This year, the New Year's Eve dinner at Xiang Yuan's house consisted of fried chicken and beer. Xiang Yuan took a picture and sent it to Xu Yanshi. At that moment, an unexpected guest arrived at Xu Yanshi's house – his long-lost father. He gave Xu Yanshi a bank card and said that Xu Chengli's mother missed him and wanted to take him back. Xu Yanshi couldn't keep Xu Chengli with him, so he helped him pack his belongings. Xu Chengli was saddened by this and asked Xu Yanshi a heartbreaking question, wondering if he was a burden to him. Xu Yanshi patiently explained to his younger brother that he was a gift from heaven and never a burden. Xu Chengli, understanding and mature for his age, said that as long as Xiang Yuan could bring happiness to Xu Yanshi, she would be enough.

Xu Chengli left with their father, constantly turning his head to look back three times. Xu Yanshi watched his brother's receding figure and shed tears for the first time. Worried, Xiang Yuan was approached by Feng Jun, who took her to look for Xu Yanshi outside the city.

When Xiang Yuan saw Xu Yanshi drinking at the bar, she was annoyed that his phone was off. Xu Yanshi's mood also worsened when he saw her and Feng Jun appearing there. Xiang Jiamian happened to be at the same bar and got into a conflict with someone. Xiang Yuan wanted to step in, but she was pushed aside. Xu Yanshi protected Xiang Yuan, but his arm was cut by a glass bottle. Xiang Yuan treated his wound in a private room, and Xu Yanshi told her about his father and taking Xu Chengli away. It was then that Xiang Yuan learned the reason behind his bad mood. Xiang Jiamian searched for his sister in the bar, and Lin Kairui, being a good friend, persuaded Xiang Jiamian to leave, allowing Xiang Yuan and Xu Yanshi to be alone. It was during this special time of the new year that Xiang Yuan and Xu Yanshi agreed to get their marriage certificate on May 30th.

Xu Yanshi earnestly marked the date on the calendar as if it were the college entrance exam, although he admitted that he wasn't as nervous during his exams. Lao Qing and the others were playing cards in the living room of Xu Yanshi's house. Lao Qing quietly told the others that Xu Yanshi's mother was a renowned architect abroad and had won the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the highest international award in the field of architecture. That night, Xu Yanshi asked Xiang Yuan to turn off her phone and get a good night's sleep. The next day, when Xiang Yuan turned her phone on, she received many messages from Xu Yanshi. After reading them, she realized that she had actually known Xu Yanshi since kindergarten. Xiang Jiamian secretly followed Xiang Yuan and witnessed her kissing Xu Yanshi in public, so he immediately took a photo.

Xiang Jiamian returned and showed the picture to their grandfather. Sutu felt it was not acceptable and that he needed to intervene. Xiang Jiamian volunteered to take on the responsibility of separating Xiang Yuan and Xu Yanshi. When he told their grandfather about his plan, their grandfather was speechless. Xiang Jiamian didn't even know that Xu Yanshi was Dang.
