Feng Lixue shouted at Mo Xiao to leave quickly, but upon closer look, she realized it was actually an illusion of Chong Guang. Chong Guang told Feng Lixue that her heart had already wavered. When Feng Lixue came back to her senses, Chong Guang was standing before her, coughing up blood, unable to accept that she had feelings for anyone else. Suddenly, Feng Lixue sensed demonic energy from Chong Guang and pushed him away.

Just then, Chang Ming burst in, discovering Feng Lixue was frightened, and Chong Guang had also been injured by backlash. In private, Chang Ming asked Chong Guang if he had fallen for Feng Lixue, which was why he had suffered backlash. But Chong Guang denied ever having feelings for a pawn. Chang Ming, however, reminded him that ten years ago, Feng Xingtian gave the Ice Qing Parasite to Chong Guang, but had secretly tampered with it.

The Ice Qing Parasite came in pairs—mother and child. One was given to Chong Guang, the other to Feng Lixue, to guard against Chong Guang refusing to save her. The Ice Qing Parasites share life and death, and their fates are intertwined. Now that ten years had passed and the child parasite had matured, they could be reunited to increase Chong Guang’s power.

Yet, Chong Guang refused and instead ordered Chang Ming to look for the third spirit stone and forbade anyone from harming Feng Lixue. Chong Guang recalled that when Feng Xingtian gave him the Ice Qing Parasite, he claimed it could suppress the demonic energy in his body. Still uncertain if it was true, Chong Guang asked Chang Ming. Chang Ming, who understood this well, knew Feng Xingtian did it all for Feng Lixue.

But he didn’t think it was a bad thing. He said Feng Lixue was merely the host of the Ice Qing Parasite, and when the time came, it could be retrieved. Back then, Feng Xingtian was dueling with the Sword Immortal Feng Yue and fell off a cliff surrounded by demonic energy. Feng Lixue jumped after him. Chong Guang happened to be nearby, and just before his death, Feng Xingtian pleaded with him to save Feng Lixue.

Because of this, she survived. Feng Lixue sat alone on a rock, repeatedly recalling what Mo Xiao had said. He, too, had been injured by demonic energy, and his master sacrificed all his cultivation to save him. She wondered how she herself had survived and began to suspect there was a hidden truth behind her father’s death. She resolved to investigate everything thoroughly before deciding whether to believe Mo Xiao. Mo Xiao remained unconscious from poisoning.

Feng Lixue went to seek the antidote. The woman in red told her that unlike Mo Xiao, who sought it out of righteousness, she sought it out of love, and would therefore suffer pain a hundredfold worse. Yet Feng Lixue still resolutely stepped into the Red Dust Waters. Her mind was full of memories of Mo Xiao, but she kept moving forward and finally obtained the antidote.

That night, while no one was around, she administered the antidote to Mo Xiao. In his dazed state, he kept calling her name, bringing tears to Feng Lixue’s eyes. The next day, when Zi Su came to deliver something to Mo Xiao, she found him already recovered. Mo Xiao then realized what happened was not a dream. Yuan Beichen also arrived, having rushed there due to Mo Xiao’s poisoning.

Seeing him healed, he was delighted and planned to return to Shushan. Chong Guang still proudly believed that his plans had never changed, but the Chong Guang in the mirror reminded him that his plan had indeed changed. According to the plan from ten years ago, he should have already killed Feng Lixue.

But Chong Guang explained that he believed Feng Lixue’s poison now had even greater use for him, and that if he needed her, she would be at his disposal anytime. Yuan Beichen praised Mo Xiao greatly and declared that having such a young sect leader was Shushan’s blessing. He then announced that everyone had recovered and they could seize the opportunity to return to Shushan.

However, unbeknownst to them, Chang Ming, following Chong Guang’s orders, had already released the Bone-Melting Poison Barrier in the Valley of Desire. Seeing Mo Xiao in low spirits, Xie Lingyun came to comfort him, urging him to let go of some things. Immortals and demons could not coexist. But when Xie Lingyun returned, he discovered that countless Bone-Melting Poison Barriers had invaded the Valley of Desire.

He and Murong Ce led everyone to the higher level of the second floor and quickly informed Mo Xiao. When Yuan Beichen heard the news, he decided to go verify it himself and instructed that no sects were to retrieve their disciples for now. Ji Xingluo had been waiting in the Valley of Desire all along. Yuan Beichen mistakenly thought she was behind it.

Ji Xingluo denied it but said the reason she was there was to witness Yuan Beichen’s death. Yuan Beichen swore he would not allow anyone to destroy the world. Ji Xingluo cried and mocked him, saying that he couldn’t even protect his beloved and still thought he could protect the world—that was the real joke. Yuan Beichen went to Murong Jing and the others to inform them about the poisonous gas and explain how to dispel the Poison Barrier.
