Gui Bai drank heavily to protect Miss Shui at a gathering. Afterward, a grateful Miss Shui took the intoxicated Gui Bai back to her room, moved by his efforts to keep her safe. Ning Yuxuan informed Ji Man that news of her case had reached the capital with suspicious speed, indicating her opponents were well-prepared.

He explained they wanted her transferred to the Court of Judicial Review, but their true aim was likely to force a confession out of her before she ever reached the capital, fearing complications. Ji Man understood that being sent to the capital would be a death sentence and that remaining in Haifang under Ning Yuxuan's watch was her safest option. She expressed her gratitude, realizing he had been protecting her all along.

Later, Miss Shui provided Ning Yuxuan with a critical clue. Reconsidering Lianxiang's murder, she realized that while all evidence pointed to Ji Man, the smell in the room was wrong. She hadn't detected Ji Man's signature rouge scent but rather an unfamiliar mix of fish and mildew—a smell she later identified on the Dragon Gang boatmen at the dock. This convinced her that Ji Man had not been in Lianxiang's room.

Separately, Ning Yuxuan's men confirmed that a minion of Shen Liancheng named Qiang confessed to stealing the jade pendant on his orders, suggesting the framing was a plot aimed at Ning Yuxuan. To lure out the real killer, Ning Yuxuan spread a rumor that Miss Shui had seen the murderer's face and was about to identify them. Gui Bai immediately volunteered to guard Miss Shui at Shuiyan House, pledging his life for her safety.

That night, Shen Liancheng and his men approached Shuiyan House, but retreated upon seeing the heavy presence of Gui Bai and other officers. Shen Liancheng's unseen superiors were displeased with his failure, warning him that he would face dire consequences if he failed again. Ning Yuxuan then removed Ji Man from her cell, telling her the prison was no longer safe and that she must hide and not emerge no matter what.

Seeing his initial plan foiled, Shen Liancheng launched a desperate, all-out assault on the magistrate's residence. Ning Yuxuan, anticipating this, was waiting with his men. He confronted Shen Liancheng, stating he knew Shen Liancheng was a pawn and urging him to reveal his master. Shen Liancheng refused and attacked, declaring he wouldn't leave alive. In the ensuing fight, Ji Man, fearing for Ning Yuxuan's safety, disobeyed his orders and ran out to be with him.

When Shen Liancheng moved to strike her, Ning Yuxuan threw himself in front of her, taking the blow and sustaining a severe injury. Before Shen Liancheng could finish them off, Yuan Lang arrived, killed him, and rescued the pair. The next morning, Ning Yuxuan awoke and anxiously asked for Ji Man. Gui Bai reassured him she was making medicine for him but had mentioned leaving for Ship Guihai once he was stable.

When Ji Man arrived with the medicine, Ning Yuxuan pretended to be in agony, clutching his heart to prevent her from leaving. Ji Man, initially concerned, quickly saw through his act. She stated firmly that she was Ji Man, not his wife Nie Sangyu, and now that she knew her home, she had to return. Ning Yuxuan insisted he never saw her as just Nie Sangyu, but she was resolute about finding her own family.

Elsewhere, with Shen Liancheng dead, Yuan Lang declared to his followers that it was time to restore the Tea Gang. He planned to purge members who had willingly committed evil with Shen Liancheng while offering a chance at redemption to those who were coerced, establishing a new code focused on justice and helping the weak. Ji Man and Muxu arrived at the dock and were awestruck by the massive Ship Guihai.

A woman named Sang Shen ecstatically greeted Ji Man as her "miss," embracing her. Ji Man, still with amnesia, did not recognize her. Sang Shen insisted she was certain, identifying Ji Man by her unique and unforgettable custom cream scent. Sang Shen confirmed that Ji Man was the only daughter of the famous Ji Ming, known as the Guihai Warrior. Sang Shen then gave Ji Man a tour, revealing her astonishing wealth.

She showed Ji Man a lavish room, chests of expensive fabrics, cabinets of jewels, and shelves of rare medical texts. She presented ledgers detailing Ji Man's vast holdings of properties, shops, and ranches, and a drinking cup carved from a single piece of white jade, noting there were several more in storage. Ji Man was stunned but still couldn't remember her past.

Sang Shen also showed her detailed records of face cream formulas that Ji Man had spent years developing to protect the ship's crew from the harsh elements, prompting Ji Man to realize she must have known how to create them. When Sang Shen asked if Ji Man had found the man she ran away to the capital to find, Ji Man was surprised to learn of this "heart's desire."

Hearing that she fell for someone after just a fleeting glimpse at the dock, Ji Man wryly commented on her past self's shallowness. She then asked about her father, Ji Ming. Sang Shen explained he had gone to the capital to find her after she left and hadn't been heard from since, but assured her he was resourceful and had instructed them to wait for him in Haifang.

Unexpectedly, Ning Yuxuan arrived with his men, declaring that Ship Guihai was old and required immediate mandatory repairs for safety. He ordered everyone to disembark and relocate to the magistrate's residence. Ji Man refused, stating they had the funds for their own repairs and would rather camp on the dock with nets and canvas. After Ji Man introduced him as the magistrate, Sang Shen added that he was also "Miss Ji's husband," surprising the crew.

Playing along with his own ruse, Ning Yuxuan then ordered Gui Bai to supervise the "repair" of their nets and canvas, pointedly instructing that nothing from the ship was to be removed.
