Destiny and Saving Episode 8 Recap
> Destiny and Saving Recap
Yuan Beichen questioned Mo Xiao about what he intended to do if he refused to let Wu Chen go. Mo Xiao declared that even if he had to bear all the punishment, he would still save Wu Chen. Yuan Beichen became even angrier and ordered the strengthening of the Demon Suppression Curse. Each time the talisman struck Wu Chen, Chong Guang cried out in pain, as if he could feel the same agony.
Yet, he was strangely pleased, for only through such pain did he feel truly alive. Mo Xiao remembered the venomous oath once sworn by Feng Lixue—that she would return for revenge even as a ghost. With a heart full of anguish, he once again pleaded with Yuan Beichen to let Wu Chen go. However, Yuan Beichen warned that the more he pleaded, the heavier the punishment would become.
If Mo Xiao was willing to risk his life to save her, he would intensify the punishment even further. In the end, even if Mo Xiao survived, Wu Chen would not. The news reached Chong Guang, and he finally understood the source of his chest pain. He immediately ordered someone to inform "that person", determined not to let anything happen to Wu Chen. Meanwhile, Wu Chen suffered greatly inside the Demon Suppression Palace.
Yuan Beichen furiously ordered Mo Xiao to confess his crimes at the Sword Pavilion, threatening that Wu Chen would not leave alive otherwise. A man in black robes secretly observed Mo Xiao being taken to the Sword Pavilion, then flew into the Demon Suppression Array himself, using his own body to block the curse's power from Wu Chen. In her haze, Wu Chen saw a masked man appear before her, and then closed her eyes.
Yuan Beichen furiously rebuked Mo Xiao for daring to barge into the Demon Suppression Palace for a woman and questioned his reasons for trying to save her. Mo Xiao refused to speak the truth and was whipped by Yuan Beichen, who accused him of forgetting the Immortal Lord’s dying wish for the sake of Wu Chen. But no matter what, Mo Xiao refused to admit his true feelings.
Yuan Beichen revealed that Wu Chen was actually Feng Lixue, and that Mo Xiao only helped her because of this. He angrily reminded Mo Xiao of Fengyue’s death. Chong Guang summoned the white fox Xue’er, now in human form, and showed her a strand of divine consciousness through a mirror. Xue’er was to become the vessel for this divine consciousness.
After transferring it into her body, Chong Guang placed the Phoenix Mask on her with satisfaction and helped her push her cultivation to its peak. He then announced to the world that she would appear at the Ice Lake of Ten Thousand Islands and reveal the secret vault. Yuan Beichen, thinking he had wrongly accused Mo Xiao, came to the Sword Pavilion to apologize.
He suspected someone else was manipulating things behind the scenes and feared the catastrophe foretold by the Sword Sovereign. He asked Mo Xiao to investigate—if the masked woman truly was Feng Lixue and would bring disaster to the mortal realm, Mo Xiao must show no mercy and kill her. Mo Xiao agreed. Believing he had also wronged Wu Chen, Yuan Beichen asked Mo Xiao to bring her out.
Mo Xiao was heartbroken upon seeing her but noticed she wasn’t injured and assumed the sash he gave her had protected her. Wu Chen, however, told Yuan Beichen that a masked man had broken in and tried to take her away, but she refused to leave because she believed Mo Xiao would come for her. Mo Xiao brought the weakened Wu Chen back and asked Zi Su to care for her.
Wu Chen guessed that Zi Su liked Mo Xiao because that’s what people do in the storybooks she read. Zi Su didn’t like her, likely because she liked Mo Xiao. Wu Chen told Zi Su that Mo Xiao probably knew everything but hadn’t given her a chance to speak, just to avoid mutual embarrassment. Based on what she read, she believed Mo Xiao actually liked her. This made Zi Su angry, and she stormed out.
Wu Chen, feeling weak, lay down without drinking the medicine Zi Su brought. A great battle broke out between the asura clan and the immortal sects. The Heavenly Demon Token was split into three stones and fell to the base of Mount Buzhou. One was passed to Chong Guang by Ye Yuan, but the other two were still missing. It was speculated that they might be hidden in the secret vault.
Ji Xingluo volunteered to help find them, but Chong Guang ordered the protector Changming to retrieve them from the Ice Lake of Ten Thousand Islands. Ji Xingluo objected, claiming Changming was not of their clan and shouldn't be trusted. Chong Guang was displeased with her comment, as he himself was not of the asura clan either. Xuyuan Wushuang, once Ye Yuan’s wife, stepped forward to explain on his behalf.
Though Chong Guang praised Wushuang, he could tell she rarely attended such meetings due to dissatisfaction with him taking the position of Lord. Chong Guang had always tasked Changming with monitoring the other clan leaders. When he discovered Ji Xingluo had started to act, he didn’t stop her, as he too wanted to find the three sacred stones. As long as she didn’t create trouble, he didn’t mind her actions.
Of the three stones, one was already in Chong Guang’s possession, and he knew that the other leaders had long coveted it. Now that the other two were potentially located, everyone naturally wanted them. The young master of the Wind Whisper Sect was originally supposed to accompany Mo Xiao by order of Murong Changfeng, but he refused to go. Murong Jing, however, was eager to follow, and the young master gave the opportunity to his younger sister.
Murong Jing excitedly came to find Mo Xiao but ran into Wu Chen. Wu Chen sensed Murong Jing liked Mo Xiao and reminded her once again that Mo Xiao liked her, not Murong Jing. Enraged, Murong Jing stormed off to confront Mo Xiao. Murong Jing found Wu Chen sitting in her former seat. Neither would back down, and just as Mo Xiao was caught in the middle, Xie Lingyun reminded Murong Jing of their main mission.
Murong Jing immediately asked Mo Xiao if he was taking her to the Ice Lake of Ten Thousand Islands. Wu Chen also wanted to go, firmly believing Mo Xiao would bring her along. Having heard no news from Shi Buji, Mo Xiao grew impatient and decided to set off immediately. Xie Lingyun wanted to come along, but Mo Xiao stopped him, asking him to stay and look after Wu Chen.
Xie Lingyun, displeased, suggested bringing Wu Chen or handing her over to Murong Jing instead. Just then, Murong Jing and Wu Chen entered, overhearing the conversation. Murong Jing blamed Xie Lingyun for causing her trouble. Wu Chen was also upset. This was the third time Mo Xiao was leaving her behind. According to the storybooks, “things don’t happen more than three times. ” Angrily, she decided to leave, believing Mo Xiao didn’t want her to stay.
But when she looked back from her room and didn’t see Mo Xiao coming after her, she was disappointed. According to the storybook logic, he should’ve chased after her.
