Scent of Time Episode 30 (Ending) Recap
> Scent of Time Recap
Zhong Xiwu stood by Hua Qian's bedside, carefully wiping her. For the past twenty-six months, Hua Qian had been lying quietly in bed, with only the rise and fall of her chest indicating that she was alive. Zhong Xiwu had ordered an increase in the dosage of Jia Yin Dream-Returning Elixir, hoping for the day when Hua Qian would wake up. Even though outsiders couldn't understand why he was guarding someone who seemed like a living corpse, for Zhong Xiwu, Hua Qian was someone he had worked hard to find, and he was not willing to give up easily.
Two years ago, Hua Qian had escaped but was caught and witnessed her mother and brother dying in front of her. She felt deep sorrow and coughed up blood before falling unconscious. It was Zhong Xiwu who arrived in time to save her from the brink of death. To keep Hua Qian alive, Zhong Xiwu personally made many calming elixirs, burning them daily by her side. On this day, Hua Qian finally woke up. Zhong Xiwu couldn't contain his joy and hurried to check on her. However, Hua Qian was confused. Zhong Xiwu had just left, so why was he back by her side? And where was Hua Rongzhou, who had been with her every day?
Waking up, Hua Qian felt unbearable hunger and started eating heartily. But something felt amiss, and upon closer inspection, she noticed the familiar scent of incense in the room. Just as she was pondering the incense, Mu Yao walked in. Seeing Hua Qian enjoying herself, Mu Yao couldn't help but feel resentful, blaming Hua Qian for causing her father's death and still enjoying life here. Hua Qian was perplexed, as Mu Yunping was supposed to be alive and well, so why would Mu Yao say such things? But she learned from Mu Yao that Mu Yunping had indeed died, and everyone in the Hua family had perished.
Hua Qian nearly collapsed, unable to distinguish what was real and what was a dream. She held onto the last straw of hope, asking Zhong Yelan if he remembered Hua Rongzhou. However, Zhong Yelan withdrew his hand in disgust and bluntly stated that there was no one like that in the Zhong household. Hua Qian couldn't believe what she was hearing, but she couldn't find any evidence to prove that everything she remembered was real. The familiar scent wafted once again, and Hua Qian finally understood everything. She had merely had a dream, and nothing had changed.
She couldn't help but laugh at herself, but as she laughed, tears flowed uncontrollably. The idea of starting over, as Zhong Xiwu suggested, was a painful one for Hua Qian. Because of that dream, her loved ones died before her eyes three times, making it impossible for her to accept. If everything that had happened before was just a dream, then she'd rather never wake up. Saying this, Hua Qian coughed up blood and passed out in Zhong Xiwu's arms.
Hua Qian woke up from a nap on the swing and, upon seeing Hua Rongzhou, rushed to confirm his presence. Luckily, Hua Rongzhou was real. Hua Qian felt relieved and held onto Hua Rongzhou tightly. She kept reminding herself that the Hua Rongzhou in front of her was the reality. In this way, she continued to live a peaceful and carefree life with Hua Rongzhou. However, in the real world, Hua Qian remained unconscious, kept alive by the Jia Yin Dream-Returning Elixir. Zhong Xiwu believed that Hua Qian still harbored grievances against Mu Hua, so he asked Zhong Yelan and Mu Yao to persuade her. Unfortunately, this approach had no effect.
In reality, whether in the dream or in the real world, Zhong Xiwu admired Hua Qian. Hua Qian's apparent affection for Mu Yao, in her eyes, was just something he did to make her happy. Even the cloud brocade that Hua Xianzhong had bought and given to Hua Qian was orchestrated by Zhong Xiwu. Originally, he thought that fulfilling Hua Qian's wishes would be the best thing, but gradually, he realized that Hua Qian was losing herself. So this time, he was determined to hold onto Hua Qian and never let her leave.
In her dream, Hua Qian seemed to hear Zhong Xiwu's call. She also knew that there were things she had to face on her own, even though that world was filled with pain for her. Before leaving, Hua Qian said goodbye to Hua Rongzhou. Hua Rongzhou gazed gently at Hua Qian, saying that he had come for her. As Hua Rongzhou dissipated, the real Hua Qian gradually woke up and called out Zhong Xiwu's name.
