Xie Lingyun pushed Mo Xiao into the bottomless abyss, severing their brotherly bond. Mo Xiao grieved that being a demon was not his choice, yet in the end, he met such a tragic fate. As Xie Lingyun watched Mo Xiao's body slowly fall, he couldn't help but cry out his name loudly, then fainted from overwhelming sorrow.

Wushuang walked to the edge of the cliff and called out for Mo Xiao, while Xuyuan Yunchao, afraid that Wushuang might fall, hurriedly pulled her back. Feng Lixue stood there with a look of sadness, helplessness, and numbness. Chong Guang quickly took her away, but Feng Lixue, overcome with emotion, kept shouting to save him.

Normally, those who were under the puppet curse would have no independent thought and would completely obey orders, but no matter how Chong Guang called Feng Lixue, she did not respond. Helplessly, Chong Guang had no choice but to knock her out, worried that the puppet curse might have been broken. He then instructed Chang Ming to assign someone specifically to look after Feng Lixue, warning that no mistakes were allowed.

Murong Changfeng led the disciples of Mount Shu to question Yuan Beichen for protecting Mo Xiao, a member of the asura clan, and demanded that Yuan Beichen hand over the sect leader's token. Yuan Beichen denied having the token. In fact, Murong Changfeng had already searched for the token but couldn't find it, so he came to confront Yuan Beichen.

Yuan Beichen reminded Murong Changfeng that he could become the acting sect leader, but without the token, he could only be a substitute. Xuan Qing, preparing to leave, was questioned by Murong Changfeng about the token. Xuan Qing coldly replied that Baicao Sect had always stayed out of disputes, and now he did not care who the sect leader was. Yuan Beichen voluntarily went to the Discipline Hall to accept punishment.

Murong Ce and Murong Jing never imagined that Mount Shu would fall into such chaos. Xie Lingyun remained unconscious, and internal disorder plagued the sect. Murong Ce comforted Murong Jing, saying that at this moment, they should focus on doing their duties well without making mistakes. On her way back, Murong Jing accidentally overheard a conversation between Murong Changfeng and Lu Jianchuan.

She learned that Lu Jianchuan had been tainted by demonic energy and had used the Soul Transfer Curse to infuse Mo Xiao with it, causing Mo Xiao's demonic nature to erupt in front of everyone. It was also Lu Jianchuan who, after witnessing Mo Xiao's eruption, killed fellow disciples and framed Mo Xiao, leading to the falling out between Xie Lingyun and Mo Xiao. Murong Changfeng warned Lu Jianchuan that this must not happen again.

Unable to bear it, Murong Jing burst in to question Lu Jianchuan, but Murong Changfeng stopped her. Murong Jing felt deep disappointment in Murong Changfeng's actions and hoped he could return to being the kind and gentle father she once knew. But Murong Changfeng insisted he had not changed and that everything he did was to protect Murong Ce and Murong Jing.

He believed he was Sword Sovereign's most outstanding disciple and resented that the position was passed to a member of the asura clan. He thought only he and Murong Ce could lead Mount Shu to greatness. Murong Changfeng urged Murong Jing to be a good heir to the Fengyu Sect and to fulfill her role as his daughter, promising to protect her for life. Furious, Murong Jing flung her sleeve and left.

Murong Changfeng, heartbroken by the misunderstanding, shed two lines of tears. Xuan Qing fed Yuan Beichen a pill. Yuan Beichen understood that Murong Changfeng’s actions were the result of long-suppressed anger, but he would never compromise. Xuan Qing worried that Murong Changfeng would torment Yuan Beichen and also had some doubts about Mo Xiao, fearing that he might not be reformed. However, Murong Changfeng and Sword Sovereign had spent eighteen years trying to reform Mo Xiao.

At this point, Yuan Beichen could only choose to believe in Mo Xiao and believe that he would one day fulfill his mission. Yuan Beichen reminded Xuan Qing that until Mo Xiao completed his mission, not a single word could be revealed, and he must wait for news about Mo Xiao. Murong Jing held Xie Lingyun's hand and wept. She did not know what to do.

