As the rain fell throughout the land, Jiuling walked through the forest, her mind haunted by the gruesome images of her father and brother being killed. At the same time, Antan and Cheng Bi searched for Jiuling but couldn't find her, so they returned to the Rong residence. Meanwhile, Jiuling visited the graves of her father and brother, kneeling deeply and expressing regret for mistaking impostors for them. She promised her father and brother that she would return to them once she had resolved the chaos that had befallen the land. Cheng Bi went back and reported that Jiuling was missing, which deeply worried Rong Yu.
The Regent sent his daughter, Song Lin, to the southern region, where she was confident that she would become the future empress. The Regent, however, continued to fret and gave her countless reminders, much to the annoyance of the Crown Prince. Upon her return to the Rong residence, Jiuling was confronted by Rong Jiong, who was determined to lecture her. Jiuling no longer showed the same respect towards him as before, and when he attempted to reprimand her, she grabbed his wrist. Rong Jiong scolded her for not returning home for a whole night, causing Rong Yu to worry about her whereabouts. Jiuling called herself the Rong family's calamity, and her eyes were filled with a murderous intent. Cheng Bi intervened to prevent Jiuling from taking any violent action.
Later, as Rong Jiong and his family went to search for Rong Yu, Cheng Bi followed Jiuling and asked her what would happen to Young Master Rong. Jiuling coldly stated that it was none of her concern. The group stopped for a meal halfway, and coincidentally, Rong Yu arrived at the same location while searching for Jiuling. The princess, seeing the masked Rong Yu, found him alluring and assumed he was handsome underneath. She approached him and attempted to strike up a conversation. However, Rong Yu wasn't interested in engaging with her and, upon hearing Zhan Ping's voice, promptly hid inside the princess's carriage.
After Zhan Ping left, the princess got into the carriage and talked to Rong Yu. He explained that he was looking for his wife and asked her for help to leave the forest. When she saw his face after he removed his mask, the princess was captivated by his good looks. She thought it was a fated encounter but realized that Rong Yu didn't want much interaction with her. She and her attendants then proceeded to a nearby inn, leaving Rong Yu behind. Jiuling, however, couldn't shake her concern for Rong Yu and left the inn to search for him. Rong Yu sensed Jiuling's arrival and went to greet her eagerly.
When Rong Yu saw Jiuling, he couldn't contain his excitement. However, Jiuling didn't know how to face Rong Yu anymore. Rong Yu's emotions overwhelmed him, and he rushed to hug Jiuling. They returned to the inn, where Jiuling prepared a bed for Rong Yu and asked him to rest well, promising to take him back to the Rong residence the next day. Seeing her teary eyes, Rong Yu comforted Jiuling and asked her what had happened. Jiuling cryptically mentioned that she had lost her way, and Rong Yu assured her that he would always protect her.
They returned to the Rong residence, where everyone was delighted to see them. However, Rong Yu noticed that Jiuling seemed to be intentionally distancing herself from him. Meanwhile, the princess inquired about Rong Yu and learned that he was the head of a branch of the Astrology Pavilion. Delighted, she believed she had secured a future as the pavilion's lady. She generously gifted items to various ministers. The next day, the princess attended the court to meet the Empress Dowager. Several ministers greeted her warmly, and she introduced herself as Chu Chu, the only daughter of the Southern Prince Jian Nanrun. Her domain in Jiālín was known to be prosperous, and marrying her would be like ascending to heaven. The Empress Dowager was fond of her, and Chu Chu presented valuable gifts to her and the princess. She requested the Empress Dowager to select a husband for her and expressed her interest in Rong Yu.
Jiuling informed the Emperor about the conspiracy between Rong Jiong and the Regent. Jiuling decided to destroy the astrological chart because Rong Jiong had mentioned that possessing it would provide an advantage. She asked the Emperor to allow her some more time before destroying it, as doing so would harm Rong Yu. She wanted to do something more for him. Upon her return, Jiuling went to the medicine room to work on an antidote for Rong Yu. Rong Jiong had heard that Rong Yu had learned to play the zither and advised him to keep studying the stars, saying that he might soon be able to practice astrology. Rong Yu asked his younger uncle to take care of himself and Jiuling, as they were the most important people in his life.
