> The First Frost Recap

Sang Yan had a graduation dinner with his classmates at a small restaurant. His roommates envied him for securing a job immediately after graduation—one that was high-paying and easy. Meanwhile, in Yihe, Wen Yifan was reading at a café when she was interviewed by a reporter from the "Yihe Daily". They asked why, as a university graduate, she was unwilling to return to her hometown for work. Wen Yifan didn’t want to say much.

Zhao Yuandong called and told her to return to Nanwu, but Wen Yifan stated that she would be staying in Yihe. When Sang Yan saw Wen Yifan returning home soaking wet, he immediately grabbed a towel for her. He mentioned that he would be going to Yihe soon because his younger sister had started dating someone, and he wanted to check the guy out. Wen Yifan, not wanting Sang Yan to worry, pretended nothing was wrong.

After kissing him, she returned to her room and silently cried. Early the next morning, Wen Yifan accompanied Sang Yan to the airport. They reluctantly parted ways, only separating when Sang Yan had to check in. After returning home, Wen Yifan reminisced about all the moments she had shared with Sang Yan in their home. She loved him, but Che Xingde’s threats left her with no choice but to leave. Crying, she silently apologized to Sang Yan.

Zhong Siqiao, who was helping Wen Yifan feed her cat, discovered that Wen Yifan’s room was empty. Su Haoan immediately contacted Sang Yan. Sang Yan rushed back overnight, only to find the room completely vacant except for a letter. Wen Yifan had left without saying goodbye, only writing that she had a reason she had to leave and asking him not to look for her. Sang Yan took the letter to the police.

After contacting Wen Yifan’s mother, the police informed him that Zhao Yuandong said Wen Yifan often threw tantrums and disappeared, so there was no need to worry. Feeling distressed, Sang Yan admitted that he didn’t understand Wen Yifan at all. It wasn’t until he reported her disappearance that he realized she no longer had any family.

Although Zhong Siqiao assured him that they were Wen Yifan’s family, the reality was that Wen Yifan might not see them that way—not enough to trust them completely, at least. Sang Yan asked Su Haoan to help him request leave from work—he was going to search for answers. He went to the place where Wen Yifan had lived with her grandmother, trying to piece together her life and find clues about her whereabouts.

He asked around the neighborhood and contacted her university classmates, but Wen Yifan had always been introverted and didn’t socialize much, leaving him with little useful information. Next, Sang Yan visited Yihe TV Station. Her former colleagues revealed that Wen Yifan had once been sexually harassed by the editorial director at the time. Though the attempt had failed, she had still chosen to resign. Neither Nanwu nor Yihe had any sign of Wen Yifan.

With no other choice, Sang Yan went to Che Yanqin’s house. She wasn’t home, but Wen Ming told Sang Yan that Wen Yifan had run away once before, right after her college entrance exams. When Sang Yan pressed for the reason, Wen Ming refused to answer. Sang Yan then looked at the room Wen Yifan had once lived in—it was less of a room and more of a storage space, barely big enough to fit a bed.

The realization of what Wen Yifan had gone through nearly stopped his heart. Picking up one of her old draft papers, he noticed a line written in red ink—""Goal: Nanwu University. ""When Sang Yan arrived downstairs at Zhao Yuandong’s residence, he unexpectedly spotted Che Xingde riding an electric scooter out. Without hesitation, he got in his car and followed him all the way to Nanwu TV Station.

There, he happened to run into Fu Zhuang, who told him that Wen Yifan had already resigned and that Che Xingde had started working as a security guard at the station about a month ago. When Che Xingde saw Sang Yan, he provocatively smirked. In a fit of anger, Sang Yan drove straight at him, only stopping just in time to avoid a collision. Che Xingde sneered and walked away.

Meanwhile, Zhong Siqiao reflected on how she had never truly been able to step into Wen Yifan’s heart. Just then, she received a message from Wen Yifan. She immediately called back, but Wen Yifan only reassured her that she was safe. It was precisely because she cared too much that she had chosen to leave.
