Chu Lan woke up and attempted to kill Situ Jiuyue, but Xiao Heng threw a fan to stop him. Chu Lan released a smoke bomb and escaped.

Xue Fangfei learned about the incident from Ye Shijie and immediately rushed to the Duke's residence, noticing Xiao Heng's anxious expression. Xiao Heng explained Situ Jiuyue's identity, and Xue Fangfei promised to visit her every day. Xiao Heng secretly felt happy upon hearing this.

Li Zhongnan hid Chu Lan in the Imperial Guard Office, warning Li Jin not to mess up as he had worked hard to win over Yuan Jiang. Xue Fangfei visited the Duke's residence to see Situ Jiuyue, who was unhappy seeing her close to Xiao Heng.

The next day, the Da Zhao delegation arrived in the capital, and Shen Yurong reminded the Hanlin scholars to be prepared. He reported to the Emperor, coincidentally encountering Xiao Heng. Their eyes met, and Xiao Heng showed no regard for him.

Li Zhongnan and Yuan Jiang were discussing matters when Xiao Heng led a search, blocked by Yuan Jiang with a drawn sword. The Longwu Army appeared, disregarding Yuan Jiang's face, determined to search thoroughly. Xiao Heng ordered them not to show mercy. Knowing the Longwu Army could act first and report later, Yuan Jiang dared not interfere.

The Longwu Army surrounded the Imperial Guard Office, finding Chu Lan but failing to capture him. Li Zhongnan blamed Li Jin for the mishap and slapped him hard. Li Jin had intended to harm Xiao Heng but ended up ruining Li Zhongnan's plans.

The Da Zhao prince finally arrived and met Situ Jiuyue, hoping Xiao Heng would quickly find the assassin. At the banquet, the Da Zhao prince thanked Hong Xiaodi for finding the long-lost Situ Jiuyue. Xue Fangfei and Shen Yurong performed together, making Shen Yurong recall past memories. Xiao Heng watched with a heavy heart, and the Da Zhao prince noticed Situ Jiuyue's feelings.

Xiao Heng prepared to escort the Da Zhao prince to the border, reminding Xue Fangfei not to sacrifice herself for others. Situ Jiuyue overheard their conversation.
