Xue Fangfei speculated that Shen Yurong had a weakness and found out that he was mainly responsible for compiling classics. She wanted to see him and Princess Wanning reveal their true colors.

When Xue Fangfei joined the Music Department, the opportunity for her to perform a solo was taken by Mr. Xiao. Mr. Xiao deliberately mocked her arrogance, making her only assist in playing. During rehearsals, Mr. Xiao set her up to fall behind the music tempo, prompting Xue Fangfei to stay behind and practice alone.

Wen Ji, stumbling and with a purple mouth, finally found Situ Jiuyue but was bitten by a venomous snake. Xiao Heng arranged for her to temporarily stay at the Guogong Mansion for her safety, awaiting the arrival of the Prince of Da Zhao. Situ Jiuyue was quite pleased, but Xiao Heng asked her to help heal two people. Situ Jiuyue guessed that Xiao Heng was pleading on behalf of Xue Fangfei and had her accompany him to catch spiders, creating a false drowning scenario to test Xiao Heng's intentions.

Shen Yurong presided over the alliance affairs, and Xue Fangfei's body was exhausted from day and night rehearsals. Mr. Xiao, worried she would affect the Music Department rehearsals, informed Shen Yurong. Shen Yurong asked her to rest. When Ye Shijie found out, he sent medicine to Xue Fangfei, who hoped he would speak on her behalf to the emperor, planning to introduce new innovative performance forms.

Emperor Hongxiao supported Xue Fangfei's idea, leaving Shen Yurong speechless. When Xue Fangfei went to the Hanlin Academy to find Shen Yurong, she coincidentally encountered Zhao Qi, who teased her about her relationship with Shen Yurong. Shen Yurong arranged for her to perform with Zhao Qi, and Xue Fangfei did not refuse. She had Xue Er bring out a cloud brocade handkerchief to negotiate with Zhao Qi.

Zhao Qi initially wanted to watch Xue Fangfei make a fool of herself but found himself trapped. Xue Fangfei used the cloud brocade handkerchief to entice him, making him request Shen Yurong not to co-perform. Zhao Qi pretended to cooperate reluctantly. Shen Yurong reprimanded him to prioritize the Da Zhao mission over personal feelings. Zhao Qi's resignation failed, so Xue Fangfei enticed him to cooperate again, creating an impression that their previous engagement had failed, thus they couldn’t perform together.

Shen Ruyun came to find Shen Yurong, and they overheard Xue Fangfei arguing with Zhao Qi. Seeing Zhao Qi leave angrily, Shen Yurong asked Xue Fangfei the reason. Xue Fangfei accused Shen Yurong of deliberately making things difficult for her, stating she wouldn't give up. Shen Yurong reluctantly agreed to find another partner for her.

The next day, Young Master Du arrived at the Hanlin Academy and met Zhao Qi, asking why he didn’t take the good opportunity. Zhao Qi intentionally badmouthed Xue Fangfei, scaring Young Master Du into pretending to have diarrhea to avoid rehearsals. However, Zhao Qi had already been bribed by Xue Fangfei, promising to give him a string of pearls.

During a thunderstorm, Xue Fangfei was late for rehearsal and found out Young Master Du didn’t show up. She pretended not to know. Shen Yurong comforted her, telling her to wait until the rain stopped. Seeing the fragments of manuscripts reminded Xue Fangfei of the past, and she learned Shen Yurong planned to compile them into a classic. They talked for a long time, each understanding the other's thoughts without explicitly stating them.

Leaving the Hanlin Academy, Xue Fangfei felt nauseous. Xiao Heng saw her wearing Shen Yurong's coat and took her back to the Guogong Mansion. They teased each other about being single, and Xiao Heng warned her that getting close to Shen Yurong was dangerous. Xue Fangfei was determined, wanting to find Shen Yurong's weakness and not back down even in front of Princess Wanning. Xiao Heng hoped she wouldn't involve him in her schemes, stating he couldn’t afford it.

Shen Yurong returned home and was questioned by his mother. She reminded him that their current life wasn’t easy to come by, and he shouldn’t offend Princess Wanning or be with Xue Fangfei. Shen Yurong assured her that he knew what to do and asked her not to interfere.

Situ Jiuyue, drunk, was kept at the Guogong Mansion by Xiao Heng, awaiting the arrival of the Da Zhao mission. Xiao Heng left Wen Ji behind and went out with Lu Ji. Chu Lan and others, who had been following them, found an opportunity to attack Situ Jiuyue. When Situ Jiuyue woke up, she insisted on treating Xue Huaiyuan's wounds. Wen Ji, fearing punishment, accompanied her to the Ye family.

Ye Shijie, learning they were Xiao Heng’s people, refused them entry. Situ Jiuyue released a venomous spider, and Ye Shijie's lips turned purple from poison, so he had no choice but to let Situ Jiuyue treat Xue Huaiyuan. Situ Jiuyue sent Wen Ji away, planning to escape quietly but was ambushed by Chu Lan. She and Wen Ji were no match for Chu Lan and were severely injured. Wen Ji detoxified Ye Shijie, asking him to find Xiao Heng. Situ Jiuyue, in a last-ditch effort, released a poisonous gas bomb, causing all three to faint.
