Fu Yunshen felt that so far, his brother didn't seem to have any special feelings for Gu Ruanruan. He didn't want his brother to use Gu Ruanruan, but Fu Xizhou said Fu Yunshen was overthinking things. Soon, their grandfather arrived since the two families were now related by marriage. Fu Yunshen was somewhat angry and left abruptly.

Fu Yunshen thought about the scenes of him and his brother together. They had always been a great team, but today it felt like something had changed. Fu Xizhou told their grandfather that his younger brother had some urgent matters to attend to and left. Although their grandfather didn't show anger openly, he pulled Fu Xizhou aside and questioned him intensely about where Fu Yunshen had gone.

Fu Yunshen was heartbroken due to his brother's actions. He wasn't in the right frame of mind while driving, and Fu Xizhou's mother was walking on the road, holding her clothes. She suddenly attempted to cross the road and was nearly hit by a truck. The truck collided with Fu Yunshen's car, causing it to rotate 180 degrees, and the truck also hit Fu Xizhou's mother. Fu Yunshen lost control of his car, which ended up crashing nearby, with steel bars embedded throughout. He fainted on the spot.

Fu Xizhou received a call about his mother's accident and rushed to the hospital. Fu Yunshen was also at the hospital, undergoing emergency treatment because a steel bar had been inserted into his body, putting his life in grave danger. Doctors were doing everything they could to save him.

At night, Zhu Jiu had been waiting for a call from Fu Yunshen, but she received no response to her messages. She felt a growing sense of unease since she had never experienced such a late-night communication gap with him. She checked flight tickets to return to Shanghai, but they were unexpectedly expensive, causing her to hesitate. Suddenly, she felt like Fu Yunshen was right in front of her, even about to kiss her. But it turned out to be a dream, and Zhu Jiu woke up realizing it was all in her head.

Zhu Jiu finally managed to get through to Fu Yunshen when she called him again. However, this time, someone else answered – it was Zhou Zhizhi. Zhou Zhizhi informed Zhu Jiu that it was too late to talk and hung up, holding back tears. This left Zhu Jiu completely devastated. She thought that Zhou Zhizhi and Fu Yunshen were now together, so her work and focus suffered. She tried to send messages to Fu Yunshen but received no response.

Two years passed, and Zhu Jiu was still in Saint Petersburg. She was still working on developing Peidu, but it wasn't as easy as she had imagined. A good friend offered her a part-time job as a family doctor, as six other doctors had offended the patient and were unable to continue. At her friend's plea, Zhu Jiu accepted the job and went to work as a family doctor.

Linda, the patient she was attending to, was warm and welcoming. However, Linda didn't allow any noise in her house. She showed Zhu Jiu around briefly and then led her to the room. Zhu Jiu greeted her, but when she saw Fu Yunshen in a wheelchair, she was taken aback. Zhu Jiu wanted to ask many questions, but Fu Yunshen's emotional outburst drove her away.

Fu Yunshen had undergone surgery and had lost sensation in his lower body. No matter how hard he tried or how much training he received, he couldn't move his lower limbs. His mother was devastated, and he felt like a useless person, struggling to regain his strength.
