In 2004, Su Zihao and Dong Leyi were watching a championship gaming match together. Su Zihao had passed the civil service exam and was about to secure a government job. He suggested they continue following Zhou Shui and Dai Daji’s story together, but Dong Leyi suddenly got upset and went home. A few days later, Dong Leyi specially invited a professional gamer to play against Su Zihao. Though Su Zihao lost, he admitted defeat graciously.

What he didn’t expect was that the obnoxious guy was foul-mouthed. Seeing Dong Leyi filming with him, Su Zihao realized she might be in danger. After filming, Dong Leyi made plans to hang out with the gamer, and when Su Zihao instinctively offered to go too, she turned him down. Zhou Shui went out to an internet café to send emails, while Dai Daji got a call from Senior Yiming and went to meet him.

Senior Yiming said there was news from the higher-ups and it was basically settled, but Dai Daji had to pay a little money—only 20,000 yuan. Dai Daji was a bit troubled, but in the end decided to use the living expenses her mom had sent to deal with it.

She originally wanted to gather the rest and give it to him the next day, but Senior Yiming said he’d be on a business trip and told her to bring the money to his home that night. Dai Daji, unsuspecting, agreed. Li Dongting heard about Wang Jingshu’s situation and offered 10,000 yuan to help pay her tuition. They argued over it. Zhou Shui didn’t want Dai Daji to go to Senior Yiming, nor to use her mother’s money to secure a job. But Dai Daji was determined, and even his threat to break up couldn’t stop her. Dai Daji brought 20,000 yuan to Senior Yiming’s home.

She planned to drop off the money and leave, but it was too late and didn’t seem appropriate. Senior Yiming said he had some work matters to discuss, so Dai Daji went inside. Meanwhile, Zhou Shui, feeling down, drank with Gangling. His phone had run out of battery and was left in the room charging. Inside the house, Dai Daji sat bored while Senior Yiming boasted endlessly. He insisted she drink with him.

Feeling awkward, she went to wash the dishes. Flushed from drinking, Senior Yiming suddenly picked up a guitar and started singing. Dong Leyi really wanted to take a photo with the gamer and post it on Weibo. She went with them to a bar and then to an internet café. Su Zihao, worried, kept asking her to send her location. After answering his call, Dong Leyi realized everyone else had left.

The gamer took advantage of the photo opportunity to kiss her, then lewdly said that small-time models like her were just there to be slept with. It was getting late, and sensing something was wrong, Dai Daji grabbed her bag and tried to leave. When Senior Yiming’s advances were rejected, he became vulgar and sarcastic, saying Zhou Shui couldn’t bring her happiness, that 20,000 yuan couldn’t buy her a secure job, and that Zhou Shui was a lost cause.

When she finally realized it had gone quiet outside, she carefully left. Senior Yiming had passed out drunk.

He woke up to Zhou Shui’s knocking and spotted the lipstick Dai Daji had dropped in her panic. So he pretended he had just showered and opened the door, deliberately placing Dai Daji’s lipstick on the bed to provoke Zhou Shui. That night, with not a penny on her, Dai Daji wandered through Beijing for a long time, lost in the city, unable to find her way home or back to him.

At the moment she needed saving the most, Zhou Shui had missed her call. He never imagined that a phone that didn’t charge would lead to such a disaster in their relationship. When Zhou Shui got home, he found Dai Daji sitting at the dressing table, crying and saying she wanted to break up. Dai Daji took out a bottle of Erguotou and said once she finished it, they would break up.

She coughed and teared up as she drank, while Zhou Shui, overwhelmed, snatched the bottle from her hands. After calming down, Zhou Shui pulled Dai Daji into his arms. Dai Daji said, from now on, whoever wants to break up will have to finish a whole bottle of Erguotou first.