With Xie Lingyun unconscious and her father's actions weighing on her, she was at a loss—wanting to expose the truth but unable to bear hurting her father. Lu Jianchuan, wearing the Daoist robe of Wentian Sect’s head, visited Yuan Beichen in prison. He accused Yuan Beichen of favoring Mo Xiao and boasted that he would become the next sect leader of Mount Shu, having already become the head of Wentian Sect.

Yuan Beichen was shocked by Lu Jianchuan’s ambition, but Lu Jianchuan believed that his master had never cared for him, only ever favoring Mo Xiao. Suddenly, the demonic poison within Lu Jianchuan flared up. He admitted that he had used the Soul Transfer Curse to harm Mo Xiao. Yuan Beichen guessed that someone had been secretly helping Lu Jianchuan and questioned when Lu Jianchuan had become possessed by inner demons.

Lu Jianchuan could not remember exactly when, but he knew that ever since Mo Xiao appeared and became the young sect leader, he began to resent Yuan Beichen. Yuan Beichen was even more disappointed in him, while Lu Jianchuan insisted that Yuan Beichen had never placed any hopes in him, and thus could not be disappointed.

Yuan Beichen recounted how, years ago, Lu Jianchuan’s mother, pursued by enemies, had knelt step by step all the way to Mount Shu to protect her son. Although there was no destined bond of master and disciple between Yuan Beichen and Lu Jianchuan, seeing the mother’s devotion, Yuan Beichen had made an exception and accepted him as a disciple.

Because Lu Jianchuan, traumatized by his family’s tragedy, had a violent temperament from childhood, Yuan Beichen only taught him some calming techniques, hoping he could live peacefully. However, Lu Jianchuan misunderstood this as Yuan Beichen’s dislike and lack of sincere teaching. Fengyu Sect had been tracking Mo Xiao’s aura, but it disappeared at Lishui River. Thus, Lu Jianchuan speculated that the Thousand Years Token was not on Mo Xiao and demanded that Yuan Beichen hand over the token.

Yuan Beichen agreed but insisted that it be handed over in front of all sect leaders, to which Lu Jianchuan readily agreed, wishing for as many witnesses as possible. When everyone gathered in the main hall, Yuan Beichen deliberately proposed to hand the token solely to Lu Jianchuan.

Lu Jianchuan, thinking Yuan Beichen still cherished their master-disciple bond, happily went forward to accept it and even promised that when Yuan Beichen faced the sword formation punishment, he would try to lessen his suffering. However, Yuan Beichen suddenly grabbed Lu Jianchuan’s hand and used his technique to force out Lu Jianchuan’s demonic aura, pressing him to reveal who was behind the scenes and who had given him the Soul Transfer Curse.

Lu Jianchuan begged Murong Changfeng to save him, but Murong Changfeng, fearing that Lu Jianchuan would expose him, killed him on the spot. Using Lu Jianchuan’s corruption as an excuse, Murong Changfeng arrested everyone from Wentian Sect, including Yuan Beichen. Yuan Beichen questioned Murong Changfeng as to why the Soul Transfer Curse he had been safeguarding ended up in Lu Jianchuan’s hands, accusing him of being the one behind it.

Murong Changfeng turned the accusation around, claiming they had broken in and stolen it. Yuan Beichen gave a bitter smile and, willing to atone for his failure to judge character, vowed to gouge out his eyes, destroy his spiritual core, and die to apologize to Mount Shu. However, he requested that Xuan Qing keep his eyes, so that even after death, he could see whether Mount Shu would fall to the demonic path or remain righteous.

After saying this, Yuan Beichen gouged out his own eyes, shattered his spirit core, and died on the spot in front of everyone. Xuan Qing, weeping bitterly, guarded Yuan Beichen’s corpse, his gaze falling on the two eyeballs in his palm. Murong Changfeng was utterly shocked by this. Meanwhile, Mo Xiao floated in the water and was discovered by two boatmen who thought he was dead. They, along with the villagers, decided to give Mo Xiao a water burial.

Just as they were about to proceed, a glow suddenly emitted from Mo Xiao's forehead, leading the villagers to believe it was the power of an evil spirit. At that moment, Shi Bujio arrived, declaring that Mo Xiao was not dead and criticizing them for attempting a water burial. He took Mo Xiao away for treatment.
