Romance of a Twin Flower Episode 29 Recap
> Romance of a Twin Flower Recap
Gui Bai informed Ning Yuxuan that Ji Man was missing. He explained that when he went to remind her and Muxu that it was time for the wedding, he found the door locked. After knocking with no response, he broke in out of concern for her safety and found the room empty. He searched the entire residence but could not find them. Based on the servants' accounts, it seemed Ji Man had left voluntarily.
Ning Yuxuan was greatly alarmed and rushed to the Ship Guihai. There, he encountered Sang Shen, who revealed that Ji Man had drugged Guihai Warrior so she could leave the ship to marry Ning Yuxuan, and she was not currently on board. Distraught, Ning Yuxuan did not know where Ji Man could have gone. Gui Bai suggested that given Ji Man's helpful nature, she might have gone to assist a friend in need.
Considering this possibility, Ning Yuxuan hurried to check with Qin Yixian, but Ji Man was not there. Qin Yixian was at the post, proposing to Qian Lianxue and asking her to marry him so she would not have to travel to the post every day. After checking with Qin Yixian, and confirming that Tao Siwei and Qingyun also had not seen her, Ning Yuxuan searched fruitlessly all night.
He wondered where else in the small town Ji Man could be if she was not on the ship, at her shop, or with her friends. He decided there was one more place to check. Meanwhile, Yuan Lang was waiting early in the morning, expecting someone certain to arrive. He revealed he had gone to Ship Guihai the previous day to see Guihai Warrior, only to discover that Guihai Warrior had been drugged by Sang Shen.
He then left to look for Ji Man. Ning Yuxuan eventually found Yuan Lang and urgently asked about Ji Man's whereabouts. Muxu then appeared and told Ning Yuxuan that Ji Man had returned to Ship Guihai. She delivered a message from Ji Man, stating that she chose her father over Ning Yuxuan, suggesting their relationship was over.
Devastated by this message, Ning Yuxuan ordered Gui Bai to leave with him and instructed his men to escort Muxu back to Ship Guihai. Back on Ship Guihai, Guihai Warrior spoke with Ji Man. He explained that he had kept the truth from her previously to protect her from the pain of hatred but also did not want her to forget the tragic deaths of the Tea Gang members.
He emphasized how horribly her father, Yuan Lang's father, and the other innocent people in the gang had died, insisting she should not forget them. Ji Man expressed understanding for his previous actions and admitted she had been too willful. Now comprehending his anxiety, she agreed to his plan to leave Haifang soon. The emotional turmoil affected both Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan. On the ship, Ji Man was unable to eat, causing Muxu and Sang Shen concern.
Ning Yuxuan also had no appetite and was urged by Gui Bai to eat something, but he was too preoccupied. He had a dream where he was marrying Ji Man, seeing her dressed beautifully, and she asked him to promise they would never leave each other. In the dream, he happily agreed, only to wake up and find it was not real. Yuan Lang visited Ji Man on the ship.
Ji Man asked him directly if he still held onto his hatred and intended to seek revenge against Ning Yuxuan. Yuan Lang admitted that before reuniting with her, his sole focus was revenge, and he saw his future ending in mutual destruction with those who harmed the Tea Gang. However, meeting her again had changed him, and he now desired to live.
He offered to let go of all hatred and live a good life with her and Guihai Warrior if she would leave with him. Ji Man reiterated that she had already agreed to leave Haifang with her father and expressed hope that Yuan Lang would remember his words. Yuan Lang promised to find a beautiful place for them to forget the past and start anew.
Soon after, Sang Shen rushed to inform Ji Man of a serious problem: a recent shipment of safflowers had been completely waterlogged due to the crew's negligence. With the Imperial Supplier Contest rapidly approaching, there was no time to order more, and their current stock was insufficient to produce enough Feiwan Face Cream. Ji Man immediately consulted her medical books to find a substitute. Miss Shui arrived and was also distressed upon hearing the news.
Ji Man considered alternatives like Pseudo-ginseng, rhizome of Chuanxiong, and myrrh, noting they had similar blood-circulating properties and would yield white powder when prepared. Although the smell differed, she was confident she could handle the fragrance. However, given the time constraints, the only option was to go to the mountain to collect the herbs. Miss Shui offered to search the market for safflowers, while Ji Man prepared to go to the mountain despite the impending rain.
Miss Shui went to the market and noticed Gui Bai following her. He explained that Ning Yuxuan, worried about Ji Man, had instructed him to keep an eye on her. Miss Shui then informed Gui Bai about Ji Man's predicament with the waterlogged safflowers and her intention to climb the mountain to find substitute herbs. Gui Bai returned and reported this to Ning Yuxuan, who was surprised Ji Man would venture onto the mountain alone.
Elsewhere, Qingyun suggested to Tao Siwei that they try a new restaurant. Muxu suddenly arrived in a panic, explaining that Ji Man had gone up the mountain alone to collect herbs, and Ning Yuxuan was not at the county residence. Worried about Ji Man's safety in the rain, Tao Siwei immediately set off for the mountain, with Qingyun accompanying him. On the mountain, they asked for directions at a tea shed.
The men there harassed Qingyun, leading to a fight with Tao Siwei. Tao Siwei was injured while protecting Qingyun, who insisted they return so she could treat his wounds. Alone on the mountain in the heavy rain, Ji Man fell. As she lay there, she had a vivid flashback to a conversation with Yuan Lang.
He had revealed her true identity: she was the daughter of Cai Wenzheng, the Chief of the Tea Gang, and he was the son of Yuan Dingshan, the Second Chief. He explained that eighteen years ago, Cai Wenzheng, her biological father, had been killed by the Ning family's pursuit, while Ning Zhongtian was killed by Cai Wenzheng. Cai Wenzheng had entrusted his twin daughters, Ji Man and Nie Sangyu, to Ji Ming, who was her foster father.
Because Ji Ming could not raise both, he gave Nie Sangyu to Nie Xiangyuan. Yuan Lang explained that her jade pendant was a gift he gave her as a child. Ji Man, finding this hard to believe, insisted she would not believe a word and wanted to find Ning Yuxuan, saying their relationship was strong and nothing could break them apart.
Yuan Lang warned her that she could deceive herself, but if Ning Yuxuan learned she was the daughter of his father's killer, he might not feel the same way. The narrative then reveals Ning Yuxuan had witnessed his own father's death by Cai Wenzheng's hand at the age of five, and this deep-seated hatred had tormented him ever since, causing him restless nights filled with nightmares.
