Dai Daji had been an intern on the program team for over a year, working tirelessly every day, often leaving home without even having breakfast. She didn’t notice anything unusual about Zhou Shui. During a meeting, Xiaolong suddenly exploded in frustration over unfair treatment, scolding everyone in the room before dramatically packing up and quitting the company. He even broke up with Director Wen on the spot.

Before leaving, Xiaolong returned the necklace that had gone missing before—it turned out he had stolen it to force Dai Daji to resign. Dai Daji was left speechless by the scene, and then unexpectedly got notified by Director Wen that she could prepare for her official promotion. She couldn't tell whether it was a blessing or a curse. Wang Jingshu returned the 10,000 yuan to Jingjing’s boyfriend, Li Dongting, and treated him to a meal.

During the meal, he held Wang Jingshu’s hand and confessed that he liked her. Wang Jingshu firmly rejected him. At that moment, Jingjing suddenly burst in and caused a huge scene. Zhou Shui pretended to be working every day, but in reality, he was frantically looking for a new job. On the subway, Dai Daji spotted Zhou Shui and discovered his lie. She furiously chased him all the way home. Zhou Shui instinctively hid under the bed.

At that moment, Dai Daji's anger faded—he must have felt completely humiliated not to dare face her. Dai Daji didn’t expose him and pretended she had just come back to pick up some documents. Zhou Shui didn’t dare tell Dai Daji the truth about Hun Xiang. He feared that if she found out, their life together would fall apart.

But then Zhou Shui said that the 50,000 yuan in savings was gone too. Dai Daji was so angry she almost threw him off the overpass. Still, she chose to endure it. Remembering that Senior Yiming had some connections, she thought maybe she could get Zhou Shui into the program team—maybe that could turn things around. Beijing was such a vast place; staying here was still worth it.

To get Senior Yiming’s help, Dai Daji humbled herself and brought Zhou Shui along to make a request. But Senior Yiming harshly criticized Zhou Shui’s creative abilities. Seeing Dai Daji serve tea and pour water for Senior Yiming shattered Zhou Shui’s self-esteem completely. Because of Jingjing’s rumors, Wang Jingshu’s student loan application was rejected. She had to come up with her tuition fees by the end of the month.

To do so, she approached a woman hoping to quickly earn the money, only to find out the job involved pretending to be a bride at weddings. When Gangling saw Wang Jingshu in a dress, she said it was provided by the place where she worked. Gangling was worried she’d be mistreated, but Wang Jingshu knew—it was only when you had no money that you got mistreated. She sat across from an elderly man with graying hair, looking uncomfortable.

Dai Daji called Senior Yiming to ask about the job for Zhou Shui. In truth, Zhou Shui instinctively didn’t want her to beg Senior Yiming—maybe it was just a matter of pride. Zhou Shui and Dai Daji brought a pile of gifts and went to the restaurant where Senior Yiming had made a reservation. He said he would introduce them to someone in leadership. But just as they reached the private room door, Senior Yiming’s expression suddenly changed.

He told Zhou Shui not to go in and asked Dai Daji to speak on his behalf instead. When Dai Daji came back out, her face was red—clearly, she’d been forced to drink a lot.
