The Mirror God told Xie Xuechen that he could help him return to the past and change Mu Xuanling's fate. However, only Xie Xuechen's spiritual form could return, while his physical body would remain in the present. Each journey back would deplete his spirit. Xie Xuechen replied that as long as he could save Mu Xuanling, it didn’t matter what it cost. The Mirror God asked him to decide which point in time he wanted to return to.

Xie Xuechen chose to go back to the moment before the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation was activated, as that event had ultimately led to Mu Xuanling's death. He was determined to stop He Xianwo. As Xie Xuechen’s spirit traveled back, he opened his eyes and saw Mu Xuanling. Overcome with emotion, he gazed at her with deep affection and gently touched her face. Mu Xuanling was confused by his sudden behavior but still embraced him.

Nearby, Elder Cang turned away, unwilling to witness their affectionate exchange. Xie Xuechen revealed that He Xianwo was the leader of the Decaying Immortal Pavilion and that he had to stop him from activating the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation. When Elder Cang asked how he knew this, Xie Xuechen said there was no time to explain and immediately teleported to confront He Xianwo. Xie Xuechen and He Xianwo engaged in a fierce battle.

He Xianwo was shocked by how powerful Xie Xuechen’s abilities had become. Just as Xie Xuechen was about to defeat him, he was abruptly pulled back to the present. The Mirror God watched everything unfold and wondered if Xie Xuechen might be the person he had been waiting for. When Xie Xuechen returned, he was frustrated. He said he had been so close to succeeding and asked why the Mirror God had pulled him back.

The Mirror God explained that it wasn’t his doing—Xie Xuechen's time had simply run out. Despite the failure, Xie Xuechen insisted on trying again. This time, he planned to prevent Mu Xuanling from staying in the Dark Abyss. When Xie Xuechen awoke, he found himself secluded on a snowy cliff. To avoid drawing attention, he used a hairpin that Mu Xuanling had taught him to alter his appearance.

He traveled to the Dark Abyss, where Mu Xuanling had already defeated numerous spirit clansmen and stood alone. As Xie Xuechen approached, he accidentally fell into a trap. Annoyed, he muttered, “Who sets traps at their own doorstep? ”Mu Xuanling appeared before him and reached out to pull him up, but just as Xie Xuechen grabbed her hand, she let go. She wasn’t sure if he was a friend or foe.

Left to his own devices, Xie Xuechen climbed out of the trap. He told Mu Xuanling not to stay in the Dark Abyss and urged her to live a normal life. Confused, Mu Xuanling questioned his intentions. Xie Xuechen explained that if her elder brother were still alive, he would want the same for her. Hearing this, Mu Xuanling was startled and asked how Xie Xuechen knew about her elder brother.

She declared that she needed to become stronger to avenge him. Realizing dawn was approaching, Xie Xuechen had no time to explain further and attempted to take Mu Xuanling away. However, she refused to leave with him. Determined, Xie Xuechen insisted, but Mu Xuanling pulled out a flare and threatened to fire it if he didn’t leave. She warned him that Sang Qi would return if she did so. Fearing exposure, Xie Xuechen reluctantly left.

Upon returning, he found the lights in his room still on. Peeking inside, he discovered his father there. For the first time, Xie Xuechen realized that his father truly loved him. But he also knew he couldn’t change his father’s fate. Back in the present, the Mirror God informed Xie Xuechen that his actions had still not changed anything. Xie Xuechen resolved to try a third time.

The Mirror God warned him that his spirit was already damaged, but Xie Xuechen insisted, saying that Mu Xuanling was still waiting for him. This time, Xie Xuechen returned to rescue Mu Xuanling, who was being forced to work as a spirit slave at Mingyue Manor. He bought her clothes, treated her to good food, and learned during their time together that the “elder brother” Mu Xuanling often spoke of was actually him.

Determined to take her away from the manor, Xie Xuechen went to find Gao Fengxu, seeking his approval to take Mu Xuanling with him. He arrived at Mingyue Manor and came face-to-face with Gao Fengxu.
