Destiny and Saving Episode 5 Recap
> Destiny and Saving Recap
Wu Chen noticed that Mo Xiao had already awakened but hadn’t spoken, and assumed that, like Xue’er, he couldn’t speak. She felt that Mo Xiao was quite pitiful. In reality, Mo Xiao was simply circulating his inner energy and couldn’t speak for the moment. Wu Chen had no choice but to ask Mo Xiao to blink to express his wishes. She fed him some lingzhi water.
Mo Xiao blinked to show disapproval, but Wu Chen misunderstood it as delight and kept feeding him more lingzhi water, leaving Mo Xiao extremely distressed. After finishing his energy circulation, Mo Xiao woke up to find Wu Chen gone from the cave. Just as he was about to get up and look around, Wu Chen returned with Xue’er. She hadn’t found any food, so she shaped packed snow into plum blossom shapes and ate them.
Upon realizing she had no real food, Mo Xiao finally spoke and offered to go get some for her. Wu Chen waited a long time without seeing Mo Xiao return and decided to pick some fruit. Mo Xiao came back just in time with food. Wu Chen, initially wary of provoking snow wolves, hesitated to eat, but hunger eventually won out. She ate the food.
When Mo Xiao said he would be leaving, Wu Chen was worried she’d never get to eat such food again. Mo Xiao tried to persuade her to leave this place, but Wu Chen believed she was different from others and could not descend the mountain. Mo Xiao didn’t push her further and simply told her that if she ever changed her mind, she could come find him at Shushan.
Only then did Wu Chen learn that the person she had saved was named Mo Xiao. After tasting the delicious food from the mortal world, Wu Chen found it hard to stomach wild fruits from the mountains again. When Mo Xiao went outside, he was attacked by a snow demon. During their battle, an avalanche occurred. Mo Xiao used the Fengyue Sword to raise a barrier to resist the falling snow.
The snow demon continuously struck the barrier until it cracked, and the two resumed their fight. At that moment, Wu Chen appeared and was accidentally struck by the snow demon, knocking her unconscious. Mo Xiao hurriedly caught her, and the frost on her body melted instantly. When she woke up, her first words were that she wanted glutinous rice dumplings. News that Mo Xiao had defeated the snow demon reached Chong Guang.
The snow demon was a creature he had sealed for ten years and had intentionally released to cause trouble. Wu Chen being taken away by Mo Xiao had gone unexpectedly smoothly, which Chong Guang hadn’t anticipated. Though he knew the people from Shushan would investigate the snow fox, the snow fox's demon core had only been temporarily sealed by Chong Guang. Since it still had value, he chose not to kill it.
While treating Wu Chen's injuries with his internal energy, Mo Xiao discovered a powerful cold energy within her, which reminded him of Feng Lixue. But he had personally witnessed Feng Lixue’s death, so it was impossible for her to be reborn. Wu Chen was curious that people around her didn’t fear her, and she started touching everyone’s face. Mo Xiao quickly stopped her and reminded her of the differences between men and women and the need to protect herself.
Wu Chen liked the pinwheels on the street but didn’t understand what money was. Mo Xiao used the gold leaves Xie Lingyun had previously given him to buy everything Wu Chen wanted. Having never left the mountain before, Mo Xiao was delighted at how useful the gold leaves were, and everyone who received them looked cheerful.
Wu Chen took a liking to some clothes and immediately changed into them in public, startling Mo Xiao so much that he threw away all the gold leaves in his hands to distract the crowd and avoid her being exposed. Afterward, he bought more dresses for Wu Chen. Since Wu Chen didn’t know how to wear such clothes and Mo Xiao couldn’t look directly, he turned his back and used magic to help her get dressed.
Mo Xiao took Wu Chen to eat and tried to explain the rules: no random physical contact with others, don’t touch others' belongings, and no patting people’s heads—eventually listing twenty to thirty rules. But it seemed Wu Chen hadn’t heard a single one. Wu Chen was unhappy with Mo Xiao constantly setting rules for her. She used to only make rules for Xue’er, but now had to tolerate Mo Xiao’s because she was eating his food.
Reaching her limit, she demanded that he stop laying down rules. Mo Xiao arranged for Wu Chen to stay at the clan chief’s home, where a woman named Ah Hua was assigned to take care of her, feeling sorry for Wu Chen who had once lived in the barren Mang Mountain. After settling Wu Chen, Mo Xiao thanked the clan chief and prepared to leave.
Ah Hua had dressed Wu Chen up nicely, and when she saw Mo Xiao, she innocently asked if she looked beautiful. It was something the older woman had taught her: use beauty, the best magic of all, to make a man stay. Upon learning this, Mo Xiao told Ah Hua not to teach Wu Chen such things, as Wu Chen was naïve and didn’t understand the ways of the world.
When Wu Chen heard that Mo Xiao had left, she panicked and tried to chase after him, but the clan chief stopped her and ordered her tied up. Ah Hua also persuaded her to stay peacefully and find someone to marry, telling her that Mo Xiao was destined to become immortal and couldn’t be with her. Angered, Wu Chen used her ice magic to freeze everyone in the room and broke free of the ropes.
Mo Xiao was drinking tea when he heard a scream and, fearing something had happened to Wu Chen, rushed back to find her nearly unconscious and everything around her frozen. He took her hand to warm her up. Wu Chen woke up and smiled at Mo Xiao, who blamed himself for setting so many rules but forgetting to set this one. The clan chief declared Wu Chen a demoness and surrounded the building, demanding her elimination.
Mo Xiao proposed to take her away, but the clan chief refused, insisting she be dealt with by them. According to Shushan’s rules, magic couldn’t be used against civilians, and people began accusing Mo Xiao of violating sect laws to protect a demon. Mo Xiao swore not to use magic, only his body, to save Wu Chen. He rushed upstairs only to find the room empty—Wu Chen had already been released by Ah Hua.
Ah Hua knew Wu Chen had never harmed anyone, but also understood that no one would believe her. Wu Chen asked her to tell Mo Xiao to find her and praised Ah Hua for being a beautiful woman. Ah Hua smiled and urged Wu Chen to leave quickly. When Ah Hua returned, she happened to run into Mo Xiao. News reached Shushan, and they grew concerned that Wu Chen might be a remnant of the snow demons.
But now that Mo Xiao, who had just completed his mission, was helping Wu Chen, even Yuan Beichen began to worry. Mo Xiao eventually found Wu Chen and brought her favorite glutinous rice dumplings. Wu Chen ate while crying, asking him not to treat her like that again next time. Mo Xiao wanted to boil some hot water but discovered he couldn’t manage the stove. Wu Chen stepped in to help, teasing him for having something he couldn’t do. She quickly got the fire going and proudly watched it burn—only for the kettle to suddenly explode. She could only smile awkwardly.
