Scent of Time Episode 18 Recap
> Scent of Time Recap
At the funeral, Mrs. Hua broke down in tears, blaming Hua Qian for her brother's death. Hua Qian, disheveled and mentally scattered, allowed her mother's scolding without any response. She stared blankly at her now lifeless brother, unable to accept his departure. Hua Wenang ordered his staff to take his wife back to her room to rest, leaving only the two of them, father and daughter, in the mourning hall. Out of the corner of her eye, Hua Qian noticed her father slowly approaching, and she closed her eyes, expecting a reprimand. But instead, she received words of consolation.
Hua Wenang had been striving for power and authority to pave the way for Hua Shen. However, Hua Shen's departure made him suddenly realize how unfulfilling his position as the head of the family was. He told Hua Qian that he now understood how wrong he had been in the past. If Hua Qian wanted to leave the City of Splendors, a place filled with troubles, he would listen to her, and he would no longer be the family head. This surprised and delighted Hua Qian, and she burst into tears while hugging her father.
Hua Qian walked around aimlessly, as if she had caught a whiff of a familiar scent. She stopped and carefully sniffed the air, hearing Hua Shen calling her. Terrified, she tried to reach out and grasp her brother. But no matter how hard she tried, all she could hold was empty air. She stumbled forward, almost falling. Fortunately, Hua Rongzhou appeared in time to protect her. Perhaps due to crying, Hua Qian squatted down, sobbing heavily. Hua Rongzhou squatted down and gently patted her back, and Qian Zhi also crouched down, gently hugging Hua Qian.
On the day of Hua Shen's funeral, Hua Qian still couldn't accept her brother's departure and hid in her room. Unexpectedly, Zhong Yelan came at this time and said he wanted to take Hua Qian back to the Zhong estate to recuperate. Hua Qian was furious and declared that she had already sent a divorce letter to Zhong Xiwu. However, Zhong Yelan still refused to give up and tried to take her hand and leave. Hua Rongzhou arrived just in time and stood in front of Hua Qian. Enraged, Zhong Yelan pushed Hua Rongzhou aside. Seeing this, Hua Qian was even more angry and shouted at Zhong Yelan to get out.
After Zhong Yelan's disturbance, Hua Qian couldn't sleep and asked Qian Zhi to help her freshen up. When she arrived at Hua Shen's gravesite, it was already getting dark. Hua Qian gently brushed over Hua Shen's tombstone and poured three cups of wine for him. After sitting silently for a while, when she got up to leave, Zhong Xiwu was already waiting behind her. Seeing that Hua Qian had noticed him, Zhong Xiwu quickly approached and handed her the divorce letter. This time, Zhong Xiwu didn't retreat but openly expressed his hidden affection for Hua Qian.
Hua Qian was puzzled by Zhong Xiwu's change in attitude. However, she didn't expect that Zhong Xiwu would admit straightforwardly that he had always been interested in her. Hua Qian was shocked and, in hindsight, realized that Zhong Xiwu had always been different with her. But for Hua Qian, even though she held the divorce letter, she and Zhong Xiwu were not a suitable match.
Zhong Xiwu seemed unfazed by compatibility and simply wanted to tell Hua Qian that, if she agreed, he could have her stand by his side openly. Hearing these words, Hua Qian was swayed, but her rationality forced her to step back. Zhong Xiwu continued to smile and slowly stepped forward, extending his hand to Hua Qian. Hua Qian stared fixedly at that outstretched hand, unsure if she could grasp the hand he was offering her.
