The First Frost Episode 21 Recap
> The First Frost Recap
After graduation, Wen Yifan’s classmate was returning to their hometown and had a lot of luggage. Wen Yifan helped carry the bags to the gate of Yihe University, where a taxi was parked. As she stepped forward to call the driver, she caught a glimpse of the driver's profile through the glass. Terrified, she quickly turned around and sprinted back to the school.
Sang Yan and Wen Yifan had demanding jobs—one frequently worked overtime, while the other often had to travel on short notice. Despite living under the same roof, their chances of running into each other were few and far between. That night, Sang Yan had just arrived home at midnight when Wen Yifan received a call from Qian Wenhua about an emergency. A taxi had lost control while passing another vehicle and crashed straight into a noodle shop.
Both the driver and the front-seat passenger were injured. When firefighters rescued them from the car, Wen Yifan saw the driver’s face. Panicking, she immediately stepped aside, her breath growing rapid. The injured driver seemed to recognize her as well, staring at her intently even while being carried away on a stretcher. Afraid of being identified, Wen Yifan deliberately left her name out of the news report.
Early Saturday morning, Wen Yifan hugged Sang Yan in the kitchen for a long time. In her heart, she silently vowed to treat him well from now on, never repeating the mistakes of the past. After letting go, she even gave him a light kiss. Sang Yan, however, wasn’t one to accept being teased and left hanging. He stopped Wen Yifan and pulled her into a deep kiss.
Teasing her about her poor kissing skills, he didn’t forget to give her a lesson even while drinking porridge. Zhong Siqiao, concerned about her grandfather’s situation, tried to persuade Su Haoan to reach out to his grandmother so the family could sit down and talk. She explained that his grandfather had only urged his grandmother to go on a road trip because he was sick.
That car accident had left an unhealable wound in their family, but she hoped his grandmother could find some happiness again. Su Haoan felt distressed that Zhong Siqiao was always thinking about others. But for Zhong Siqiao, her own happiness was tied to the happiness of those around her. When Su Haoan asked if she had thought about him during this time, she admitted she had—but she didn’t want him to know.
Hearing this, Su Haoan leaned in and kissed her. Recalling Sang Yan’s teasing about her kissing skills, Wen Yifan practiced in front of the mirror in her room. But after just a short while, she felt too embarrassed to continue. Later, Sang Yan showed her some old university photos. Wen Yifan commented that Duan Jiaxu was really handsome—like a campus heartthrob, youthful and sunny. Sang Yan’s expression immediately soured.
He retorted that Duan Jiaxu was older, practically from the previous generation. The more jealous he became, the more things seemed to pop up—there were so many photos of him with Duan Jiaxu in the album. In the end, Sang Yan made an excuse about being sleepy and snatched the album away. Wen Yifan gave Sang Yan the Valentine’s Day gift she had prepared in advance.
Unlike others who opted for candlelit dinners, she wanted something different because she saw Sang Yan as special. The bracelet she gave him had a tiny snowflake charm, symbolizing "Shuangjiang" (Frost’s Descent). After putting it on him, she had Sang Yan help her put on a bracelet with a little mulberry leaf charm. Sang Yan’s gift to her was a voice recorder, carefully filled with many recorded messages. Meanwhile, Su Haoan and Zhong Siqiao accompanied his grandfather back to his hometown.
Every corner of the house had been arranged by him personally. As they were talking, his grandmother arrived—she already knew everything. Looking at his grandfather, she said, “We are a couple for life. True happiness comes from being with family. ”Wen Yifan deeply regretted not being a part of Sang Yan’s university days. If she could, she would want to be present in every chapter of his life, sharing every joy and sorrow. Moving forward, she wanted to be his source of energy—his personal power bank, always charging him up with love.
