The winter break arrived, and the teacher repeatedly reminded everyone not to slack off during the holidays, especially since they were already in their second year of high school. After school, Wen Yifan walked with a rhythm, admiring the music box that Sang Yan had given her. As she twirled around, she suddenly realized that Sang Yan had been quietly following her.

He claimed it was just because he was on the same route and offered to give her a ride home. During a group dinner, everyone sat together, and Xiang Lang specially prepared Wen Yifan's favorite dipping sauce. He proudly talked about how they had grown up together, making Sang Yan incredibly jealous, his face dark with envy throughout the evening. After dinner, they all moved to the Overtime restaurant.

While Sang Yan wasn’t looking, Zhong Siqiao suggested that Xiang Lang and Sang Yan live together, but Wen Yifan politely declined. Su Haoan then proposed playing a game of Truth or Dare, and in the very first round, he drew a heavy card asking him to kiss someone in the group. Although Sang Yan resisted fiercely, Su Haoan kissed him when he wasn’t paying attention and walked away proudly.

When it was Wen Yifan's turn to play Truth, she immediately listed several qualities she admired about Xiang Lang, making Sang Yan seethe with jealousy. Xiang Lang then confessed that his biggest regret was not attending Yihe University with Wen Yifan, as they had originally planned. Upon hearing this, Sang Yan recalled the time when Wen Yifan had broken up with him and said she was going to Yihe University with someone else. The pain felt almost unbearable.

Curious about why Wen Yifan hadn’t gone to Nanwu University, Su Haoan and Zhong Siqiao both wondered. Seeing Sang Yan drinking alone, Su Haoan decided to get straight to the point. He told Sang Yan that he still liked Wen Yifan, but Sang Yan only responded by throwing ice cubes at him, refusing to admit it.

On that night, Wen Yifan had said she was going to Yihe University, and she had chosen it because she couldn’t stand Sang Yan constantly looking for her. One of the reasons she picked Yihe University was to get far away from him.

Xiang Lang wanted to show concern for Wen Yifan’s current life, but Wen Yifan seemed distant and indifferent, as though she didn’t care about anything. She also refused to talk about why she had changed her choice to Yihe University. Sang Yan informed Wen Yifan that he wouldn’t be coming home tonight, and Wen Yifan thought for a moment before simply replying with “Okay.

”In the second year of high school, Sang Yan left home early every day just so he could catch the same bus as Wen Yifan and even reserved a seat for her. Wen Yifan’s mother came to her workplace to ask her to come home for the New Year's Eve dinner, emphasizing that her younger sister, Zheng Kejia, had agreed. Wen Yifan didn’t respond. Sang Yan continued to stay at Overtime and never returned home.

Zhong Siqiao, knowing this, informed Wen Yifan. Wen Yifan said there was no argument between them, but now it felt more like they were strangers living under the same roof. Although Sang Yan didn’t come home every day, he would still report to Wen Yifan, reminding her to lock the door. Every time Wen Yifan received his message, she would simply reply with “Okay.

”Su Haoan took Zhong Siqiao home, but they were caught by her family, making the situation extremely awkward. Sang Yan’s interview clip was cut by netizens and turned into a meme video, which later became a trending topic on some websites. When Wen Yifan got home, she specifically went online to watch it. To her surprise, seeing Sang Yan on the screen startled her.

Sang Yan filled the refrigerator at home and, though reluctant, asked Wen Yifan to help clean out the inventory since he didn’t like wasting food. Wen Yifan wanted to offer him some money, but Sang Yan didn’t engage with her offer. Instead, he walked into his room holding a cup of coffee. Feeling bad, Wen Yifan texted him, asking him to calculate how much she owed. Sang Yan replied, “20. You owe me.” It turned out that when Zhong Siqiao called Wen Yifan, Sang Yan overheard the conversation, especially the part where Wen Yifan had said, "We’re like strangers living under the same roof, barely communicating.
