Prince Qi tried to persuade Consort Xian to reconsider, but his cowardly hesitation only disappointed her further. She even stated that Prince Qi was no match for Yu Qi. After leaving, Prince Qi feared that he would be eliminated from the competition for the throne and once again considered exposing Jiang Shi’s identity as the Holy Maiden.

Once the Grand Princess had made all her preparations, she went to see the Emperor. Just as they were conversing warmly, Prince Qi suddenly requested an audience. Back in the hall, Yu Qi was doing everything he could to protect Jiang Shi.

However, fearing that Yu Qi would also be implicated, Jiang Shi took the initiative to confess that she was indeed the Holy Maiden and even severed ties with Yu Qi. At that moment, news arrived that Nanwu had mobilized its troops at the border, demanding that Great Zhou hand over the Holy Maiden. Jiang Shi was imprisoned in the imperial dungeon.

The Emperor told Yu Qi that since Nanwu had confirmed Jiang Shi’s identity as the Holy Maiden, it would be nearly impossible for the two of them to ever be together again.
