Zhao Ke, who had been drugged, woke up and overheard Jiang Yuanxing talking to himself. He learned that Princess Wanning had captured Madam Yang to threaten him, and he had no choice but to follow Princess Wanning's orders. Prince Cheng instructed Princess Wanning not to harm Xue Fangfei for the time being, as he wanted to use her to lure Xiao Heng and capture his weakness.

Princess Wanning argued that now was not the time to be distracted by Xiao Heng, but Prince Cheng was worried that Xiao Heng might find out the truth about Xiao Minghan's death. Shen Yurong sent a maid to deliver a tonic to Princess Wanning, deliberately delaying to find Xue Fangfei. Shen Yurong revealed Prince Cheng's plan, telling her she was just a pawn to be used and discarded as needed. Seizing the moment, she stabbed him in the chest twice, telling him with her last breath that she would wait for him in hell. Shen Yurong was stunned as he watched Princess Wanning collapse.

Shen Yurong took Xue Fangfei away, and when she woke up, she was too weak to resist. She accused Shen Yurong of being selfish and heartless. Shen Yurong claimed he had avenged her by killing Princess Wanning, but Xue Fangfei wished he would take his own life. Angered, Shen Yurong took out a token, indicating he intended to kill Xiao Heng. The banquet proceeded as usual, with music and dancing in the hall.

Zhang Wei stood guard outside with his troops, ready to act on Prince Cheng's orders. Xu Zhi burst in with evidence, accusing Zhang Wei of colluding with the northern border to rebel and ordered the soldiers to arrest him. The soldiers remained unmoved. Zhang Wei, knowing Xu Zhi was a spy, had deliberately let them think their plan had succeeded. Shen Yurong handed Princess Wanning's body to Li Jin.

Li Jin, thinking they were pretending, was secretly pleased to learn she was truly dead. Shen Yurong instructed him to proceed with Prince Cheng's plan and take Princess Wanning's body to the main hall. Shen Yurong ordered his men to guard Xue Fangfei while he went to deal with Xiao Heng. After Shen Yurong left, General Xiao arrived to rescue Xue Fangfei, and Lai Biao and others received signals to assist.

Emperor Hong Xiao received news and planned to leave with Consort Li, but Prince Cheng deliberately stopped him. To ensure Emperor Hong Xiao's escape, Consort Li stayed behind to placate Prince Cheng. Lu Ji led Emperor Hong Xiao out through the west palace gate but was blocked by Li Zhongnan's men. Fortunately, Jiang Yuanbai arrived with his troops. Prince Cheng wanted to capture Emperor Hong Xiao, but Xiao Heng intercepted him, leading to a fight. Jiang Yuanxing escorted Emperor Hong Xiao to the National Duke's residence, while Xiao Heng planned to divert the Longwu Army. General Xiao escorted Xue Fangfei to meet Xiao Heng, and Xue Fangfei intended to help him.

Surrounded by the Longwu Army, Xiao Heng prepared for a final battle. Shen Yurong ordered archers to take position, blaming Xiao Heng for stealing Xue Fangfei's heart. Xiao Heng was ready, prepared to fight to the death without hoping for survival.
