As the National Day holiday approached, Sang Yan was spotted by several girls at Yihe University who admired his looks and wanted his contact information. Duan Jiaxu asked Sang Yan about his holiday plans and invited him to return to Yihe with him, but Sang Yan demurred, saying they would discuss it later. Later, at the university entrance, Wen Yifan's mother, Zhao Yuandong, came to see her, bringing chili sauce and local specialties.
Wen Yifan mentioned she no longer ate spicy food. Her mother then tried to give her money, but her stepsister, Zheng Kejia, arrived and spoke unpleasantly to Wen Yifan before leaving with their mother. Sang Yan, watching silently from across the street, turned and left after Wen Yifan returned to her dorm. At a celebration for Su Tian’s newborn baby, everyone cooed over the infant.
Wen Yifan received a voice message from Sang Yan, a countdown reminding her there were 56 days left until his birthday, which made her smile. Su Tian asked about her progress in pursuing Sang Yan. Wen Yifan admitted she was unsure how to proceed, so Su Tian suggested starting with his hobbies, like games. Wen Yifan revealed she had already begun playing Sang Yan's favorite game but worried her poor skills would earn his criticism.
Su Tian reassured her that boys enjoy guiding girls in games. Just then, Mu Chengyun approached, took Wen Yifan’s phone to add himself as a friend, and offered to help her level up. Wen Yifan politely declined, and Su Tian discreetly sent him away with a work-related query. Su Hao'an dragged a reluctant Sang Yan to a shareholders' meeting for their bar, "Overtime." There, Sang Yan proudly announced that a girl was actively pursuing him.
When his friends pressed him, he admitted he liked her too but playfully declared he would simply "wait to be chased," to their amusement. Sang Yan quickly turned the tables by teasing Su Hao'an about his own romantic life, just as Zhong Siqiao arrived, causing Su Hao'an's demeanor to soften noticeably. Later, Zhong Siqiao visited Su Hao'an's grandfather, bringing a dog she found at an animal shelter that was also named "Mutou" (Woodie).
The grandfather was overjoyed and advised Su Hao'an not to miss his chance with a wonderful girl like Zhong Siqiao. That evening, Zhao Yuandong called Wen Yifan to apologize for past grievances and asked for her address to cook for her. Wen Yifan deflected the attempt at reconciliation, ending the call by saying she had an early morning. Later, when Sang Yan returned home, he found Wen Yifan asleep in his bed.
Watching her, he quietly mused, "Wen Shuangjiang, can you chase me a little more obviously? Otherwise, I won't feel certain. If you're not willing to extend a hand first, how would I dare to give myself to you again?" The next morning, Wen Yifan woke up in Sang Yan's bed and found him on the sofa. Feeling guilty, she told him he should lock his door.
Sang Yan retorted that she would just "pick the lock" and do anything to "invade" him. Taking this as a challenge, Wen Yifan sat opposite him and wrapped her arms around his neck, asserting that this is what would happen if he didn't lock the door. Sang Yan pulled her into his arms and asked, "Now you dare?" Startled, Wen Yifan whispered, "I don't," and quickly fled, wondering on her way to work if she needed to be braver.
With 15 days until Sang Yan’s birthday, Wen Yifan casually told him she had also started playing his game. Sang Yan invited her for a match, but she panicked upon learning his rank was near the top and made an excuse to leave. Before retreating, she bravely asked him to try a new restaurant that Friday, and he calmly agreed, hiding his delight.
On Friday, Wen Yifan dressed up carefully, even wearing the "First Frost" perfume Sang Yan had gifted her. However, when they arrived at the Spring Garden restaurant, they ran into Sang Yan's colleagues having a team dinner. Their date turned into a company gathering, which included Wen Yifan's stepsister, Zheng Kejia, an intern at Sang Yan's company.
Zheng Kejia openly remarked that she had considered pursuing Sang Yan but decided against it after seeing his obvious interest in Wen Yifan, whose comments finally made Wen Yifan realize the extent of Sang Yan's special treatment towards her. During the dinner, Wen Yifan was cornered by Zheng Kejia, who criticized her for being distant from their mother and claimed she, a stepsister, was a better daughter.
The harsh words triggered Wen Yifan's painful memory of her mother shouting, "This is my house! I don't want her eating at this table!" Distressed, Wen Yifan returned to the table. Sang Yan noticed her mood and decided they should leave, but a colleague insisted on taking a group photo before they departed.
Later, Wen Yifan received an urgent call from her superior, Ms. Qian, about a tunnel collapse in Beiyu, requiring her to leave immediately for an emergency reporting trip. She worried if she could return for Sang Yan's birthday. Sang Yan urged her to come back soon, cryptically saying he had something important to tell her but didn't want to distract her from work. While en route to Beiyu, Wen Yifan received the group photos from Zheng Kejia.
In the pictures, she noticed that although they stood apart, Sang Yan's gaze was constantly fixed on her. Meanwhile, Sang Yan messaged his company's group chat, asking for the photos. When a colleague offered to edit them, he replied, "No need. My girlfriend wants them. The most authentic photos will do."
