jar of *Xiao Hongchen* wine to Huo Zhanbai. Huo Zhanbai then visited Grandma Ning, knowing how much sorrow Xue Ziye held in her heart, and asked her to comfort Xue Ziye. That night, Grandma Ning visited Xue Ziye’s room.
