Romance of a Twin Flower Episode 22 Recap
> Romance of a Twin Flower Recap
Upon learning that pirates were attempting to rob the Tael Ship, Ning Yuxuan immediately went to the deck. Confronting the masked attackers, he demanded to know who had sent them. As Ning Yuxuan and his men engaged the intruders in a fierce fight, Wang Jinyao ordered his men to bring the chests of taels to the deck, offering them to the pirates.
Sensing the ruse was over, Ning Yuxuan declared there was no need for further pretense and called out Yuan Lang's name. Yuan Lang removed his mask, confirming his identity. Wang Jinyao revealed his true intentions, stating that Ning Yuxuan was never meant to leave the ship alive and ordering Yuan Lang to kill him.
He then explained his plan to cover up the crime: he had recruited villagers under the guise of hiring workers, intending to have them killed, dressed as pirates, and used as scapegoats. Ning Yuxuan would be posthumously hailed as a hero who died protecting the taels. At Ning Yuxuan's signal, Yuan Lang drew his sword but turned on Wang Jinyao, stunning him.
Ning Yuxuan revealed his own counter-plan: the chests on deck contained only stones, as the real taels were already safely on their way to the capital. A flashback shows Ning Yuxuan visiting Yuan Lang before the voyage. He brought up the stolen tael cases of the past and the fate of the men from Liu's Village, revealing they were innocent laborers used by Wang Jinyao as scapegoats.
Ning questioned why Yuan Lang would serve such a man, arguing that the killings in Haifang would only stop if Wang was removed. Yuan Lang confirmed that Wang had proposed a deal for him to stage the robbery, after which Wang's men would kill the innocent villagers. Yuan Lang would then be forced to dress the bodies as pirates, fully implicating him and binding him to Wang's service.
Disgusted by the plan to murder civilians, Yuan Lang agreed to join forces with Ning Yuxuan. Back in the present, after Wang Jinyao is apprehended, Ning Yuxuan reveals that the villagers Wang planned to use were replaced by his own men as a precaution. Yuan Lang remarks that Ning Yuxuan must have trusted him, to which Ning replies that Yuan Lang's feigned attacks during their fight also seemed dangerously real.
Suddenly, Wang Jinyao broke free, grabbed a fire starter, and threatened to detonate explosives hidden in the chests. Ji Man arrived on deck, shouting a warning about the "fierce fire medicine." As she tried to snatch the fire starter, Wang pushed her overboard. Ning Yuxuan screamed her name and leaped into the sea after her. Wang threw the fire starter, but Yuan Lang lunged and caught it just in time.
As Ji Man sank into the water, a flood of lost memories returned. She recalls arriving in the capital six months earlier, excited to open a shop and finally meet her secret love. In a dress shop, she admires a gown made of rare Linglong Silk. The owner tells her it's one of only two in the city; the other was ordered by the First Lady of the Marquis Moyu's Mansion.
Ji Man learns the Marquis, Ning Yuxuan, is marrying a second wife that very day, and his jealous First Lady intends to wear white to the wedding in protest. Devastated, Ji Man gets drunk, reaffirming her principle that her husband must love only her. She resolves to confess her feelings to Ning Yuxuan, even if they can't be together. Arriving at the Marquis's mansion, Ji Man is stunned to see a woman who looks exactly like her—Nie Sangyu—fleeing the estate.
She chases the woman to a cliff, calling her name, but watches in horror as Nie Sangyu jumps. Ji Man then leaps in after her. In the present, Yuan Lang is relieved to hear Ji Man is safe. His men, Zhao Long and Zhao Hu, curse Ning Yuxuan for endangering her and suggest they "rescue" her, fearing she is falling for her enemy. Lying unconscious, Ji Man is tended to by a guilt-ridden Ning Yuxuan.
He holds her hand, confessing he was wrong to put her in danger and begging her to wake up. When Ji Man finally awakens, she asks for noodles cooked by Ning Yuxuan himself. He eagerly agrees. While he clumsily prepares the meal, Sang Shen worries her mistress’s brain was damaged in the fall. She describes Ji Man’s ideal man as handsome, ambitious, and, most importantly, modest—a quality she insists Ning Yuxuan lacks.
Ning Yuxuan brings the noodles, and after he leaves, Ji Man declares them delicious, much to Sang Shen's dismay. Ji Man then sits her maid down and reveals, "It's me. I am your Miss Ji. I am Ji Man." To prove it, she recounts their shared history, from saving Sang Shen as a child to their mutual love for simple pleasures. Overjoyed, Sang Shen realizes her mistress's memory has returned.
Later, Yuan Lang gazes at the stars, wondering aloud if "she and he" ever watched them together. Elsewhere, Ning Yuxuan reflects on Sang Shen's description of Ji Man's ideal man and teases his guard, Gui Bai, for becoming more talkative lately. Ji Man tells Sang Shen she has found her heart's desire, but hints that there is a complication.
