Xue Fangfei suddenly visited, asking him to join forces against the Tai Bu Department and also help her find someone skilled in ventriloquism and mimicry. Xiao Heng readily agreed, as eliminating the Tai Bu Department aligned with his interests. He first ordered the withdrawal of the Tai Bu Department's personnel, expressing his trust in Xue Fangfei. Wen Ji added a few more comments but didn't face punishment; Xiao Heng laughed and said he was in a good mood.

Madam Sun gave Ji Shuran a pill, instructing her to give it to Jiang Ruoyao before the ceremony. Ji Shuran ordered her to keep a close eye on Aunt Hu to prevent any disruptions. Madam Sun was uneasy, feeling that the Tai Bu Minister was unreliable and thinking Ji Shuran was too much like Ji Yanlin. She reminisced about the old Ji Shuran who was bold and passionate and reminded her to take care of herself.

Xue Fangfei, worried about chaos at the ceremony, asked Tong Er to find a safe place and inquired about her future plans. Tong Er expressed her desire for a life of luxury. Xue Fangfei gave her a jade pendant, planning to buy her a house in Luyang after this matter was resolved and considering finding her a good match, expressing that she already regarded her as a sister. Tong Er was moved and hugged Xue Fangfei.

Liu Wencai arrived at the Jiang residence with his men, deliberately creating a spooky atmosphere in front of Jiang Ruoyao. After Jiang Ruoyao struggled and coughed up blood, Ji Shuran and Madam Sun feigned panic. Liu Wencai sensed evil spirits in the Jiang residence, exaggerated the severity, and proposed setting up an altar to identify the host of the evil spirit. Ji Shuran signaled to Liu Wencai to drag Xue Fangfei away, but Grandmother Jiang hurriedly arrived, wanting to understand Jiang Yue's situation and insisting they couldn't touch Xue Fangfei. Xue Fangfei cried out to Jiang Yuanbai, repeatedly complaining of a headache, and looked terrified at Ji Shuran. Aunt Hu rushed out, complaining to Grandmother Jiang.

After a while, Xue Fangfei regained consciousness. When Jiang Yuanbai asked her what happened, she revealed the truth about Jiang Yue's murder, leaving Ji Shuran speechless. Seeing the situation was critical, Liu Wencai, believing Ji Shuran, stabbed Xue Fangfei with a sword, but Tong Er blocked the blow. However, Liu Wencai's men were no match, and Liu Wencai attempted to kill Xue Fangfei again but ended up stabbing Tong Er instead.

Xiao Heng's men arrived, injuring Liu Wencai. Liu Wencai, dragging Ji Shuran along, eventually couldn't hold on due to his severe injuries. Before dying, he still thought about his past with Ji Shuran. Ji Shuran finally snapped back to reality and burst into tears.

Tong Er's death left Xue Fangfei deeply unsettled, unable to accept her departure. Jiang Yuanbai ordered Tong Er's body to be carried away, and Xue Fangfei chased after it, fainting from grief. Before dying, Tong Er had requested Xue Fangfei to bury her with Jiang Li.

Jiang Yue's case was finally cleared, but Aunt Hu hanged herself, leaving a letter revealing that Ye Zhenzhen was murdered by Ji Shuran. Jiang Yuanbai was deeply affected by this and cried alone in his study. Xiao Heng sealed off the Tai Bu Department, and Emperor Hongxiao was very pleased upon hearing this. Princess Wanning, however, harbored a grudge against Xue Fangfei.
