All things under heaven possess spirit. Within the Kunlun Ruins lies a spiritual stone that can revive the dead and reverse fate, called the Thousand Years Token. Fearing that this divine artifact might incite chaos among the heavens, mortals, and demons, the Celestial Realm sealed it within the Divine Hall under the guard of Bai Yan, the True God.

However, Xuan Yi, the ambitious demon lord of the asura clan from the Demon Realm, attempted to seize the Thousand Years Token to rule the three realms. He led his army in a great battle against Bai Yan. Yu Qing, the high god of the winged clan, was deeply in love with Xuan Yi and ultimately destroyed her own primordial spirit, crashing into the Thousand Years Token with Xuan Yi, resulting in both their deaths.

The war god Bai Yan used his divine power to draw away the Thousand Years Token and protect the beings of both realms. With his primordial cold ice divine power, Bai Yan cast the Thousand Years Token into the Sea of No Regret within the Realm Beyond and sealed it with his own primordial spirit.

From then on, the Sea of No Regret was frozen over for ten thousand miles, and the war god Bai Yan entered a long slumber beneath the ice. Due to this war between immortals and demons, Yu Qing committed the crime of colluding with the Demon Realm. As a result, the winged clan of Mount Danxue was implicated. The Heavenly Emperor expelled them from the celestial registry, stripping them of their divine status.

Grandpa Danhe plucked feathers from the winged clan to craft a feather fan, hoping that Ni Huang could use it to recover Yu Qing's primordial spirit and perhaps restore their place among the gods. However, Hei Ying believed Yu Qing was at fault and caused the downfall of Mount Danxue. Especially since Ni Huang intended to resurrect Yu Qing, they feared divine punishment if discovered.

But Hei Ying was scolded and beaten by Ni Huang, who insisted that her sister only fell in love with the demon lord and committed no crime. If Yu Qing's primordial spirit could be found, the heavens would surely forgive her, allowing her to return to the divine ranks. Everyone supported Ni Huang's decision. Holding the feather fan crafted by everyone, Ni Huang set off to search for Yu Qing's primordial spirit.

She accidentally fell, landing in a place frozen for miles. From beneath the ice, she saw a young man sitting inside. Suddenly, he opened his eyes, leapt out, grabbed Ni Huang by the throat, and questioned why she was there. But before he could tighten his grip, he turned into a dragon and collapsed, looking extremely weak. At that moment, the divine lord Tuo Sang arrived with two young attendants to inspect the area.

They found the barrier of the Realm Beyond intact, though spiritual power still lingered within, and they were momentarily unable to enter. Ni Huang believed the dragon's weakness was due to being frozen too long and used her true flame and a hot spring to heal him. Meanwhile, Tuo Sang reported the current situation of the Realm Beyond to the Heavenly Lord, stating that a divine token was required to enter.

They speculated that the war god Bai Yan might be awakening. The Heavenly Lord then ordered Tuo Sang not to disturb Bai Yan as he reassembled his spiritual power. When Bai Yan awoke, he found Ni Huang lying on the ground in her phoenix form. Curious about how she entered the Realm Beyond, Ni Huang claimed she simply walked in.

Bai Yan was surprised at how easily she managed to enter and became even more curious about the outside world's climate. Ni Huang used the hot spring to let Bai Yan feel the temperature. Bai Yan marveled that after a thousand years, there was finally warmth here. Ni Huang honestly told Bai Yan that she brought the feather fan to summon the primordial spirit, never expecting to end up here. Suddenly, she realized the fan was missing.

It had actually been taken by Tuo Sang, who did not report it to the Heavenly Lord. Hearing a disturbance, Bai Yan immediately froze Ni Huang and went to investigate. Ni Huang, worried there might be a spirit under the ice, broke free and rushed to assist Bai Yan, unaware that he was about to reseal the Thousand Years Token.

The Thousand Years Token began to stir, trying to break free, but was eventually sealed again by Bai Yan and Ni Huang working together. Ni Huang fell unconscious, and Bai Yan, worried, checked on her. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled, saying she had saved him again. To treat her, Bai Yan placed Ni Huang in the hot spring. The two of them were naked, and Bai Yan passed spiritual energy to her.

When they both woke, they were embracing. Ni Huang said she wouldn’t cling to Bai Yan and intended to leave, but Bai Yan refused to let her go without an explanation for why she entered the Realm Beyond. He also promised to return the feather fan. Bai Yan brought Ni Huang out of the Realm Beyond. Upon seeing the war god, everyone bowed in respect. His disciple Qing He had long awaited his return and was overjoyed to see him.

Bai Yan introduced Ni Huang as his new disciple, but Ni Huang disagreed, saying she was his savior. Qing He didn’t believe it—after all, Bai Yan was the war god and needed no saving. Bai Yan paid respects to the Heavenly Lord and received a new battle robe. Tuo Sang was curious about who came back with Bai Yan. Bai Yan lied, saying his disciple was a koi fish from a pond that turned into human form under his guidance.

The Heavenly Lord was not suspicious. Afterward, Bai Yan warned Ni Huang not to speak the truth, threatening that her words could bring disaster upon the winged clan. He sealed Ni Huang’s true form so that others would see her as merely a fish. Ni Huang sincerely explained that she came to find her sister’s shattered primordial spirit and asked for Bai Yan’s help in recalling any memories.

Learning that Ni Huang risked so much just to find her sister pleased Bai Yan—so long as it wasn’t for a man. Tuo Sang came to visit Bai Yan again, bringing the feather fan and saying he hadn’t reported it to the Heavenly Lord. Bai Yan understood but pretended it was just a minor item dropped by a weak deity. Tuo Sang suggested Bai Yan’s young disciple should visit the other deities to introduce herself.

Bai Yan agreed to arrange it after some time. Ni Huang discovered that Bai Yan soaked his feet in Milky Way water and drank various teas for health. When he saw Qing He and Ni Huang, he invited them to join. Ni Huang tried his tea and suddenly burst into tears. Qing He explained it was Lotus Heart Eight Bitterness Tea, which Bai Yan drank daily to maintain his spiritual cultivation because the three realms hoped he would live well.

This left Ni Huang speechless. The next morning, Qing He took Ni Huang to the lotus pond to pick lotus seeds. Ni Huang, afraid of water, tried to avoid going. Qing He accused her of being lazy—how could a fish fear water? She pushed Ni Huang in. Struggling in the water, Ni Huang desperately hoped someone would save her. When Bai Yan found out, he rushed to rescue her.

Qing He admitted her mistake, confused about how a fish couldn’t swim, but suddenly understood why her master brought Ni Huang back. The saddest thing in the world is a bird that cannot fly, or a fish that cannot swim. When Tuo Sang came again, Bai Yan took the opportunity to ask for the feather fan. Tuo Sang grew suspicious of his intentions. Bai Yan lied that Qing He wanted a magic tool.

Tuo Sang agreed to give it after investigating the disturbances in the Realm Beyond. However, Qing He and Ni Huang came by together. Hearing about the feather fan, Ni Huang became agitated, arousing Tuo Sang’s suspicion. Fortunately, Bai Yan quickly sealed Ni Huang’s ability to speak. Knowing Ni Huang was anxious over the feather fan, Bai Yan offered to take her outside for a change of scenery.
