After waking up, Princess Wanning felt nauseous. Even the jasmine incense she usually liked made her uncomfortable. She summoned Doctor Zhang. After checking her pulse, Doctor Zhang was shocked and nervous. Under Princess Wanning's coercion, he revealed that she was pregnant. Shen Yurong stared out the window, feeling life was unfair. The maid informed Shen Yurong about Princess Wanning's pregnancy. Xiao Heng secretly arrived in Dazhao, narrowly avoiding injury due to tight security, thanks to the bell Situ Jiuyue gave him. Situ Jiuyue was overjoyed, thinking Xiao Heng came for her, but he was there to meet the Dazhao Prince. Xiao Heng hoped the Dazhao Prince would support Yan in opposing Prince Cheng. However, Prince Cheng had already sent Chu Lan to warn the Dazhao Prince about Yan.

The Dazhao ministers debated, with fewer than half supporting Yan. Xiao Heng knew the Dazhao Prince was waiting for terms. The Dazhao Prince didn’t trust Emperor Hong Xiaodi but trusted Xiao Heng and proposed that Xiao Heng stay in Dazhao as a prince consort.

Rumors spread among the people about Princess Wanning’s pregnancy. Consort Li informed Emperor Hong Xiaodi, suggesting it tarnished the royal reputation and proposed checking personally with a physician. Shen Yurong's mother hurried to the Hanlin Academy to find Shen Yurong. He guessed someone was stirring trouble and advised his mother not to make things worse.

Consort Li, aware of Doctor Zhang's family disappearance, summoned Doctor Tu to check Princess Wanning’s pulse. Princess Wanning, unwilling to be manipulated, dismissed everyone and threatened Consort Li regarding the matters of Consort Xian. Consort Li, unfazed, reminded Princess Wanning of her trump card. Princess Wanning, believing Consort Li sided with Xue Fangfei, angrily smashed a cup.

Princess Wanning urgently wanted Shen Yurong to seek an audience with the Emperor and secure a marriage decree to protect their child. Shen Yurong calmly reminded her not to fall into a trap, suspecting someone was scheming to expose their affair and pave the way for the Xue family's case. He suggested waiting until Prince Cheng achieved great success. Princess Wanning, determined to keep her child, was advised by Shen Yurong to marry Li Jin, thinking only the Li family could match her status and provide a safe environment for her pregnancy. Princess Wanning was disappointed.

Li Jin, upon hearing this, didn’t want to accept Princess Wanning. Xue Fangfei, learning of Princess Wanning's impending marriage into the Li family, realized she had underestimated Shen Yurong's cunning.
