> Si Jin Recap

Lord Changxing led his troops into the palace and held the Emperor hostage. Meanwhile, the Princess Royal grew even more ambitious, planning to announce at the next morning’s court session that she would assume the power of regency. Jiang Shi was rescued from Tianwang by Du Er. Upon waking, she saw Jiang Zhan, Lu Chuchu, and A’Man. Yu Qi, upon learning that Jiang Shi had been saved, hurried to see her.

After their reunion, Yu Qi hoped the Emperor would severely punish the Princess Royal. However, Jiang Shi, wanting to prevent a war between the two nations, decided to go to Nanwu to seek out the Grand Elder. The Princess Royal was furious upon hearing that Jiang Shi had escaped and killed the guards responsible. She then issued a nationwide decree ordering Jiang Shi’s capture.

A’Man, upon learning that Jiang Shi was heading to Nanwu, wanted to accompany her, but Jiang Shi, fearing she might never return, refused to let A’Man take the risk and asked her to stay at home. Since Yu Qi was unable to leave at the moment, he asked Jiang Zhan and the others who would be willing to go with Jiang Shi. Both Jiang Zhan and Lu Chuchu volunteered.

The next morning at court, the Princess Royal led her troops into the hall, declaring that the Emperor was unwell and that she would assume regency. The ministers voiced their objections, and both the Crown Prince and Zhen Hang questioned her. Although Prince Qi also found the situation suspicious, he chose to protect himself and did not dare to speak out. Jiang Zhan insisted on seeing an imperial edict, but Lord Changxing, using force as intimidation, personally acknowledged the decree.

At this moment, Xi Wang also stepped forward in support of the Princess Royal. Seeing that Yu Qi had not appeared, the Princess Royal used the excuse that he had fled with Jiang Shi to order a nationwide manhunt for him. At that moment, Prince Yan unexpectedly arrived at the hall. Lord Changxing saw an opportunity to kill Yu Qi, but the Princess Royal stopped him.

After the court session, Princess Fuqing used a ruse to lure Zhen Hang over and revealed to him the Princess Royal’s plans for rebellion. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince and Prince Qi went to visit the Emperor, only to find that he was surrounded by Jifeng Guards and were denied access. The Crown Prince tried to persuade Prince Qi to join him in opposing the Princess Royal, but Prince Qi stubbornly refused.

At that moment, the Crown Prince realized that Prince Qi had fully sided with the Princess Royal. The Princess Royal also learned of the Crown Prince’s attempt to persuade Prince Qi, but she was confident that Prince Qi, valuing self-preservation, would not take the risk. However, she saw the Crown Prince as a threat and invited him to dine with her the next day.

To cover for Jiang Shi’s journey to the southern border, Jiang Zhan and Du Er created distractions by repeatedly breaking through checkpoints, while Lu Chuchu led Jiang Shi along a hidden path. Yu Qi and Johan devised strategies to deal with the Princess Royal, recognizing that only Cui Xu could be of assistance at the moment. Meanwhile, the Princess Royal, upon learning of Jiang Shi’s departure, deduced that she must be heading to the southern border.

She realized that if Jiang Shi reached Nanwu, Yu Qi would be able to mobilize the Chiyu Cavalry, and Cui Xu would likely support her. Furthermore, Jiang Shi, as the Saintess, could command Nanwu’s troops. To counter this, she planned to falsify an imperial decree, pitting Cui Xu and the Chiyu Cavalry against Nanwu. Yu Qi, along with Long Dan, hurried toward the southern border.

Meanwhile, the Crown Prince began his preparations, sending the Crown Princess and their child back to her family for safety. He also carefully selected a group of elite warriors, planning to assassinate the Princess Royal during their meal. However, the assassination attempt failed, and the Princess Royal killed the Crown Prince. The Emperor was shocked upon hearing the news. The Princess Royal, knowing that ministers were planning to impeach her, canceled the morning court session.

She then enlisted Prince Qi’s help in stabilizing the court officials and informed him that the Crown Prince had been executed for treason, intending to intimidate him. In order to secure the Princess Royal’s support and avoid the Crown Prince’s fate, Prince Qi agreed to help pacify the ministers. Yu Qi arrived at the southern border just in time to meet Jiang Shi and informed her of the Princess Royal’s actions.

Meanwhile, Zhen Hang sought an audience with Prince Qi, hoping to persuade him to help rescue the Emperor. Lord Changxing advised the Princess Royal to proclaim herself Empress. Realizing she could not afford to remain passive any longer, she began to consider the idea. She then approached the Emperor, demanding that he issue an edict of abdication in her favor. Jiang Shi was eager to reach Nanwu as soon as possible.

With the border under threat, Cui Xu could not abandon his post to rescue the Emperor. Only if Nanwu withdrew its troops would Cui Xu be able to lead his army elsewhere. Jiang Zhan also arrived at the southern border, but he was severely injured. Before succumbing to his wounds, he informed Jiang Shi that Du Er and A’Man had been killed.
