The Inextricable Destiny Episode 12 Recap
> The Inextricable Destiny Recap
He Qiuting carried Jiuling on his back and attempted to leave. However, the streets were swarmed with soldiers, with frequent checkpoints for pedestrians. Escaping the city was now impossible. He Qiuting had no other choice, so he decided to confront the Rong residence. As he walked and called out for Rong Yu, he informed them that He Jiuling had come to find him. Upon hearing the voice, Rong Yu, who had been impatiently waiting for Jiuling, rushed to the door. He Qiuting handed Jiuling over to Rong Yu and ordered them to marry immediately since the law did not hold the wife responsible for the husband's crimes.
Jiuling hesitated, but He Qiuting passionately urged her, mentioning the need to leave a descendant for the He family. By now, the pursuing soldiers had reached the Rong residence's entrance. He Qiuting fought hard to keep the gate closed, buying time for Jiuling. However, Jiuling was still uncertain. He Qiuting realized he couldn't hold them off any longer, so he opened the gate and confronted the pursuing soldiers. He Shan joined He Qiuting in fighting the soldiers. Jiuling recognized the severity of the situation, knelt down to pray to the heavens and the earth, and Zhan Ping hurriedly reminded Rong Yu. Rong Yu, imitating Jiuling, knelt beside her to pay respects to the heavens and the earth.
When Jiuling saw that He Qiuting had been injured and fallen to the ground, she tearfully bid her older brother farewell. She let out a sorrowful cry as He Qiuting collapsed. Jiuling and He Qiuting were twins, and she had never thought of He Qiuting as her brother. However, in his final moments, He Qiuting heard his sister call him "brother."
Judge Song from the Ministry of Punishments arrived at the Rong residence to take Jiuling away. Rong Yu cried and protested, refusing to let anyone take his wife. He threatened to go with her if necessary. Rong Jun intervened, stating that Jiuling now belonged to the Rong family, and there was no connection to the He family. Judge Song had to begrudgingly leave, influenced by Rong Jun's authority.
Rong Yu continued to watch over Jiuling day and night, willingly sleeping in the outer room to care for her. On the day of He Liang's family's execution, Jiuling finally regained consciousness. She struggled to get up and, with Rong Yu by her side, went to the city's marketplace. The time had come for Judge Song to carry out the executions, and it was heartbreaking to see the loyal He family members fall into the hands of corrupt officials and traitors.
Jiuling got out of the carriage and, in the midst of the falling snow, knelt in the direction of her father, older brother, sister-in-law, and second older brother's family. She paid her respects deeply. Jiuling returned home in a sorrowful state, experiencing fits of sobbing and trembling in her dreams. Rong Yu, who witnessed her distress, felt her pain deeply.
The following day, Rong Yu went to the astrological institute for classes. He was worried about leaving Jiuling alone at home, so he departed reluctantly. Rong Jun sent someone to find Jiuling. When Jiuling met him, she noticed He Shan carrying a bundle. She immediately paid her respects deeply to He Shan, thanking him for helping her older brother, Qiuting, resist the pursuing soldiers without hesitation. Seeing He Shan carrying a bundle, she asked where he was going.
He Shan replied that Lord Rong had relieved him of his position as a guard and ordered him to leave immediately, never to set foot in the Rong residence again. Jiuling knew that He Shan had been dismissed because of her, and he advised her not to blame herself. He reminded her that in life, gaining, losing, meeting, and parting were all common occurrences. He asked Jiuling not to reveal the truth to Rong Yu and, if he inquired, to say that He Shan had returned to his hometown. After bidding farewell to He Shan, Jiuling continued to reflect on his words, realizing that she would be alone from now on and there was nothing she couldn't let go of. Rong Jun saw Jiuling and sternly established many rules for her. He commanded Jiuling not to harm or fight with others, and she must take care of Rong Yu. They should sleep in separate beds, and Jiuling should prioritize Rong Yu. Jiuling agreed to follow these rules.
Rong Jun also mentioned that the promotion banquet for Judge Song would be held in three days, and she would accompany Rong Yu to attend. Jiuling clenched her fists and nodded in agreement. Rong Yu attended classes at the astrological institute, but he didn't understand much. Instead, he became quite popular among the children. He told them that his wife was unhappy, so he had to go back to accompany her. One of the children offered to provide Rong Yu with Jiuling's birth chart, so Rong Yu could take it home to have his father read it and understand why Jiuling was upset. Astonishingly, Rong Yu accidentally mentioned Jiuling's exact birth chart.
