Yue Yao publicly accused Feng Lixue in front of the leaders of the sects, claiming she deliberately sabotaged the exorcism efforts, resulting in the deaths of many disciples. Xie Lingyun and Murong Jing spoke in defense of Feng Lixue, and Mo Xiao explained that Feng Lixue had already done her best—only those with insufficient power perished. However, the sect leaders still believed that Feng Lixue volunteering to help with the exorcism was done with ill intent.

Mo Xiao refuted them publicly, pointing out that everyone was present when Feng Lixue arrived. He also promised that he would give a full explanation of the incident. Afterward, Mo Xiao locked himself in his room and summoned Hualang to ask about what happened yesterday. He learned that Hong Yue and the others had gone to Guiyin House to find Ling Xiang, and that it was Po Yun who had rescued Feng Lixue, though they hadn’t made any moves since.

Mo Xiao worried that something might have happened to Feng Lixue. At that moment, Murong Ce came to see him and admitted his failure in safeguarding the sect, allowing evil cult members to infiltrate—it was his own dereliction of duty. However, Mo Xiao had not revealed this during the public meeting. Murong Ce was deeply remorseful and came specifically to apologize. Mo Xiao believed that Murong Ce had always been meticulous, and that no one could enter without a waist token.

Since he had brought Feng Lixue into the formation himself, there could not have been any outsiders—someone must have been colluding from the inside. Mo Xiao instructed Murong Ce to investigate Ling Xiang and pay attention to whether there was any connection with Shushan disciples. Murong Ce felt grateful for Mo Xiao’s trust. Meanwhile, Lu Jianchuan was practicing the Soul Guiding Spell alone in the mountains, worried that Mo Xiao would discover the issue with his waist token.

Yuan Beichen privately asked Mo Xiao if he had a plan in mind when he made that promise to give an explanation. Mo Xiao suspected there was a traitor and recalled that Feng Lixue had used her body to block demonic energy yesterday—without her, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Therefore, she could not have been responsible.

Mo Xiao speculated that someone was manipulating things behind the scenes, and that their target was within Fengdu City, likely seeking the whereabouts of the asura stone. Yuan Beichen feared impending disaster in Fengdu City. Mo Xiao, also concerned for the people, proposed a lantern ritual under the name of the sects to pray for peace. Yuan Beichen immediately agreed but warned Mo Xiao to remain vigilant and not be distracted by Feng Lixue.

Mo Xiao returned to the demon sect and ordered that no matter what, the people of Shushan and Seven Caverns Nine Nether must not harm Feng Lixue. Although Zi Ying was reluctant to pass on the order, she had no choice but to comply. Feng Lixue had mostly recovered. Cangcang told her that the people outside were praising her for dispelling disaster for the people. Feng Lixue wanted to go see for herself, but Cangcang tried to stop her.

Feng Lixue insisted on going, only to discover that instead of being grateful, the people were pointing fingers at her, accusing her of colluding with the demon sect and bringing calamity to Fengdu City. They believed that just as Feng Xingtian had fallen into the demonic path in the past, now Feng Lixue had done the same. To them, she was a disaster to the city. Cangcang urged her to return quickly.

Back at home, Feng Lixue questioned Gu Bai and Po Yun, upset that everyone misunderstood her as being in league with the demon sect. She feared that Shushan believed the same. Po Yun explained that Shushan hadn’t made any moves so far. Feng Lixue was heartbroken, feeling that she could never regain Shushan’s trust.

Po Yun knew about Mo Xiao’s plan to pray with lanterns but didn’t tell Feng Lixue, not wanting to give her false hope only for her to be disappointed again. He could only wait for a change in the situation. Xuyuan Yunchao found some information. When the lanterns were released in Fengdu City, he planned to infuse one with demonic energy—perhaps it could help locate his older brother.

Wushuang was overjoyed and immediately sent Xuyuan Yunchao down the mountain to carry it out. Murong Ce had been keeping an eye on Ling Xiang. Late at night, he saw a figure in black appear and began following. During the scuffle, the figure’s veil was torn off. Murong Ce demanded to know her mission, but she refused to answer and suddenly flew away.

Murong Ce picked up a bracelet from the ground, which reminded him of the little girl taken away to search for her family years ago—now she had returned as a shadow assassin. Feng Lixue had purged her demonic powers, but her sudden recovery overnight and the complete absence of demonic energy in her body was too extraordinary. No one would believe she had no ties to the demonic poison.

Mo Xiao briefly doubted her when he heard she was safe, but ultimately trusted that she would never side with the demon sect. Murong Ce reported his findings to Mo Xiao, but the person he was investigating had sensed it and escaped beforehand. These people used the art of concealment, making them hard to track. Murong Jing also couldn’t figure out who was behind Ling Xiang.

Mo Xiao believed everything was leading up to tonight’s lantern festival—surely they’d find answers then. Mo Xiao tasked Murong Ce with retrieving the Spirit-Guarding Robe from Yishan. If someone came for the asura stone tonight, there would surely be demonic energy, and the robe could protect the city’s residents. Mo Xiao assigned Murong Ce to protect the people while he handled the rest. Feng Lixue went to the street with Cangcang to view the lanterns.

Cangcang wanted to buy one, but no one would sell once they recognized Feng Lixue. Cangcang ran off crying and encountered Mo Xiao, who knew Cangcang wanted to see the lanterns and had specially prepared a lotus lantern. Cangcang brought Feng Lixue to see it, and she wept, knowing it was Mo Xiao’s doing. As Mo Xiao released the lanterns in prayer, Xuyuan Yunchao arrived.

Just as the lanterns floated into the sky, demonic spirits from Seven Caverns Nine Nether suddenly appeared and attacked them, sending the people fleeing in terror. Murong Ce used the Spirit-Guarding Robe to shield the people, calming them down. Mo Xiao soared into the sky and fought with the Seven Caverns Nine Nether. Feng Lixue also arrived at the scene. Mo Xiao was suddenly trapped by the spirits and unable to move.

Feng Lixue flew to his rescue, fighting off the attackers and explaining to Mo Xiao that she had not allied with the demon sect—this battle would prove it. She charged in with her Phoenix Feather Chain. Chong Guang sensed something was wrong and ordered Chang Ming to check on the situation, warning his subordinates not to harm Feng Lixue.

Although the Seven Caverns Nine Nether had been ordered not to hurt Feng Lixue, their desperation to obtain the asura stone led them to attack her regardless. Just as Feng Lixue was about to collapse from exhaustion, Mo Xiao broke free and caught her. The demonic energy gradually dispersed, and Murong Ce retrieved the Spirit-Guarding Robe.
