President Zhang listened intently as Liang Daiwen enthusiastically introduced his design concepts and layouts. She felt conflicted and told Liang that if he ever wanted to return, he would always be welcome. Before Liang could respond, Gu Yi arrived with Yu Dule, deliberately calling Liang "darling" in an overly affectionate tone to provoke jealousy. She acted as though she was extremely happy.

President Zhang remarked that Liang hadn’t worked so hard when he was by her side and blamed Gu Yi for pushing Liang so much, saying it made her feel distressed for him. Gu Yi firmly stated that Liang Daiwen was her boyfriend now and that it had nothing to do with President Zhang. Later, Gu Yi, Yu Dule, and Liang Daiwen were sitting in a car together.

Gu Yi suddenly changed her tone, joking that earning money from President Zhang wasn’t a bad idea since money is tempting. Yu Dule, tired of their public displays of affection, felt he couldn’t endure their lovey-dovey behavior anymore. When Liang Daiwen brought Gu Yi home, they were shocked to see his uncle holding a box of ashes. Gu Yi’s expression froze instantly, unable to process what she was seeing.

The uncle explained that Gu Yi’s mother had been unwell from the beginning of her trip. She had pushed herself to continue traveling, wanting to distance herself from her daughter before quietly passing away. Gu Yi understood that her mother did this to lighten her emotional burden and reduce her stress. Sitting on her bed, Gu Yi looked through their past chat history and couldn’t help but break down crying.

Liang Daiwen was deeply distressed for Gu Yi, but he knew that this was something she had to overcome on her own. Holding her mother’s ashes tightly, Gu Yi wept bitterly, expressing her desire to bring her mother back. She couldn’t accept that all she had left was this cold box of ashes. Eventually, Gu Yi decided to scatter her mother’s ashes into the sea, allowing her mother to live freely in another world.

While sorting through her mother’s belongings, Gu Yi found her mother’s phone. She discovered that after her mother’s condition worsened, she had blocked Gu Yi to avoid troubling her and had only sent occasional text messages. Meanwhile, Guan Xingxin threw herself into work, determined to escape her family’s control. Despite her dislike for being around the other male participants, she had to endure physical contact with them while filming the show.

Yu Dule, unaware of this, was editing videos of Guan Xingxin. He overheard colleagues gossiping about her, which upset him deeply. He firmly told them to show some kindness and stop speaking ill of her. Gu Yi informed her boss that she wanted to resign. Zhang Junjie, overhearing this, suspected that Gu Yi was dealing with something significant.

He told the team to go easy on her and temporarily take over her responsibilities until Gu Yi returned to make a final decision. Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen returned to his home, but she felt uneasy. She told Liang’s father that her mother had recently passed away. Liang’s father, understanding her pain, tried to lighten the atmosphere and comfort her. Gu Yi began to feel a sense of family again and asked Liang to tell her stories about his mother.

With a smile, Liang described how his mother had a cheerful personality, was talented at painting, and had great hands-on skills. He fondly remembered how she used to build games for him to play at the beach. However, she rarely left the house and spent most of her time sitting by the window. Liang shared that although his mother’s passing had been difficult, it made him grow up and gave him the courage to face anything.

Touched by his words, Gu Yi couldn’t hold back her tears. She asked Liang to take her to visit his mother’s grave. At the grave, Gu Yi told Liang’s mother that Liang had been doing well. She even played videos of her own mother, hoping that the two mothers could “meet” in another world and keep each other company. Gu Yi then accompanied Liang to the hallway where he often had nightmares.

Liang revealed that it was where his mother had passed away, and the memory had haunted him ever since. Gu Yi comforted him, telling him to cherish life and remember that he was loved. Gradually, Liang seemed to begin letting go of his pain.
