> Scent of Time Recap

Hua Qian advised Wu Shuomo that if he genuinely liked Mu Yao, he should ask for her feelings. If Mu Yao had feelings for him as well, then no one could stop him from taking her away. Meanwhile, the Grand Princess sent a box of jewelry to Mu Yao, congratulating her on entering the Zhong family as a concubine. Mu Yao was puzzled by the Grand Princess's intentions.

After the senior palace maid left, Zhong Yelan questioned Hua Qian about her visit to the Zhong Manor the previous day, which led to the Grand Princess sending people to her house to take Mu Yao as a concubine. Hua Qian was confused because she had only followed his wishes, and she couldn't understand why he was angry. As Zhong Yelan showed no signs of calming down, Hua Qian asked him if he felt that Mu Yao's status was unjust, and if so, she was willing to give up her position as the principal wife.

After Zhong Yelan left, Mu Yao came to Hua Qian and asked if she believed that giving her the status of a concubine would allow her to suppress her more effectively in the future. Hua Qian was momentarily speechless and responded by asking which was easier to oppress: maids or young mistresses. Seeing that Mu Yao still didn't trust her goodwill, Hua Qian didn't want to argue any further. Back in her room, Hua Qian decided to look into the rituals and preparations for a grand wedding for Zhong Yelan and Mu Yao. However, her wet nurse informed her that concubines didn't have wedding ceremonies or wedding attire. Their sedan chair could only enter through the side door, and they had to serve tea to the principal wife upon entering. Nevertheless, a wedding banquet could still be held.

Hua Shen had given a palace maid to someone, but she refused and ultimately committed suicide by crashing into a pillar. Hua Shen was at a loss for what to do and went to the Zhong family to seek advice from Hua Qian. Upon hearing this, Hua Qian was furious, accusing Hua Shen of becoming audacious and reckless and forgetting his place. Hua Shen attempted to explain, but Hua Qian angrily summoned Hua Rongzhou and asked him to fetch Nan Feng for her. She tasked Nan Feng with returning to the Hua residence to inquire about the girls in Hua Shen's courtyard. If any of them wished to leave, Hua Qian would ensure their livelihoods for the rest of their lives.

Hua Shen couldn't sit still upon hearing this and believed Hua Qian was making a big deal out of nothing. Hua Qian was so angry that she almost shook with rage, gripping her own hand tightly to calm herself down. However, she couldn't bear to see Hua Shen disregard human lives in this way because she deeply understood how much suffering these people endured. Hua Shen remained indifferent, feeling wronged by his sister's scolding. Unable to tolerate her brother's attitude any longer, Hua Qian asked Nan Feng to take Hua Shen back home and deliver a message to their father, warning him about the consequences if he didn't discipline Hua Shen properly.

Zhong Yelan apologized to Mu Yao, confessing that Hua Qian had misunderstood his intentions, and he was unaware of the concubinage arrangement. Mu Yao didn't mind and even expressed her willingness to become his concubine. Zhong Yelan was overjoyed and tightly held Mu Yao's hand. While Hua Qian, who was taking a walk to clear her mind, witnessed the scene, she remained emotionally unaffected and turned her gaze elsewhere.

On the day of the grand wedding, when Hua Qian saw her joyful expression, Zhong Xiwu couldn't help but ask if she had completely forgotten about Zhong Yelan. Hua Qian felt a little uneasy, lowered her head, and said he was overthinking. Zhong Xiwu nodded slightly without revealing his thoughts. After all the elaborate rituals were over, Zhong Yelan, in front of Hua Qian, took Mu Yao back to their room. The banquet began, and Hua Qian was much happier than anyone else present. However, her happiness was short-lived as Hua Shen caused trouble shortly afterward.

Hua Shen was inebriated, and Hua Qian sent Cui Zhu to remind him not to cause a scene. Hua Shen waved off Cui Zhu and fell into a deep sleep. Much later, news came that Hua Shen had entered Mu Yao's room at some point. When Mu Yao arrived, she found Hua Shen unconscious on the floor. Mu Yao's clothes were disheveled, and she huddled in a corner of the bed, with only a female servant accompanying her.
