Let's go back in time to 2020 when Qi Ning, Lu Yanchen and Gui Xiao met again and sought the help of Qin Xiaonan regarding Gui Xiao's transfer. In the wooden restaurant where they met, Lu Yanchen sent Gui Xiao and Cai Yaya away and wrote a letter to Gui Xiao with a pen and paper at the restaurant's entrance. While writing the letter, Lu Yanchen fell into memories of their past together.

The scene then goes back to their high school days when Lu Yanchen, a senior, had already noticed Gui Xiao and actively found out her name through his sister Huang Ting. They first met on the school playground and were both impressed with each other, secretly starting to develop feelings. One day, when Gui Xiao was riding her bike home, she was surrounded and bullied by several male students. Lu Yanchen happened to see this on his way home from school and helped Gui Xiao out of the situation. After escorting Gui Xiao home, Lu Yanchen was surrounded by the same group of male students the next day.

The following day, Gui Xiao heard about the fight between high school students the night before and was worried about Lu Yanchen, so she rushed to the school. When she saw that Lu Yanchen was okay, she pretended to pass by him casually, but her worried expression was noticed by Lu Yanchen. During lunch, Lu Yanchen came to visit his sister, ostensibly to buy her something to drink, but actually wanting to spend more time with Gui Xiao and buy her favorite drink as well.
